#952132 What would be your Next Generations: Beginning?

Posted by Analyzer on 17 October 2017 - 02:09 PM in Naruto General

Inspired by the question thrown around in the debate thread, what would be your episode or chapter one, or beginning? Can be current timeline or completely revised canon or both even, don't really care, just no bashing please.

Non-Canon/Revised Canon Timeline: Brighter world about the NS Children, starting right at the beginning of them being genin on a first mission for a good hook. They'd be on the same team, easier to avoid overshadowing that way. Konohamaru would still be sensei. Immediate goal would be to establish the sibling dynamic through the mission, the son being over-protective as the mission turns dangerous, and the daughter being extremely talented and Sakura smart but also believing her brother's constant shielding is interfering with her focus and exceling. Their third member, (Mitsuki would work fine) would aid and hinder tension, as needed. Said mission would also end up touching upon the Uzumaki's clans history, and a darker side to the clan the villians could be tied to they would unearth. Could even feature Karin as a guest character.

Canon Timeline Chapter 1: Boruto starts with the same intro, but instead of jumping to the Movie timeline or the Academy, the future timeline is the main setting. All of the next gen are older in a Darker world with no Sasuke or Naruto, their fates still unknown. We'd flash back when needed, but I think the intro story being the story's actual when and where would have been really different and neat.

#947063 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 21

Posted by Analyzer on 23 August 2017 - 09:38 PM in Premiere Screenings

More or less the summary can be found in Gaiden, but the beginning is a Previous On, you can skip if you've already watched.

Afterwards, you see Sasuke be surprised that Sarada is there. Naruto and Chocho follow shortly after, and Sarada asks her father if Sakura is her real mom, who the people of Taka are, why he won't come home. He answers that it has nothing to do with her. Inbetween this is a hospital scene with Shizune and Sakura talking, and she explains why she didn't say anything about the Taka Photo (Fear of her conscientious father learning of his criminal history). Later, she departs the hospital when Shizune returns to do a test, to go find her daughter.

Sasuke answers Sarada's question that it has nothing to do with her. This offends Sarada and she departs angrily. Naruto tries to cheer her up and then convince her not to run off to ask Karin the question. Shin attacks with little Shin, but Naruto cloaks and protects Sarada. Sasuke enters and attacks Shin, and Shin cleverly marks the sword during the attack. Afterwards, a fireball from Sasuke at Shin is shielded by little Shin. As Sasuke does his next attack, his sword goes into Naruto due to Shin's Mark. The Cloak fading, the thrown weapons spin and attempt to strike Sarada, but Sasuke shields them. Right when Shin exclaims he is going to take the Sharingan, he gets punched down by Sakura. Sarada marvels at the Team 7 power, Here, Kurama calls Naruto rusty. Sakura hugs Sarada (This display of affection is probably going to get referenced later). Sakura then apologies, then Sasuke apologies. While Naruto is dragging the Shins over, the little eye creature does transportation, attempting to get the Shins and Sarada, but sakura pushes her out of the way and she is taken instead.

This was a decent episode, and as I posted in another thread, made me appreciate that the SS family is not a happily ever after family.

The animation was well done, and the work on the facial expressions was especially noteworthy as touching. The use of flashbacks to show Sasuke recalling things got us in to his thoughts, which was a nice touch.

Chocho continues to function as comic relief. Personally, I think it's a little too hammered in constantly, and it could be cut a little more

Sarada's reactions to the Team 7 power levels was amusing.

The Kage Meeting was unfortunately cut, though showing the post after events seemed to do just fine.

Otherwise it was a nice episode, would recommend watching it.

#943253 Boruto Naruto Next Generations: Episode 15

Posted by Analyzer on 17 July 2017 - 07:03 PM in Premiere Screenings

I noticed no one summarized it, so I will.

Sumire hasn't returned to class and her classmates are worried she won't return or Transfer. Sai's son notes that his father was looking up other academies, and Shino reveals that Sumire has to make her own decision in regards to what she does. Boruto asks his Dad about it, angry that he can't just "Fix it", but Naruto points out like Shino that it is what Sumire wants. Shino also goes to Iruka, pushing for Sumire's return as well, and when he is told something about her when he sets the rest of the class on team of three exercises, he leaves and asks Sarada to supervise. Sumire ultimately chooses to return to the joy of her classmates.

We also are revealed that Boruto's eye has not appeared to react since, which Toneri states as well in his mistifying prophecies. Toneri also predicts the entrance of the villains of the Boruto movie to be soon, and we get to see a small scene of them towards the end.

At the end, we get the piece that the Nue was a Kaguya jutsu through a talk had by Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke is asked to come back to see his family for a day(?), but he continues on his mission.

Might re-watch and edit the above if I have time. Comments below:

I was kind of disappointed Sumire isn't written out with the opportunity provided. But I will change my mind if Sumire sees use and doesn't just "vanish".

The tying in they do with later material is nice, giving a bit more background to future events.

Overall, I really like Shino's development. It's great we see him used from his not-so-developed Naruto Manga self.
