Just as it says, I need a good, well drawn geo-political map of the Elemental Nations to use as I write my story.

My story is an AU that has Naruto and Sakura making big changes to the way Kononha trains it's shinobi and in fact has kept the Rookie Nine and their classmates, they all became ninja, I hated that second test, under wraps for more advanced training among other things. Now, after lots of chapters of world building and setting the political tone of things it's time for the baby genin to take on real missions.

To do that I need to have a good map so I know where things and places are in the Naruto world. Not only that I need a map that shows major geographical features for later missions and events. I particularly need a map that shows rivers that are explained in the story. One major event and this isn't a spoiler since it's already being planned for over the course of the story is that the Leaf is going to go to war with Sound in the next few years as retaliation for events that has put the Leaf in danger and unrest. At the moment the Leaf is conducting raids to keep the Sound's leaders off balance.

I'm not asking for a map to be drawn for me, I just wold like to see where I can find what would be considered the best of the bunch. For a series this old one would think that a search would result in more than a few maps of the Elemental Nations. You would think that the publishers would have had one made for the fans as a goody or such.

Try upworks freelancer. There are tons of freelancers on that site that can help you, but you need to be convincing by showing the money.

Map#1

Map#2
Pretty much those two.

First off, thanks for the replies and I'm sorry that I haven't responded faster but there are things in real life that had to be dealt with beforehand.

I took a look at the maps suggested but while close they're not usable for my needs. I know at some point I've seen very detailed maps that look like they came from an atlas. These went into great detail as to rivers, mountain ranges, forests and deserts. In terms of inhabited areas they show not only the hidden villages and major locations from the series but also minor villages, towns and cities. It was one of the maps that I'm looking for that I was able to see a waterway that ran from the northern seas inland through Iron and then into Sound which gave me the idea to have Naruto send a riverine force, after negotiating a treaty with the land's leadership, to harass and raid Orochimaru's facilities. This was inspired by the use of Navy forces that operated out of the Mekong Delta in the Vietnam war. Naruto basically went behind his grandmother and grandfather's backs and started his own Navy.

Long story short, the more information I can get on the actual (fictional) lay of the region of the world Naruto lives in the more detail I can go into as well as get an idea of how a raid, ambush, or just a general run of the mill mission would play out based on the surrounding terrain. A raid in the forest in Fire country would be done differently than one in Mist or better yet, Snow. So, the better the map I can get my hands on the more I can put into my story. As it stands now, Naruto and Sakura are taking part in a mission to go to Suna and continue to work out a new treaty between the villages. This will also be the chapter that introduces Gaara so we can see how screwed up he and his seal are. As I've said in the story, at this point canon is just a suggestion and anything goes, remember, Gaara has a giant insane racoon juggling flaming chainsaws in his mind.

Again, thanks for the suggestions and I'll go ahead and use the maps you've provided for the time being. Better to have something than nothing and wishing.

Yeah, after writing for a world that is so geographically linked (with characters who run missions, etc.), it's way important to have a good map. One I've found:

Hope this one helps. There are several more Naruto world maps floating around out there, but some of the more detailed ones are drawn specifically to suit a particular fanfic. So they might include countries that aren't in the canon. I think this one is pretty true to the manga universe. Hope it helps!

Tricksie, thank you so much for the map you posted it's very close to what I've been looking for. As I have mentioned, in my story Naruto has sent a mother ship the Konoha Naval Ship (KNS) Revenge and it's compliment of combat river craft and Shinobi teams to the Gaikotsu Bay and then send the boats up the river that cuts through Iron into Rice for raids on Orochimaru's bases as Sound is more of a series of such locations and not a true village, at least not yet. The reason that they have to take this route is that in the story I'm writing no treaty exists with Waterfall for the use of their water ways and in real life I didn't have this map to show me that there is a second route to the sea via river from Konoha.

This is just one use I've had for a map like this, the others are so I can see where anyone is going for missions and get an idea of how long the trip would most likely be. Three days running from Konoha to Wave could happen since the first Marathon was to send a message to Greek forces after Thermopoli but that was 26 miles and it took a few hours. Based on that, what I know from mine and my son's military experience the pace set in canon was still a little too fast for an old man, Tazuna, to maintain. With this map I can now say in my story that it's going to take at least a week of pushing hard to reach Suna from Konoha. It's going to take longer as once Naruto and his party meet their Namekazi guides the plan is two weeks of learning to survive in the desert. That clan didn't die with Minato in my story but still live as they've always have, as nomadic traders. Kind of like the merchants on the old Silk Road linking Europe with Asia via the Middle East. Naruto is a member of the clan but not as important as Konoha has always made Minato out to be, he's actually the son of a bastard father since Minato's parents never married until years after his death. If you want to know more you'll need to read Tip Of The Spear at FFN.

That's not a shameless plug but more of a good reason the map is important to my story. It helps me to build a believable world over the life of the story and let's me shape the way the characters live, fight and react to situations. Because I now know where places are in the world I can now plan the next mission after the ones currently active. Naruto is going to send several teams to Sora to salvage what they can in the way of gaining some form of airpower in the event that Snow/Spring refuses to provide Konoha a few airships. This is not canon Naruto, I never intended it to be but it's an AU with a very smart, strong and young Naruto getting his village for a war that he's doing his best to delay but one that will happen in the next four years. He also has Sakura as his loving wife by his side as well as at least one other strong girl later on. Canon pairings were tossed out the window and the Uchiha had more than a few survivors of the massacre, Sasuke still loses his parents but still has lots of cousins still living. His fiance is not who you'd expect but no one has complained, she is after all a good blank slate to build on.

I'm sorry that this is so long but I can't help but be excited at the possibilities this map has given my story. Once again thank you very much for this map, it's already a big help to Tip Of The Spear.
