I don't know if it was a happy crying, she looked pretty upset... but she definitely figured out what he was doing when he made the promise

QUOTE (James S Cassidy @ May 18 2010, 04:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Both Naruto and Sakura never saw the promise as a burden.

Actually, I have to disagree with this. I think Sakura definitely knew it was a burden. The fact that she was relying on someone else to do something made it so. While its not one of the worse things she could have done, coupled with the fact that Naruto secretly was in love with her makes it a much bigger problem. That part isn't really her fault, but the initial burden is. We can see proof that Sakura regretted asking Naruto to do something in her place shown when she adamantly tells Naruto they will save Sasuke together. And then later, when he is Kyuubified, she sees the lengths he will go for Sasuke, and therefore partly for herself, and begs him to stop saying she will save Sasuke for him. Those two examples I think show Sakura wanting to erase the promise but failed in doing so completely.

QUOTE
If Sakura already knew that the promise was a burden, then why wait so long to do anything about it?

I think it was because they were, for the most part, working together to save Sasuke and she felt like she was helping enough. After Naruto fought Orochimaru and lost control, I think Sakura realized that she was still behind and began relying on Naruto once again. That brings things to the Pain attack where Naruto had to save everyone, including herself, and then after that when they found out Sasuke was part of Akatsuki and she felt even more helpless.

QUOTE
Amazing how it took her this long to just realize it now and only after sometimes else told her. You said "she was unable to fix it yet." So you are basically telling me, she spent 200+ chapters trying to fix this promise which was a burden? I don't see that. She didn't see the promise itself as a burden. She saw Sasuke as the burden.

I think partly Sakura didn't realize how much of a burden it was, since she didn't know Naruto was in love with her. Once she was told he was, she knew that the burden was too much for her to place upon Naruto and went right away to remove it. Before she knew of it though, it was more of a minor issue. One that she might not be proud of, but one she didn't feel the need to resolve right away (until things started getting desperate and she was faced with the possibility of losing Naruto).

QUOTE
Both Naruto and Sakura are stupid in this retrospect. They have to have someone else tell them the other route. The other view point. All human are like this. They only see one path when really there are more. Even if they don't agree with the other paths, they still accept that there are others when other people tell them with their experiences.

Sometimes it does take an outsiders view to really put things into perspective. Even if Sakura had an inkling that Naruto was in love with her, I could see her being hesitant to bring it up, worrying that she could possibly be wrong and therefore rejected again. Plus, neither Sakura or Naruto are particularly good at sharing their feelings with one another, mostly because they are worried of hurting each other. I think if they got over that insecurity towards each other things would work out a lot easier for them XDD

QUOTE
When Sai tells her that the promise was a burden she is totally surprised. What was she feeling before that? I don't see the "burden" complex until after Sai says it. I am sure there was guilt. Like I said, but it wasn't the guilt that everyone thought it was. If she was all in the know already why was she so surprised by this. If she already knew about all of this, then she wouldn't be as surprised as she was by what Sai said.

Well, I believe you said that Sakura cried at first because she was happy Naruto loved her? Besides the timing you pointed out, I don't see much proof in her facial expression that she is happy. Since I can't see much proof in her expression, I think it's safer to associate her emotions at that moment with her flashback of Naruto promising to bring back Sasuke...which is the problem in the first place.

QUOTE
But think about this for a moment. What if guilt is not the only thing she feels. For a moment, I don't think it is really guilt. I have seen girls start crying because a guy tells her and shows her how special she truly is.

Well, that is true, when they know for sure they harbor some emotions for him as well. It would be funny if Sakura got mad at Naruto for not telling her the truth earlier, though XD

QUOTE
She finally realizes why Naruto is doing what he does. She finally realizes why Naruto is always protective of her.

I thought a lot about this and I wouldn't bring this up unless I didn't cover all the bases. I can't really sit here and type everything explaining my theory because it is too long and I don't want to confuse people. So I want to keep things to the point and only bring up moments that are necessary.

I have seen the reactions that many people show during certain times. I have even experienced some of them myself and if the Naruto reflection

It would be cute if it is true. I'm just giving my own observation. I have to be skeptical of things XD;;

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping is the case wow.png

I also had been thinking, guys. When Sakura was crying more so after begging Naruto to bring Sasuke back, do you think that came from her realizing Naruto understands her better than most others do?

Maybe not better than most others, but definitely better than she thought he did. That's why she thanked him before he made the POAL. She realized that what she had thought about him before (trying to interfere with her love for Sasuke) was wrong and that he had actually been trying to help her.

My belief is that Sakura has matured greatly from the ignorant fangirl we saw when she was introduced. Now she is closer to Naruto, accepting of his faults, caring for his safety and well being, and most of all, falling in love with him, a love that is true. I look forward to her finally admitting her feelings and Naruto believing her. I like to think she meant every word of her confession in the Land of Iron.

True, very true. Let us not lose hope in Naru/Saku becoming canon.

I think Sakura already had huge development (in combat I mean I see this totally unrelated to the development of her relationship with naruto)
pretty much like kakashi, He pulled that raikage bunshin and that dog like chidori out of thin air or so it seems. Which means that he had the development off screen (which I think is quite logical since he isn't the main character). Also does everyone see him as a strong enough candidate to become hokage. He still didn't look as strong as Jiraiya or Tsunade though (here I mean at the beginning of shippuuden).

And it seems that he and Might Guy, Kurenai and Asuma were still pretty much on the same level. The opposite was never clearly stated.

So I hope Sakura has made similar development.

In support of the Sakura we once knew:
