Honestly reading this bill made me laugh.

Its like Bill 156 decided to make Manga and Anime, cigarettes and booze. You know that they're are just going to be kids that get there older brother or sister getting it for them. And the fact that they are keeping "real world" issues like rape and child pornography, is just pure lol.

Secondly the only great games that have come out of Japan is Square and H-games, it'll only boost the rest of the worlds gaming market now that Square can't be "violent".

Lastly I would like to say that if they can't have anime or manga at least we still have Hard Gay to play with the children:

p.s. mod wheres the Hard Gay emote!

This is EXACTLY what I figured would happen. Ishihara is probably even worse than the politicians in my country. This guy is a straight-up jackass. Simple as that. Like I've said before, there isn't any transparency in the bill. If the bill had allowed readers' associations to work with the government, the implementation of this bill would be more effective and most importantly, transparent.

I figure the manga creators will find ways around it just like they did the earlier laws. We'll probably see a lot of titles jump the characters ages up to 17, and new series start with the characters being 17. Basically they do that and the law doesn't have any effect on them.

In Naruto the majority of the characters are at least nearing 17 if not older. Sakura has probably just turned 17, since we know it's finally passed winter. (heh, and notice Studio Pierrot already took advantage of that too- Sakura's naked back in the latest ending animation...)

Yeah, I'm betting that was a poke at the new law.....

So how would this effect the Big 3 (Naruto, Bleach and One Piece)?

More specifically, how would this effect future narusaku moments that could possibly harbor a sexual nature behind them or narusaku moments with sexual implications?

I don't know much about laws in Japan but by American standards I'm not big on censorship. I believe that freedom of speech should allow television studios and writer to have swearing, violence and partial nudity (along with other stuff) as a form of artistic expression. Just because some angry parents where offended by some scene(s) of significant violence/swearing/nudity/whatever from a TV show that there kids where watching doesn't mean that the government should step in and censor the media. It should be the parents responsibility to actually be parents and tell there kids what they can and can't watch. Plus they shouldn't blame the shows for "corrupting" there kids and try to make the world more kid friendly, they should just tell there kids not to watch certain shows if they have such a problem with them in the first place. Besides, kids are going to find out about swearing and sexuality sooner or later, so what's the point in censorship in the first place? Why try so hard to delay the inevitable? Let's also not forget that violence and death are all around us 24-7 so it's pretty pointless to try and censor it. Death is a natural part of life and if we try to hide the fact of death from kids by sugarcoating television with the absence of violence and death then there first experience with death won't go to well if they're at an age where most people can grasp the idea of death.

Back on topic: I hope this doesn't effect any future narusaku moments and I would very much appreciate having my question answered. sleep.gif

I wouldn't worry about it interfering with any future narusaku moments. Kishimoto tends to keep things pretty low key on the sexiness between romantic couples, plus as I said, Sakura is 17 now and Naruto is only about 6 months from his 17th birthday. In fact, from the way the law is worded, Sakura being the older of the two actually helps matters. smile.gif

Heh, I was just thinking, I bet Yuu Watase is glad she had Takiko be 17 already at the start of Genbu Kaiden. (the Fushigi Yuugi prequel that is still running- nearing it's ending though.) I hope she does Byakko Kaiden next- most fans wanted that more than Genbu Kaiden. I think, like me, many fans want to see Tokaki and Subaru fall in love- Tokaki is like a blend of Jiraiya and Naruto and Subaru pretty much a blend of Tsunade and Sakura- favoring Sakura more, where Tokaki favors Jiraiya more. I bet she makes Suzano 17 now! There will actually be at least two romances that develop in Byakko Kaiden Tokaki/Subaru and Tatara/Suzano.

Didn't you read what I said earlier? This bill DOESN'T affect the Big 3!! It only affect the manga (more like the very romantic and yaoi/yuri/BL mangas that are taking the hit) that has stuff that are likely near or is supposed to be viewed in the adult mangas. Even if we have a NaruSaku moment when they're starting to really getting it on like rabbits, as ciardha said, Kishimoto will probably keep things low, or in other words, making it tasteful or making it implied when someone actually said they are doing it. (Similar to what Shaman King did with Yoh and Anna.)

my old buddy ken akamatsu might have to figure out whether he wants to take his manga in a more clean direction of simply start drawing H manga again. other then that a few of my favorite manga might be checked into the H section by their own standards. shounen type manga should be in the safe since a majority of em are battle manga, the few that are ecchi might have to rethink themselves.

why yes. that is my adorable sister hugging a dakimura. got a problem?

So basically, if teenage characters in a manga series are 17, the creators can get away with mild sexual implications (like silhouettes of two characters getting it on or like two characters laying in bed after doing it for example)? I didn't read the links so please feel free to explain it to me as simply as possible (I'll read them after typing this but I doubt that I'll understand it fully).
