#704635 I know...

Posted by Fanwoman on 14 December 2014 - 12:37 AM

Welcome to Heaven and Earth~ And your meme is spot on. The destruction of all these capable and developed characters is truly tragic...  I honestly don't care if NH is canon or not, just the way it went about was absolutely horrible. I actually shipped NaruHina up until Part 2 when Sakura became more intriguing. Her development I mean. It just showed so much potential of her falling for Naruto, and I just thought that would be perfect. For Naruto to get his happy ending. For Sakura to get her happy ending, after so much heartbreak. For Hinata to become a better kunoichi, and still look up to Naruto. For Sasuke to finally be left alone, yet in peace with his friends and family.

I think we're all pretty upset with how it ended up. Naruto was one of my most favorite shows. NaruHina romance wasn't the reason why I watch it. It never was for anyone. So why does Kishi expect us all to just, accept it, and love it... He should've expected a lot of people to dislike it. More than half the fans Japan. The rational fans from other places in the world. Just why NaruHina? As a person who formerly shipped this, I think anyone can see the major flaws that go with that pairing. A shame Kishi of all people didn't see it in his own manga...

Anyways I hope you enjoy it here! It's a very nice forum :)

Thanks! One of my NaruHina fan friends said she didn't like the ending either, since there was no explanation. She had always assumed it would be NaruSaku, since that was what made sense.

Love your sig gif and what you say after it!

Oh, and thanks for checking out my meme!

#694601 Who's the heroine? Sakura or Hinata?

Posted by Fanwoman on 08 December 2014 - 03:51 AM

I enjoy reading manga for the same reason I enjoy reading any good work of art/literature. Because I like reading the stories.

But lately I keep hearing that "in Japan a heroine is the main character's love interest". Now I've never heard that before, and I've never really noticed it. So, I figured I'd throw it out to the more knowledgeable of us out there. To the real Japanophiles out there, or hell people who actually are in Japan if we have some.

Cause to me it just sounds like a BS excuse, but I can say I honestly don't know.

Let's take "Dragon Ball." Bulma is clearly the #1 gal of the series, and Goku the hero. Do they end up together? No. Did Bulma stop making useful mechanical things--being herself--when she had a kid? No.

Then again, that was then. The times, they are a changing.

While I can't imagine the gals of "One Piece" or "Bleach" all settling down to raise kids and set aside their abilities, there is something I was hoping to discuss in this thread. That is the change from tsundere characters being the leading ladies of shonen series--like Sakura--to moe characters like Hinata taking that role. This can be seen in series like "Blue Exorcist," where the tsundere character is a minor secondary character and the main gal is moe. Of course, these days, one of each like they had back in the day doesn't seem to be enough, because you also seem to need a harem in shonen--a prepubescent girl, an older woman, etc.

I believe Sakura was pushed aside because her character type has fallen out of fashion. Since she was less popular, there was no need to handle her character well...not that any of them really were. (Why show Kurenai if you aren't even going to color her eyes correctly?!) Still, I fully believe the rising popularity of moe characters is a major factor in why things turned out the way they did.

Sakura is cleaning her house, but she has her yin seal and her clothes aren't very housewife material. Unless you have a maid, you also clean your house. I'm not a woman and I have a maid, and I still clean my house from time to time. If there's anyone who quit being a ninja, it would be these characters, not Sakura who still her her yin seal: Hinata babysitting her child and visiting her cousin in the cemetery, Tenten is a shop keeper, Temari is serving tea to her brother.

The only rookie who cares about the Kage Summit is Shikamaru. The other rookies don't care about it. Shino is at the academy teaching. Hinata is at the graveyard and doesn't speak of her husband's meeting either. Ino, Sai, Chouji and Karui are in a training field hoping to train their kids. Temari is at home with her brothers, Lee is training and TenTen is playing shop owner. Sasuke is doing something elsewhere. Even from the kids, only Bolt cares. It's a point that nobody else cares. He tries to recruit them and they all find more interesting things to do. And he only cares because he's jealous, not because the Summit is important..

There is nobody doing kick-ass ninja stuff. it's a point of the epilogue that things are not the same as beforeto need training. Even Sasuke on a mission is just walking around. Shino is teaching, Lee is training, and Ino and Chouji (along their respective partners) are at a place where they're going to train. I don't see the difference between them and Sakura still having her yin seal. It implies they're all on active duty, even if they're not doing anything ninja at the moment.

Sakura's goal was to make Sasuke accept her, train so she wouldn't be left behind and protect her teammates. She did all of that and in the epilogue, she's with Sasuke, an d she still has her yin seal. What goal did Sakura fail at exacly?

Where does it say Sakura's a single mother? Sasuke is on a mission, not absent. There are Uchiha fans on the bookcase Sakura is cleaning, and Sarada calls Sasuke her papa (not formally, but affectionately). And Sasuke was big on family, thinks Sakura is his family, now has a family, and you think he'd be an absent father? NaruHina and ShikaTema aren't shown together either, are they single parents too?

I'm sure the "single mother" is figurative, but it's a valid point. Clearly Salada misses her father because he is often absent.

As to Sakura dusting not being evidence of her being a housewife--nonsense. This is the last time we see her. If we were meant to think she was still working as a doctor in the hospital or whatever she might do in a peaceful world, it could have been shown. It wasn't. This is intentional. We know all we need to about Lee from a single panel. Sakura had many, but we're supposed to assume she's more than they portray? Does that mean Temari and Hinata just happen to be off from work in the afternoon, too? Sorry, but I don't buy it.

These gals could have been shown doing any number of other things, but they weren't. There's no reason, no even Sakura's yin seal, to assume they're more than what they appeared--housewives. After all, Tsunade had her seal when she was nothing but a drunk gambler. Having the power doesn't mean you use it.

#694442 The Last: Naruto the Movie: Thread 2 aka The Last retcon: Hinata-sama the movie

Posted by Fanwoman on 08 December 2014 - 02:22 AM

You know what I can't understand, why is it that people are ok with all the magical retcon that is in this movie?? Like do you all think that fans supporting The Last don't want to express their disappointments with it because they don't want to admit that they glorious movie is absurd?  I've really been thinking about it and if NH was actually properly worked on during the 15 years of the manga then a movie like this would be alright and it would be believeable on its own. It's very existence would be there to add upon their development and having it be all shojo and fluffy would be pure fan service, which would be ok because if it was done right their relationship would make sense and so a full out love story would be alright for the last movie.

However things are changed for it to make sense, and people being alright with that is mind boggling to me. How can people be alright with the flash backs of young Naruto making perfect shadow clones when it's canon that he cant do that. Or how about Hinata being made fun of because of her eyes. We then have the apparent assignment that allows Naruto to fall in love with Hinata, and we have young team 7 already being established. This is the biggest insult to Naruto fans. A canon movie is changing canon events because "reasons"

Then I can't understand how Hinata is a damsel in this movie, but yet she becomes the heroine and is OP at the end. I've seen her scramble and scream when she walks into a spider web, and I've seen her dangle from a scarf calling for Naruto to save her when she can very well use chakra to attach herself to the wall, or she can land gracefully on the ground if she lets go, yet she can't do that because she needs saving. Then that's thrown out the window in the end because shes the only one who can really save the day with her husbano. It's all just a joke really. Supporters for it will look at how much it's made and blah blah blah but a sh*tty movie is a sh*tty movie, no matter how much money it makes.

Wha...?! Naruto can do a shadow clone before he stole the scroll that lets him do shadow clones? Hinata somehow forgets how to use ninjutsu to do basic things like stand on things and land? What? What? What? How does that make any sense in any way, shape or form? It's impossible to take it any other way than them no caring about the series or history of the characters.

And, really, the making fun of Hinata's eyes has always sounded like the biggest BS for sympathy for her. No one in their right mind would make fun of a Hyuga because they're the #1 clan in Konoha. They can make your heart stop with a poke of their fingers! They're scary! Gah!

...brain hurting.

Retcon, thy name is Naruto the Last.

#693890 Am I the only one...

Posted by Fanwoman on 07 December 2014 - 09:01 PM

...who wasn't thrilled with how some of the characters other than Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, and Hinata ended?

While the obvious pair to be discussing here is NaruSaku, I'm kind of surprised how no one seems to be talking about the fates of other ninja. So how about the rest of the crowd, Heaven & Earth?

Maybe this should be broken up into a post for each team, but that might not generate enough posts to make a thread worthwhile.

I confess, I am a ShikaTema fan, have been since their first fight, but I can't say I'm okay with our first jonin of that generation seeming to be a housewife. Admittedly, unlike Ino, Sakura and Hinata, she was not shown to have any practical, non-martial skills like healing or seeing through things, but to be a housewife? Surely there's something she could do, like using her wind skills for power generation or something? With that how-the-heck-did-they-develop-that-fast-in-15-to-20-years city, they would need all the power they could get!

As mentioned in my other thread, I'm good with Choji and Karui as a couple, and I adore their sassy, self-confident daughter. I was never emotionally invested enough to be bothered by Karui being a housewife, and Choji seemed good in the few panels he was given.

I'm also okay with Ino and Sai, since at least Ino is actively trying to teach her kid ninja skills. And Sai ending up with anyone is kind of a triumph for him, having always been so separate from everyone else while in Root. I kind of feel sorry for their kid, stuck between a determined mom and disinterested would-be teammates. I wish him luck. Ino-Shika-Cho rocks, and it would be sad if that ended with their generation. Then again, Team 10 was little better at that age, so who knows?

I'm glad Shikamaru is Naruto's right-hand-man, like he intended.

It was nice Konohamaru, Udon, Moegi, Iruka, and Shizune got panel time. I'm glad Udon got that sinus problem dealt with.

I feel sorry for Tenten's business, but at least she has a career. Plus she got to keep those awesome weapons from the war.

Lee seems happy, carrying on the legacy of Gai with his own disciple. Go, Lee!

I feel really sorry for Gai, though. How is it they could regrow Naruto and Sasuke's hands but not fix Gai? That seems like bull to me.

It was nice to see all the retired Kages alive and kicking, but Mei still whining about not finding a guy was just lame. She couldn't find someone in all that time? It was also nice seeing all of the current Kages and entourages and that everyone was still working together despite all the years since the war.

Hinata seems happy--good for her and her girl--but it really bothers me that there was no hint as to the fate of her clan. Wasn't that supposed to be important to her? Wasn't that supposed to be important to Konoha? For goodness sakes, they nearly went to war with Kumo over byakugan a generation ago! WTH? It's peace so no one is after eyes that can see through walls? Not likely!

Then there's Kiba. I've liked his brash self ever since he laughed when he thought Sakon and Ukon were about to kill him and Akamaru at the end of the Sasuke Rescue Arc. Plus, he has a dog he can talk to, which I think is awesome. Of all the guys, his was the ending I was most peeved about. He seemed to be a bum and was used as a joke. It was not cool that everyone has some amount of success, but all he has is an ancient dog, a puppy, and that cat girl who laughs at him. I have been told he's the least liked Rookie, but that's no excuse to treat him like that.

I was initially thrilled Shino was the first one we saw in 700. Unlike Kiba, he has a job, one that should have some respect and give him attention, but he, too, was used primarily as a joke. Hinata gets her happy, but her teammates get to be jokes? That just stinks.

I was happy Kurenai's girl was an active ninja--Yay, a second active kunoichi from the post-Rookie generations!--and I was somewhat curious about what she was going to be doing with Kakashi and Gai, but Kurenai...? She finally got to jonin; got saddled with a team of genin; got knocked up; quit being a ninja. Seems a sad waste to me.

Kakashi being Kage makes sense. Retiring and handing it over to Naruto works for me. That he's still hale and friends with Gai and Kurenai is also nice. I'm good with how things turned out with him. He's not alone and didn't seem sad. He got to be Kage in his friend's stead.

Sakura...well, I'm sure enough has been said about how she ended up. Dusting? Really? That'll be the last we see of her? Nothing was more disappointing, but that her girl has to grow up with an absentee father...? That's just sad. How is that supposed to be a happy ending for either of them, or even Sasuke, for that matter? Ugh!

Finally, Naruto. He's Hokage like he wanted. Good for him, but it seemed awful Bolt felt the need to lash out at the lack of attention. Sure, they just wanted to tie it back to the beginning of the series, but I thought Naruto was supposed to be breaking cycles! How could a guy who grew up so alone neglect his kid that much? Or is Bolt just that much of a brat? Either way, not nice.

It was a weird and uneven ending for most of them. So, how about the rest of you? Do the other characters merit a bit more discussion? Have I just missed where the discussion is happening? I know I can't be the only one to wonder how tech advanced so far so fast.

#693757 The Last: Naruto the Movie: Thread 2 aka The Last retcon: Hinata-sama the movie

Posted by Fanwoman on 07 December 2014 - 07:32 PM

I read from tumblr that some Japanese fans of Naruto hates the Last Naruto Movie. They even called Naruto the most terrible person and scumbag! If the mislead is true then Naruto's love for Sakura is fake on which he said He hates people who lie to themselves. And that Last movie, they said It's Hinata's love story not about Naruto. All the characters were put aside even Sasuke and kakashi just for Hinata. They don't care about Hinata but now they hate her! Hahaha! Screw Hinata! She just totally ruined all Naruto's character and the manga. The movie cannot compliment the canon.

I'm pretty sure junko and Nakamura were not happy about this. They know Naruto has gained nothing, while Hinata did, talking about the one sided love in the manga. Kishi chose to reciprocate Hinata's love for Naruto rather than Naruto's love for Sakura.

I don't hate Hinata. I feel she has been cheated as much as anyone else in the series, other than the NaruHina fans. I wouldn't want her to end up with someone who ignored her for years, for someone she had to nearly die for to be noticed. For the same reason I wouldn't want Sakura with Sasuke, I wouldn't want Hinata with Naruto. And I sure as heck would want more for both kunoichi than to just be housewives!

One of the other reasons I didn't want NaruHina was for Naruto's sake. I didn't want him to be made out to be just as bad as Sasuke, even if it was probably not intentional on his part. If this film suggests it's been Hinata he's been in love with the whole time, then he really is just as bad as Sasuke. It lessens Naruto.

I know it was a bit delusional overly hopeful on my part, but I'd hoped they would honestly address Naruto's love of Sakura in the film. If they had, then I might have been able to accept the ending a bit better. If they had, then Naruto would not have been diminished to a cruelly oblivious jerk when it came to Hinata's feelings. The idea that they can dismissively brush off Naruto's feelings for Sakura makes my brain hurt. That they would even want to makes them lazy writers. They should care enough about the characters to put the effort into making it make some sense.

It was bad enough as it was...but the movie has made it worse? Gah!

#693614 The Last: Naruto the Movie: Thread 2 aka The Last retcon: Hinata-sama the movie

Posted by Fanwoman on 07 December 2014 - 06:01 PM

Honestly WTF, THE SERIES WAS ABOUT AOUT PROVING YOUR WORTH, BEING ACKNOWLEDGED, BEING CONNECTED TO THIS WORLD, NOT BEING A PRISONER OF YOUR FATE AND PAST,  AND  BECOMING STRONGER AND SUCCEEDING (PEOPLE IN REAL ARE EVENTUALLY REWARDED FOR THEIR EFFORTS).

IF A FAILURE LIKE NARUTO CAN DO IT YOU CAN TOO ! THAT'S WHAT NARUTO REPRESENTED FOR THE OTHER CHARACTERS LIKE HINATA AND FOR ITS AUDIENCE

HINATA FANS TOLD ME  "ITS OK IF SHE IS NO LEADER CAUSE SHE NEVER HAD THE LOOKS OR POTENTIAL TO BE ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE". THEY UNDERSTOOD NOTHING ABOUT THE SERIES WAS ABOUT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO DECIDED THE ENDING OF THE SERIES.

I DON'T HATE HINATA... ITS HER STUPID FANS AND KISHI GIVING UP ON HIS STORY AND LEARNING NOTHING FROM HIS DAYS HE STRUGGLED TO BECOME A MANGAKA WHEN EVERYONE TOLD HIM THAT HE COULD NOT.

Oh my... I've always felt most NaruHina fans liked Hinata to the point of not caring what Naruto wanted, but that's just sad. How can they really claim to like Hinata if they don't care about the fate of the Hyuga clan and/or her place in it? How can they really claim to be fans of the series and be satisfied with that for their supposedly favorite character?

What I think is so exquisitely bogus about Sakura's dismissal of Naruto's feelings is where she gets off thinking Naruto had something to compete against. If Sasuke actually expressed some form of affection toward Sakura, rather than perpetual disregard, I could almost, maybe, see it, but Sakura's feelings for Sasuke were always one-sided. By Sakura's logic, Naruto would have been going after the whole harem of girls from their class who had one-sided infatuations with Sasuke. But he didn't. WHY? Because he was only ever interested in Sakura!
