So today I bought five 4-week-old kittens from two guys selling them in a parking lot at Petco. Afterwards I brought them to the Humane Society. Seriously? You're gonna go up and try to sell these kittens on a hot day to random people in a parking lot? They aren't even old enough to be away from their mother yet. Jerks.

Wow, good for you! Some people just don't understand animals. dry.gif

agreed. I saw someone did the same too, that time was even worse since the kittens doesn't even have strong fur yet. Well, I bought all of them and give em to the vets (Though my wife was asking me if we can keep em instead, my answer was flat out no) well, the guy who sold em got a hefty scolding from my wife though.

So I had kind of a nightmare last night (at least it's one for narusaku fans). I had this dream that Naruto, Hinata, and I think Kiba were at the beach, and suddenly Naruto started making googly eyes at Hinata, and he next thing I know they're splashing around and hugging each other. I thought to myself while this was happening "Nooooo! I better not visit the H&E forums; everyone's gonna be pissed!"

I think he was actually staring at them in an "awww yeah" kind of way...

Congratulations. My respect for Kiba has dwindled now.

It's been forever since I posted on here, but I had this really awesome dream last night. I had a dream where it was the war arc in Naruto and right after the last battle, Sakura runs up to him, they stare at each other for a little bit and then she kisses him. In my head I was like "YES! Finally!" Then I started to wake up and I was like "That wasn't real?! Dammit!"

So I think it's time that I tell the magical tale of my almost-a-weeaboo phase and discuss the ramifications of going through such a phase and what I took away from it.

I never was a full-blown weeaboo (didn't try to speak Japanese, didn't cosplay, didn't want to go to Japan, etc.), but my anime/manga obsession was at its worst in freshman/sophomore year (interestingly enough, my socially awkward phase was at its worst in middle school, like HORRIBLY socially awkward, it was so bad). I wore a Sasuke t-shirt at least once a week, wore a Naruto wristband every day, and I started writing this "original" fanfic that was essentially a mashup of Naruto and Bleach (thank GOD I never submitted it online). Basically, I was that weird girl who spoke/sang loudly all the time, didn't give two sh*ts about my appearance, and read manga in class. By the end of my sophomore year, I really started to notice that I was kinda socially awkward and wanted to change that, but I didn't put much effort into doing so until my senior year of high school. By then, the damage was long since done to my reputation, so little repair could be done. I vowed that by my first day of college, I would never ever go back to the way I used to be. Didn't buy manga anymore, started wearing more stylish clothes, putting more make-up on, general interest in anime and manga decreased dramatically, and keeping my nerdy interests a secret except to close friends (even then, I make fun of myself in front of them for liking stuff like Naruto).

Because of the changes I made to myself, I am a much happier, self-confident person than I was when I was open about my anime obsession. You hear the message "be yourself" all over the place in movies, books, and television, but what if being yourself isn't working out so well? People judge others all the time, especially those who declare their love for anime and call themselves "otaku". They look at you and think you're a socially awkward, loud, hyperactive weirdo (very shy and withdrawn on the flip side). Are they right? maybe, maybe not. I don't mean to offend anyone; just know that I speak from personal experience and observations. I'm not telling anyone to stop liking their fandoms and be fake; if you call yourself an otaku and are happy and confident with yourself, that's great! There's also nothing wrong with changing yourself if you aren't happy and confident with yourself.
