Thought I might as well start the thread for ep 342 since nobody else has done it. This episode kept up the consistency with having really good quality animation and the pacing was great. Perhaps I would have ended with the *big surprise* But I guess that will either be next episode or the episode after that. Also the ep had some nice compact but well animated action scenes which were thoroughly enjoyable hopefully they keep this type of quality up for the remaining eps.

 

Overall good episode with some highlighting on Kakashi along with some hinting/filler albeit I would say I enjoyed the small filler bits as they really matched the canon scenes for this ep and didn't seem to go off topic.

Thoughts...

At first I thought it was going to be a filler episode, but the opening scene actually fit very well with Tobi's speech about failing.

The fight scenes were nice, but the best thing about this episode was Kakashi's heavy breathing. It really helped make the moment more poignant.

Amazing

I really loved this episode. I never realized how amazing this fight was until seeing it animated (not that Kishimoto didn't equally do an amazing job).

The emotion, hostility and tension of this part of the story was extremely well depicted... for instance, as TerrorKing added, Kakashi's gasping for air as he hopes will all his heart and soul that this man is not Obito, his hero.

According to the preview, it looks like next week will be the big reveal, and possibly the last episode of the year? Either way, I can't wait for both the next episode and manga chapter next week. Things are getting tense!

What a great battle, we're getting close to Tobi's real identity ...Kamui vs. Kamui
I know Kakashi has some ideas who Tobi might be but he doesn't believe to be true! He saw with his own eyes that Obito died many years ago, Impossible he might say!
