I don't consider these side manga chapters worth the effort of individual topic for each chapter so I'm just making one topic for the rest of the chapters for Naruto: Kohono's Story- The Steam Ninja Scrolls.

Summary Time: Chapter 11. The Resurrection Hot Springs.

The girls from last time wants to join the group journey to the land of hot springs for a special hot spring that is said to either revive the death or let you see the dead I don't remember. Mirai rejects the girls offer at first, then mopes, and then decides to join her. Sorry, I genuinely thought that she was going to join the group for a hot springs further into the country, turns out it just in a nearby forest. Tatsumi was I guess scared of going there at night when this hot springs power works. Then brings a group of you're friends there on a dare. The wander through the forest. The stop at a drinking spring, Mirai has a poor reaction due to the water tasting awful due to being high in iron. Then they talks about dead parents. The reach where the spiring is suppose to be and stumble on the sect of the Jashin cult that suppose to be the big bads for this story...kind of a lame way to introduce you antagonist. Turns out that the girl is apart of the cult. Tatsumi introduces Mirai to Master Ryuki leader of the cult. She was actually bring Mirai so she could be initiated into the cult. She rejects the offer as the water was drugged as she was suppose to be used as a sacrifice.

Chapter 12. Taking Up the Mantel.

She reveals herself as a Leaf Ninja to the Cult. Master Ryuki instantly reveals his evil plan to make another Hidan and everything he told all the girls he lure in was a lie. Hidan was apparently the Great Master of the Cult. Ryuki talks about how glorious he was which pisses Mirai off. While she is fighting she has yet another flashback of Shikamaru training her, this case how to use trench knives. She defeats the Cult's minions.

Chapter 13. The Jashin Curse.

As she defeated his minions with great ease last chapter she informs Ryuki that she is taking him into custody. Apparently Ryuki was going to conduct the ritual to make someone immortal...why did it take is guy about 20 years to do this ritual again? He has his minions that are still conscious hold the abducted woman hostage.

Then as Mirai thinks over this dilemma Kakashi and Guy bust in. kakashi notice she was leaving in the middle of the night so he had one of dogs follow her. He frees the hostages...wow the artist really does emulate Kishimoto are quite well those girls do look like something he would make for random village women...thought the one on the left looks a bit too much like Sakura. As there is seemingly nothing left Mirai just walks up to arrest him, but she steps into a Jashin ritual circle. Ryuki was about to cut her earlier so now he can do his cult's curse through a doll. His allows him to kill his opponent through his doll then use his opponents corpse as a puppet...which seem way more useful, effective, and efficient than Hidan's curse, why was he their grandmaster?  But, it turns out that he never got a hit on her as she used a genjutsu, and he didn't notice that he was tasting water from a damaged bottle as it was high in iron...doesn't blood have a coppery taste to it?

He decides to grab Tatsumi and use his curse on her. Oh no its not like there are two other people in this cave that know about Jashin curse's weakness of just dragging him out of the circle to stop its effects.

I think this is a great adaptation for a really mediocre story. As the artist really does capture Kishimoto's art style. It just the story is well this.

Mirai's constant navel gazing has gotten old.

I'm bored of the constant Shikamaru flashback as they aren't interesting.

The lessons haven't been that impressive and the way they talk about Asuma makes it sound like they have never really talk to Mirai about him. When other then maybe Kakashi and Guy that have all implied to have bonded with her over the years.

I don't like the pacing of the story.

The villains and the various conflicts the group encounters are just stumble upon and aren't threatening nor interesting and are constantly easily resolved.

Oh the manga continues.

Summary Time: Chapter 14. The Value of Peace.

Mirai continues her fight with her possessed friend. Kakashi and Guy are about to intervene but more goons very conveniently come in to hold them off. Mirai has another flashback of Shikamaru training. He going to train her in wind release, but he can't do wind release. So he brings in his wife Temari to do it. So she uses wind release to blow away her friend and defeat the cult leader.

Doing this makes Kakashi is the image of Asuma overlapping Mirai just like what happen to Naruto during wind release training.

The Cult leader still wants to keep going to become immortal and Mirai ask why he wants that. His rants in pretty much the current time of peace is pathetic and it feel like they are living after the golden age of the ninja world. Which Mirai pauses because she also feels like that, being a Ninja in a time where Ninja are increasingly unneeded. We see her thinking she could never reach the heights of the Seventh Hokage, The orange Hokage, Naruto, nor her predecessors of Naruto  Shikamaru and Sakura. She is a bit far back to see much detail but Sakura does look like nice in the image spot. Since there really isn't anything hinting needing to have Sakura in this image. I'm going to consider this a choice of the artist. The Cult leader tries attacking the girl again but Mirai finally stops him.

Kakashi makes a comment about his name. He is called a dragon but he will never even become a rook...guessing that is a Shogi reference.

Summary Time: Chapter 15. Mirai's King.

And the cover is her holding her friend whose name I have forgotten...Tatsumi...Is her king her new girlfriend? That's what I get from the cover.

The Cult leader is tied up ranting. Kakashi reveals to Mirai that again, to her shock that this isn't just a vacation, it is a mission. Part of the mission was to investigate this cult Mirai stumbled upon. Turns out Tenten Choji and Kiba were also undercover as tourist to help gather info. Mirai ask why wasn't see was informed. Kakashi say he thought she would over react and go all out and blow their cover...even she admits that probably would have happen. He still praises her for a job well done.

Tatsumi wakes up and apologizes to Mirai. Mirai thanks her for the water since it allowed her to trick Ryuki. Mirai declares that she became a shinobi to protect the important people around her...she is glad to have saved her "friend." Tatsumi decides she needs to move on and finally give her mother her funeral. This is symbolized by the rising run.

As a joke, Guy is arrested by the Hot Spring Ninja team Kakashi called in. Kakashi tells Mirai that it is actually forbidden to read Jashin text in the archives, but he has retroactively gave her permission so she is not in trouble.

Back to the Inn. Kakashi is given an update of what's happening in the village by Naruto. Kakashi reveals why Naruto wanted Mirai with him on this mission: she is intensely righteous, overly serious as well as inflexible, and has a hatred towards the Jashin cult. Naruto wanted Kakashi to help deal with those personality flaws of her. When the phone call is over he informs Shikamaru that all is working out like they hoped.  Then Kakashi and Guy have a talk they talk about there was a possibility that she could have been swayed by the promises of the cult as even Kakashi would have been tempted because he wishes to heal Guy's condition. Guy says not to worry about it as he is fine, and they always hang out now.

In comes Mirai to inform Kakashi he took too long on the phone for them to leave. She at first act annoyed by this, but then says it fine since one more day wouldn't hurt. Showing her character growth. Then she has the discussion of the king piece with Shikamaru as well as her own failures. Shikamaru points out her name Mirai is "future," in other words her name was the answer all along. She talks to some mooks that praises her as Asuma's daughter which doesn't bother her anymore. Again she has grown.

Oh Finally its over.

Ya know as far as like post-Naruto ending content goes..... The only ones I've throughly liked so far is Sasuke's Story: Sunrise < - not restsuden fyi lol!

but this would definitely be #2 for me, and this could be a hot take from me, but after reading Konoha Shindan I think...  Mirai could've been the protagonist that a Naruto sequel series could've been all about.

since it's not centered around Naruto's family, or Sasuke's family.

I'd definitely say it would've been a more risky approach, but I did find Mirai to be an enjoyable character. Not perfect by any means, there are some things in the writing where it could've been better.

However, for a short series I think it was good for the most part.
