Several of the tailed beasts look like mutant critters. A couple of them I can't figure out what in the world they are.
1 Tanuki
2 Cat

5 I have no clue, maybe some sort of mutant horse or deer?
6 looks like a slug
7 is a freaky mutant insect mashup that I have no clue about

well according to this:
3 is a demon Turtle
4 is a demon Ape
5 is a Demon Whale-Horse
6 is a Demon Gastropod(evil slug!)
7 is a Demon Rhino Beetle
the others have some sort of myths tied to them I believe. Well at least the Neko-Mata, Ushi-Oni(demon sushi? lol), and the Kyuubi no Kitsune.
Tanuki might have some myths being they are native to Asia, but I don't now of any at the moment.
Ten to one there is probably some obscure myth about each of the 9 (10?) Bijuu, but unless the third data book states that Kishi based them off real Myths. We might never know.

It's funy. The chapter 469 spoiler thread had more pages in one day than this one's had in two. There's barely going to be anything to talk about once this chapter comes out.
And though Naruto and Sakura don't seem to appear in this chapter, the bashing and flaming hasn't subsided :/

eh the bashing is always there. I agree it is annoying how some fans take things way out of context to try and prove a pairing is dead. But they can think what they want. I feel better knowing their arguments will eventually be crushed by reality. They can have their fun for now, it won't last forever.

This is more or less the legend I knew about the tanuki before reading Naruto. I read it in a fairytales' book when I was a child, and I got really surprised when I saw the Ichibi looking like a teapot. So I think this must be the source of Kishimoto's tanuki
