QUOTE (Sakura Blossoms @ May 10 2009, 09:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
As far as I could tell, no one has stated that if Naruto died in the end, that the story would suddenly become 'horrible'. The points that were made were that Naruto is a Shonen Manga, and so doesn't follow along the same lines as a Shakespearean tragedy, and really can't be compared as they are two completely different genres. And I understand the point that you're trying to make, but the whole theme of Naruto is to surpass all those who have come before him and died before him. It *really* wouldn't make any sense for Naruto to go through so much, persevere through so much, only to be killed in the end.

I apologize if I was veering off topic, I meant to say that on a side note. Well, its not as if he's going to die a meaningless death (if he were to die). If he does die, that doesn't necessarily mean that all his perseverance, effort, and accomplishments would be in vain.

As for the tragic hero archetype, I wouldn't mind if Kishimoto develops one of his characters to fit the archetype. Many authors have copied this archetype and assigned the traits to their own characters (with a few deviations ofcourse, for example Miller and his rendition of the "modern tragic hero"). Yes, Naruto is a shounen manga, and there's a very small chance that Kishimoto will use Shakespearean elements in his manga, but I would enjoy it if there was some deviation from the typical formula for shounen manga.

If there's any evidence of Naruto possibly dying, it's done through the elements of allusion and foreshadowing.
Think about it, every "Narutoish" character thus far has died far for their beliefs; Nagato for his dreams for Konan and Pain, Obito for his belief of never abandoning a comrade, Minato for his responsibilities for the Village, Jiraiya, again, for the sake of leaf village.

Unless Naruto is the one to change all of that I strongly think that he will eventually die. And on a side note, I don't understand why people think that if the protagonist dies in the end the series automatically becomes horrible, I prefer character death, it has more of a long lasting effect on me.

I'm glad that Naruto understood that a forced requisition of peace isn't peace, but peace out of fear. As others have said before, it looks like Pain's motives are to destroy the whole ninja world and focus people's anger toward one enemy in that way they will all be united.

Looks like Kishi has been watching a few episodes of gundam 00.

Ah, just thought of something..

I believe he is very well alive. Remember Lelouch saying he would make C.C. happy? Well, do we all remember the 1000 paper cranes from R1 which Lelouch told C.C. would make her dream come true?

C.C. did say that she wishes to be with him. I believe that was the significance of the paper crane.

After all, he did promise to fulfill her wishes which he did not do by the end of the series.

Maybe Lelouch became the giver of the geass and made C.C. mortal again thus Lelouch becoming immortal.

Note that the wagon driver's face was carefully avoided.

Amazing. Yet I run out of another good anime to watch.

The ending, I expected it. Still it leaves me upset, nonetheless I still loved every minute of it.

It takes a lot of resolve to be the Pariah for everyone's sin.

Eh, not too hyped for Gundam 00, didn't like the first season, both Exia and Setsuna lack character.

BTW:

Kallen tied up and Nunally in chains? Getting kinda kinky there eh Lelouch?
