So just saw the spoiler pics of the manga, and now it is pretty clear to me that Naruto was never meant to be the main character of the manga. It has always been Kishi's favourite-Sasuke.

 

So the things Naruto achieved

 

1) Acknowledgement of the village

2) Friends, and a supposed bro like best friend

 

Naruto didn't achieve-

 

1) He won't be shown as the Hokage

2) He didn't get the girl depsite doing everything for her

3) Was unable to defeat Sasuke

 

Things Sasuke achieved-

 

1) Revenge on danzo

2) Love of the girl, Naruto loved so selflessly

3) Defeated Naruto, who I thought should have been the main character since the manga is kittening named after him

4) Acceptance back in village without any punishment, most probably

 

Things Sasuke did not get-

 

1) Can't think of anyone, please help me here

 

I thought that even though Naruto won't be getting chance to become the Hokage, he might atleast give Sasuke a crushing defeat. Then that also didn't happen and now the girl is also not his.

 

So in short kishi gives us the message

 

1) Looks is the best and only way to get the girl, and if you got looks, you can treat her like kitten and she still will love you.

2) Hard work can't beat born talent.

 

In short no real motivating, positive thing in life.

 

Huge round of applause for the fabulous writer Masashi Kishimoto, who can't even choose the name of the manga correctly. 

 

I will now strictly be sticking to mangas where the main character is easily distinguishable, so that in the end I don't become sick with myself for ever loving a manga which gives no positive message, but vice-versa. Literally vomitting right now due to kishi's writng .

 

And don't take it the wrong way guys, but I did warn you people about not being so optimistic about the pairing. I did wrote a long time ago that kishi is doing some crazy kitten in his manga and their is huge chance he mkes NH and SS both canon.

There was . . . until the Pein arc ended anyway. Actually, even that story arc wasn't that good. This ending undoes a LOT of what made this series. I don't think I can actually stomach reading the ending.

The war arc took up a lot of time and I'll be honest I stop reading Naruto as a whole after he join the war.I only kept tabs to know how it ends. I was surprise looking on youtube how many people abandon the series. I remember there used to be videos, debates, essays, etc... but now that has faded away. I think this war arc no matter how good it might have been kind of killed it for many people because that's not how Naruto started off and a long arc is overkill! The war is just dragging and i didn't like how the story was going and overall this is really a Konoha issue that drag everyone else along. Look at the characters who started the war and those who were revived. Sasuke didn't bring back other village kages only the leaf.

Leave it to Kishi to mess up what little good that manga still had going for it.

1. Choji x Karui (I mean ..are u serious!!! )
2. Many other crack pairings
(Kishi once said Shikamaru won't have romance life ....CONTRADICTION, isn't it?)
3. Hyuga Hinata wasn't meant to be Hyuga Leader but pairing fodder
4. All the girls of Konoha (including Sakura)..became BABY MAKING machines and Housewives
5. Although Byakugan is dominant, Naruto's kids don't have it!!
6. Suddenly every character turned OOC!!
7. Hinata's teammates made no sense for the story ( feel sorry for them)
8. Chapters ago, Kurenai had son when Asuma died, now she has daughter
She probably got another man!
9. It seems like the pairings happened without any CANON hint of that
10. Suddenly, someone changed his love interest (Naruto)
It means he was just a Sakura FANBOY (really!!???...Actually it was what I heard from every NH fan yesterday)
11. I dunno how Sasuke managed to have romance with his physical & mental condition !! (I really thought he might say he'll be burden if he stays & then become a wanderer forever)
12. Those who couldn't get a gold medal, got a silver medal for themselves (and TADA!! The ppl in this list are Naruto, Probably Lee, Ino..Interesting, isn't it?)
13. Sasuke always Loved Sakura ( )
14. The plot actually turned out to be like a shojo manga....( I really expected an awesome SHONEN ending)

While we can't talk about a main character not being a main character without the quality of the writing, let's please not turn this into another final chapters bashing/ fretting thread. I will agree that the juxtaposition of what was accomplished by Naruto's goals vs Sasuke's goals is awful. But I disagree that Naruto lost to Sasuke this last time. He won. Sasuke couldn't continue fighting and Naruto would try to. And although it sucks that his main goal became another person instead of something bigger, he was able to 'save Sasuke and return him to Sakura'. 

 

It's kind of like the real world. The jerks who don't care about others and go for what they want usually get it because they don't lose sight of their goals in the face of morales or people. They want to achieve their goal and don't stop no matter what or who is in their way. Sometimes being considerate can bog one down from achieving their goals or at least big ones, but it does make them a better person. It's just a matter of whether or not that's enough for the considerate person. I don't know. Shoulder shrug at downer.

Naruto did lose. The fight ended in a draw but he didn't get anything in the end. I won't bother myself with the movie or the anime anymore. I seriously never thought I will hate watching naruto. And I am not sad only because NS didn't happen, but naruto didn't win against sasuke in any field, be it romance or power. I don't think getting acceptance ia also a victory for naruto because sasuke will be accepted as well and moreover he will be accepted by the girl naruto loves.

Just a piece of advice guys, don't ever believe in interpretations of other guys in the manga about the pairing. I have been making myself ready since 540 for SS/NH but it still hurts a lot to see Naruto don't win anything.

I agree with a lot of what you said. It makes sense, if not slightly disappointing it had to be like this ._.

In the real world, a good portion of the stuff that occurred...wouldn't have. However, this manga is not the real world. Stories are never real world material and at best have to be more about story progression.

If you can't even keep a real progression of cause and effect, then you lose your audience entirely.

Look at what happened to Digimon. Ever mess up so hard that even the studios didn't see it coming?

In the real world, a good portion of the stuff that occurred...wouldn't have. However, this manga is not the real world. Stories are never real world material and at best have to be more about story progression.

If you can't even keep a real progression of cause and effect, then you lose your audience entirely.

Look at what happened to Digimon. Ever mess up so hard that even the studios didn't see it coming?

 

 

I agree. This is not the real world. This is a story. Things do not need to make sense according the real world. But they NEED to make sense according the rules of the own world.

And in this manga the boy who never gave up on his assholish "friend" and finally brought him back gives up on his love even though he had said no long ago that she was kind of his girlfriend.
