Might want to recheck that cover there. I just took a look and both figures on the picture are walking away. The other person's hands are facing thumbs foreward pointing off screen.

Regardless of whether Shino is walking away or to Hinata doesn't change the fact that he's on the cover. That's the part that struck me as odd. I understand having Hinata and Naruto on there, but what was the reason for adding Shino? That question made me wonder if he is going to play a bigger role in Hinata's life and so she can't die just yet.

Also, you could interpret that Shino is walking forward (toward the reader) while Naruto is walking away. Both of them are walking in opposite directions with Hinata in the middle. Almost as if Hinata is a a crossroads and she needs to make a decision that will either bring her forward (Shino) or backwards (Naruto). Granted, this can all be interpreted in many number of ways, but that's how I see the cover.

And if Shino does end up saving Hinata, I am so going out to buy myself a chocolate cake to eat in celebration. Heck, I might buy that cake anyways cause that sounds really yummy right now. biggrin.gif
End of line.

I won't. It'll make her sacrifice completely pointless, other than being a plot device to make Naruto go six-tails.

Is that such a bad thing? Something, at some point, had to do that job. Besides, if she hadn't jumped in there Naruto wouldn't have been able to unstick himself from the ground without kyuubi's help. And if he had to rely on the kyuubi again he would be breaking his promise to Yamoto so Pain might have had him miles away already.
Just think how differently Sasuke vs. Kirrabeee would have gone if just one person had jumped in at any time to help the guy...

quick edit: I'm not a huge Hinata fan, but I don't think that her sacrifice was meaningless.

It will be if she lives. Because then she won't have served any *true* purpose in the *entire* manga, except to be the catalyst that made Naruto go six-tails which is *highly* detrimental for his body, and everyone else around him.

So, in answer to your question, yes, that would be a bad thing IMO.

True. & That would still be true if she dies.

But then her death will actually have significance. She sacrificed herself, threw herself out there to protect her 'loved' one, and came full-circle from her days of just hanging back in the shadows, too afraid to fight. She was making her ultimate last stand, in defense of the one she loved. To make her live after doing all of that, would just make all of what she did...practically pointless.

It actually has the potential to be far worse. If she's written off to irrelevancy again without doing much more of consequence the rest of the manga then she's a plot device designed to make Naruto Kyuubi and nothing more.

Plus, having her remain dead would be good plot development, for it would finally allow Naruto to experience the pain of losing someone close to him who is also his own age, and he will take that experience with him, and grow more as a ninja and as a person.

Exactly. I think that was part of the point of why Pain did and said what he did even after the Shinra Tensei. I suspect in Pain's mind, Naruto cannot and will not ever be able to understand his position if he does not understand his pain. Unless, Hinata actually dies at Pain's hands how can he claim to understand that pain. Naruto will obviously still reject Pain's approach, but they aren't quite on the same level of understanding without it. It reminds me of Sasuke telling Naruto he didn't understand what it was like because he never had parents to begin with.

I agree. Having her alive will be a bunch of wasteful development. Not to mention favoritism to a certain amount of fans. Seriously if this keeps up, then I will say Kishimoto is following J.K. Rowling's footsteps.

I just had a really bad idea (especially considering how much i like Hinata).

Pein just had five of his six other bodies destroyed, and he should need replacements for it. He could very well take Hinata's for his own. That would give him a body that could see everywhere at once (save for that little blind spot) and that would make him VERY strong.

Now, even suggesting this makes me cringe, but i'm sure it would please soem of you if it happened. i mean, up to now there doesn't seem like there is a way to stop it, and Naruto would probably be a lot more hesitant to hurt a Hinata-Pein.

Of course there's the "Kishimoto would find a way to save her afterwards" thing, but in the meantime? How many leaf nins would die before they're able to save her? Add to that the trauma she would have at being "responsible" (in her mind) of the deaths of many other of her fellow nins and... BIG DRAMA HERE PEOPLE!

Seriously, even i think her death would be better than that.

And just in case it really did happen, i haven't read chapter 438, so i'm not trying to spoil.

Just read it. Forget about what i said. (Thank God!)
