Oh my gosh, I don't know if I posted here or not yet, but I'll just say it again:
This story is so beautiful :shamefulcry0js: I'm not even just saying that coz I wanna be nice, really, actually, beautiful is an understatement. I felt like....revitilized or enlightened or something or rather ... the situational irony is unparalleled by any other fanfic i've ever read...the story actually set a kind of clean, 5-o-clock in the morning, mysterious mood....if that makes any sense.... tongue.gif
And the tragedy actually has depth. I basically bawled my eyes out, and trust me, that's a feat! I never cry in reading stories, like, ever! I was even surprised :o

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, when is the next chapter going to be released?

The next chapter is actually complete, but due to recent developments in the Naruto manga (the revealing of Pein, Konan, Uchiha Madara, their abilities, etc), I need to wait a few more extra weeks to see just exactly what they can do since Konan, the blue-haired Akatsuki member, plays an important early role in Empyreal Paradox. I pride myself in sticking to canon events as close as possible, and so I will make the necessary changes as new things are revealed in canon, thus the delay. Once the manga goes back to the point where revelations are coming at a much slower pace, then I'll release the chapter.

I apologize for the 3 month delay. :shamefulcry0js:

Blame Kishimoto. laugh.gif

So the chapter is delayed because Kishimoto are actually making interesting manga for once? ^^

Oh, thank god, and I'd thought the fic was abandoned or discontinued.
Nice to know that Empyreal Paradox is still alive and kicking.

Its good to hear that the story lives. Can't wait to see what you put in it next. I have to admit, the manga is very interesting right now.

Just so people will know I'm not dead and I still am working on the story, here's a clip from the next chapter which will hopefully be coming out by the end of the week.

Before this author can explain just exactly what happened to create the monstrous explosion that blasted the hundreds of civilians and ninjas working on and around the Hokage Tower off their feet and into the air, we must first clear a few misconceptions one might have about the world where our heroes reside in. To name one such example, people often make the common mistake of Konoha and all the other shinobi villages being rather backward in terms of technology. This, however, is not true. In fact, one can say that in certain aspects they are more advanced that we are in the real world.

This is especially evident in the field of biology and medicine. I mean, where else can you find medicine that can instantly restore mental strength and stamina (the common soldier pills), grant immense power (the tri-color Akimichi pills), and even pills where they can turn a person a person young again – albeit at the cost of their life (the pill Sakura used before her ‘death’)? Doctors and herbalists, healers and med-nins, priests and all other medical specialists that live in this world… they are far more skilled at saving lives than even the best of our doctors in our real world.

In a way, bloodlines abilities too are a product of their science. Although we commonly associate these otherworldly powers with words like cool and awesome and dismiss them simply by the term ‘bloodlines’, let’s be real for a second and imagine if these people actually did exist in society. What would we call them? Monsters? Freaks? Mutants? If you had called them by the last term, then you will actually be correct. The word ‘bloodlines’ is actually a fancy term for calling people with powers developed from artificial mutation on a physical, mental, and the genetic level. None of bloodlines that exist in this world are naturally ‘born’. If you trace them all back to their source, one can easily find evidence that they were all artificially ‘created’.

Of course it will still be incorrect to say that they are all advanced than we. The most notable difference, for one, is that the residents of this world do not have what we call computers. The closest thing they have to compare to is that of the ability to develop televisions, video cameras and VCRs, and that level of technology is still only available at the government and military level, thereby making them inaccessible to the general public. Telephones too do not exist, and while they do have radios, they exist only in form of walkie-talkies and PA systems where range is limited and, at their level of technology, extremely expensive to make. In a world where TV programs and radio broadcasts do not exist, people flock to open-air theatres and festivals for entertainment and long-distance communication is done via letters and messenger birds. For them, mass media is still a foreign concept.

Weapon technology is where the difference in technology levels will seem most awkward. While cannons do exist (a technology that is oddly exclusive to the all-too-often underappreciated samurai caste), guns do not until much later, and even then it will never reach a level where it would be as popular as the king of long-range combat: the bow and arrow. This might seem odd to some, but if this author may refer to the battle between Hyuuga Neji and Kidomaru that will take place 27 years in the future from where this story is at now, some may be inclined to change their minds. While guns and their bullets are definitely superior in projectile speed and rate of fire, they cannot compare to the bow and arrow in all other aspects. With no such handicap like the gun has with the ‘gunshot’, the bows can not only fire their arrows in complete silence, they also have the ability to change the trajectory of the arrow by attaching ‘homing’ properties to it, and, above all, the gun cannot match the bow and arrow when it comes to sheer destructive power. By simply wrapping a few blast notes around the arrow, one can turn the seemingly primitive weapon into a modern equivalent of an inexpensive, compact, foldable, homing grenade-launcher with a built-in silencer. And that’s just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to what the bow and arrow can do.

In fact, it could be said that blast notes alone are the very reason why weapon technology seems so backward in the ninja world. Cheap and easy to make, the blast note virtually eliminated the necessity of gunpowder and changed warfare forever. Combined with the many different mass-destruction techniques man developed using their spiritual power known as chakra, there was never the need to branch into other directions of weapon technology. That’s not to say there were a few exceptions, of course, biological science and chemical science being among the few notable ones. Although ninjas have devoted countless hours in studying their applications in chakra and their uses above all other sciences, in order to understand exactly how things in the physical plane worked as they did for better results, research into those sciences could not be avoided. Such as physics.

If there is one thing in this world we can call the embodiment of physics, one can simply stare up and above the blue sky and point at the Sun. Although we take the Sun as something of a given, the truth remains that the sun is a seething, restless, and dangerous million kilometre wide thermonuclear reactor. Deep in its core, where temperature exceeds thirty million degrees, atoms, much less whole molecules, are unable to exist, stripped of their electrons and leaving only a basic atomic structure known as the nuclei behind. And when these nuclei smash together under these unimaginable temperatures and gravitational pressures, fusion occurs, and particles of electromagnetic energy we call photons are then born. They then make their torturous way through half a million kilometres of incredibly dense ionized gas we call plasma, towards and eventually out of the Sun’s shining surface. Like an air bubble forming underwater and making its way towards the surface, the surface of the sun erupts, hurling plasma into space only to pour right back down into the Sun due to its immense gravity. We call the largest of these eruptions as solar flares.

And just how powerful are these solar flares, you ask?

Well, let’s just say that it’s as powerful as a hundred million billion tons of exploding TNT, or enough energy that can power the entire human civilization for fifty thousand years.

And if, just if, someone could artificially create a solar flare, even if it were atomic in size, what would the results be?

Well, there you have it.

Be warned, though, no guarantees.

A while back someone requested a list of characters in Empyreal Paradox, so here it is:

Empyreal Paradox

Dramatis Personae:

Semi-OC characters are characters indirectly mentioned in the canon storyline but never fully introduced, the blanks filled by the author's imagination. OC characters are characters that are made up entirely by the author’s imagination)

Miscellaneous facts about Empyreal Paradox characters and their names:

Hyuuga Setsuka - Sakura’s Hyuuga name has two meanings: it can either mean ‘winter flower’ or ‘petrifaction’ depending on which correct Japanese kanji alphabet is used. For more details on why this is significant, read Medusa Javelin.

Hyuuga Sen - Did anyone notice that Sen’s name is actually Nes spelled backwards? Despite this, he is not a self-insert in any way. His character model is based off Ulquiorra, a character from a manga/anime called Bleach. Please keep in mind that when I say I base someone after a character model, I only base his or her appearance and personality traits. In no way they are the same person.

Hyuuga Masaki - Although she never really got a real part in the story, Masaki’s character is based off Inoue Orihime, another character from Bleach. Incidentally, her name comes from the same source. Masaki is the name of Kurosaki Ichigo’s mother, the main character in Bleach.

Hyuuga Juubei, Hyouma, Okoi, Saemon - The names of the poor Branch House members that were killed before they even got a scene in the story are taken from a manga known as Basilisk. If you have a chance and can stomach a little gore, I suggest you read it because it has ninjas in it and they kick major ass. As a sidenote, Okoi and Saemon in Basilisk are actually brother and sister. They are not brother and sister in Empyreal Paradox, but are newlyweds instead in order to magnify the tragedy aspect.

Haruno Mikoto - Mikoto’s family name and her relation to Sakura as an aunt is non-canon. I just thought it would be more interesting to have her as a Haruno than a woman from a no-name clan or, god forbid, another Uchiha. I decided to leave the inter-clan marriages to the Hyuuga only.

(Mikoto’s sister) - The experimental name I came up for Mikoto’s sister was ‘Kareha’, which translates to ‘dead leaves’ in Japanese in an indirect reference to her infertility. I eventually decided to scrap the whole thing and refer her as ‘Mikoto’s sister’ throughout the story since otherwise that was going to be one more name for the readers to remember in a story where many original names already run rampant.

Uchiha Kazuki - Like Sen and Masaki, Kazuki’s character is based off of another character from Bleach - Grimmjow - which to a degree explains their dynamic relationship. His name is based off the word ‘ikusa’, a rather old-fashioned word for ‘war’ in Japanese, spelled backwards and modified a little.

Uchiha Kokone - Originally I had planned to base Kokone’s character off of another character in Bleach as well, this one being based off of Tatsuki, Orihime’s best friend. In the end I scrapped that idea because I figured Tatsuki won’t look anything like the old weapon shop granny neko-baa that was introduced recently in the canon storyline. Kokone’s name is based off the word ‘koneko’ which translates to ‘kitten’ in Japanese with its letters switched around a little.

Kazama Masashi and Kazama Seishi - The names for the First and Second Hokages are non-canon, but are based on the theory that their models are based on Kishimoto Masashi himself and his real-life twin brother Kishimoto Seishi (author of 666 Satan). Their last names are fandom created but, eh, what the hell. I like them.

Sarutobi Sasuke - Since canon never introduced an actual name for the Third Hokage, I took the liberty of adding one. The name ‘Sarutobi Sasuke’ is actually a name of a real ninja that is said to have existed in feudal Japan. Not to be confused with Uchiha Sasuke. To avoid this, I will usually refer him as the Third Hokage rather by name.

Hatake Midori - Before coming up with Midori’s name I had already figured out what her ability was going to be, so I decided to give her a name that was sort of based off of her image projection ability. Since she borders on being cybernetic, and ever since watching ‘The Matrix’ and getting the stereotypical idea that cybernetic messages are green, I simply then translated the word ‘green’ into Japanese, thus the name ‘Midori’. I actually regret giving her this name because I later realized that she shares the same name as a different OC character written in a fanfic by an author I respect.

Hasegawa Kaede and Kurazaka Nagi - At first I considered them to be candidates for Gekkou Hayate’s parents, but I came to the eventual realization that there were simply too many ‘parents of this and this character’ characters already introduced so I thought might as well add some who have no relation to the cast in order to add diversity. Their names and models are based off characters from the manga/anime series Mahou Sensei Negima. Kaede’s family name Hasegawa comes from Hasegawa Chisame (the hacker), and her name and model is based off of Nagase Kaede (the ninja). For Nagi, the family name Kurazaka is a modified version of the family name taken from Kagurazaka Asuna (the swordswoman) and his name and model is based off Nagi Springfield (the main character’s father).

Tsuburaya Dan - I took the liberty of adding a family name for Dan for the purpose of reminding the readers that Dan and Hatsune (who will have a rather significant part in the story later) are brother and sister (which I later realized was unnecessary, but by that time it was already too late). The family name Tsuburaya is taken from Detective Conan/Case Closed, from the character Tsuburaya Mitsuhiko, Conan’s elementary school classmate.

Tsuburaya Hatsune - Hatsune’s name and model is actually borrowed from a ‘create-your-own-original-character’ contest held by Kishimoto Masashi himself. If anyone is in possession of volume 23 of the Japanese Nartuo Manga, between the chapters you can see the contest results submitted by the readers, and in one of the contests Hatsune was awarded as the winner and had her character design redrawn by Kishimoto as a reward. She’s the one leaning on a large wooden paddle-looking thing she uses as a weapon.

Mizouchi Rukyou - The origin of his name is actually rather simple. I mashed the keyboard, and the screen came up with something along the lines of ‘mziovci rkou’ and after a quit edit to make it look Japanese, the name Mizouchi Rukyou was born. He was a throwaway character from the start, so I never really gave it some serious thought.

Mitarashi Miwako and Mitarashi Takagi - Characters models and names also taken from Detective Conan/Case Closed, from the Japanese police detectives Miwako and Takagi. It’s really too bad they didn’t get much of a part in the actual story…

Kuro no Hei - Character model and his given name comes from a character codenamed Hei in the anime series Darker than Black (Kuro no Keiyakusha). Incidentally, his title ‘Kuro no Hei’ translates to ‘black of the black’, with Kuro being the Japanese word for ‘black’ and Hei being the Chinese (I think) word for ‘black’, which, as a whole, gives the overall title of ‘darker than black’.

Utono Kagerou (Konan) - I noticed that most people don’t go in-depth or outright ignore the existence of the blue-haired female in fanfictions involving the Akatsuki, so I decided be different and introduce her right off the bat in my story from Chapter One. I did this quite differently by introducing her as an OC at first but later revealed her to be a blue-haired female that will eventually become the woman named Konan. I also gave her an ability (her shadow possession) that will allow me to alter her character in the event she is finally introduced in the canon storyline by allowing her to change abilities at will just by controlling a different someone, which is a good way of explaining how she will come to possess her paper controlling ability she has in canon. Kagerou’s name before she becomes Konan is taken from the manga/anime series known as Flame of Recca, from the name of the main character’s true mother. Her family name Utono is something I came up randomly which I thought suited her name for some weird reason I can’t really explain.

Hopefully this will help for the people who are confused on who is what and what's going on.

For chapter 6 "Novella" Are there two Jiraiyas? One is the young Jiraiya, who is from the manga. Is the second Jiraiya, Nidaime (Seishi), a reincarnation of Jiraiya? Is this Empyreal Virtue? This may be Jiraiya's inappropriate behavior. In Medusa Javelin it was confirmed Jiraiya peeked on Tsunade in the bath, but he is her Grand Uncle. Peeking in itself is a invasion of the victim's privacy, but additional facts are he is a relative and old. Ew.

Wow. Great story but the series itself is going way over my head because of the depth and the certain level of angst and depression in the series.

I'm seriously not the type of person to read this genre.

Yes, this is correct.

Not sure what this means, but in my story the Empyreal Virtue is essentially god, creator of the universe, the author of this fanfi... *cough* ahem, in any case, he/she/it is basically what makes the Naruto world go around. Since the Empyreal Virtue is an omnipotent existence, it doesn't really play an important role other than the fact that it's there.

biggrin.gif Well, to be fair Jiraiya didn't know he was going to be Tsunade's great uncle.

For the record, however, Tsunade and reincarnated Jiraiya (Seishi) are not related by blood. Details to come in later chapters.

I actually get this a lot. Yes, this story is not for everyone. I try to make it simple as possible but apparently I lose a lot of people in the process of introducing the twists and turns I incorporate in my story. Hopefully I'll be able to sum everything up in a few more chapters so plot can (finally!) advance to the next stage.

Awesome chapter, Nes. Makes me wonder how much other people you're bringing back... heh

Spoiler Alert!

There are a total of six, seven if you include Naruto himself. Three of them have been introduced thus far (Sakura, Haku, Jiraiya) with three left to be revealed.

As for who they are... I can tell you that there is an actual reason why they were brought back into the world of the past. If you read the Epilogue of Medusa Javelin very carefully, you can see the reason why, and, consequently, you might be able to fathom a guess on who the other three are.

I have also done a little bit of judo and kick boxing.

I also love reading. It is my favorite past time hobby next to all the others listed above. Due to the large amount of materials that I have read I have a lot of trouble writing my own fanfic since the ideas to make it different keeps coming to mind. I haven't submitted a single fanfic but I am writing an ongoing fic regarding Naruto which I hope to put online for others to read.

I also like watching anime and reading manga and have been a fan since day one. (except for the fillers part ... But I still watched each and everyone)

I have always liked Naruto and Sakura's pairing and I say make them a cannon couple --> this part is exclusively for Kishimoto-san.
