Another new chapter and again more dissapointment. I honestly feel like this is all I'm doing recently, complaining about new chapters in the manga's I read. I don't know if it's because I'm not enjoying the genre as much anymore, or if chapters in most manga i've been reading have all been weak, or if it's the after effects of the Naruto ending, and i'm just more critical of chapters and less forgiving.

Sadly enough, this is all I expect from Erza. She's turned into a bad character with terrible asspulls. She's been dropped out of my favorites.

@harry4e: I think it's more like because of how amazing Tartaros arc was, that we'd all come to expect Mashima to live up to it. In reality, this was a very standard FT chapter pre-Tartaros arc. Not bad, but not anything great either.

Hey the chapter wasn't too bad this week, the turn around wasn't even an a**pull, it was a genuine team effort.

I didn't think the Tartaros arc was that great, with the possible exception of Gray's part (even that was not that impressive, but atleast it was different, though at the same time not for him, he seems to get the fights with those he has history, Lyon, Ultear and Silver.)

 

It only felt more amazing than it was because everything after the timeskip has been dissapointing, and this was slightly different with actual relevance to the plot, but as I said with the exception of Gray's bit and the final revelation about Natsu everything else was not that great. Actually parts that involve Gray have been the best parts recently, the parts with Ur, Ultear and Melady during the S-class exams, the Sacrifice Ultear made to save Gray, The parts Silver. Everything else is forgetable.

Really? I thought it was heads above any other arc that preceded it. I can't tell you how many times my jaw dropped in that arc. My two favourite parts has to be Wendy 's DF and Igneel.

Guess Erza was due a power up after the time skip .. .. It was just as many expected , nothing much could have been done about handling the fight differently .

Funny enough, I gained a new respect for Ichiya with these double chapters. I think Ichiya is pretty much what Erza makes him out to be with these chapters. The thing about Ichiya is, for all his ludicuriously weak stats, he makes it up for sheer versatility. Poison, Lightning, Stink bombs, Healing, Strength enchancement, and so many more possibilities. And worse, you can't predict what kind of perfume he'll use next.

Above all, there's the possibility that he harvested Laxus' lightning to make his new perfume. If this is true, then he could just as easily harvest the other DS elements, making him one of the stronger characters. I think if Ichiya's lightning perfume was harvested from Laxus' DS magic, could this make him a pseudo-dragon slayer of sorts? I could see users gaining the same characteristics a DS would, but it would still be weaker than the original.

Suppose Ichiya could mass-produce that stuff.... Then it might just be the key to killing Acno.

Oh, come on. Modern-day WMD's have wayyyy better range than that. You can't exactly accuse the manga being unrealistic if real-life equivalents can do much better than that.
