Microsoft the gift that you don't want that keeps on giving :glare:

I will say that I'm pretty disappointed in MS. It's just been slap-in-the-face after slap-in-the-face from them for their new console.

Oi, something just hit me. Will either of these systems offer backwards-compatibility? Has either MS or Sony even mentioned this about either of their systems? I don't remember seeing or hearing any news on this

Late response on this, but Sony is working to allow backwards compatibility with PS3 games and PSN titles through a Cloud service. So... kind of? I mean, it sucks you won't be able to use the disc but that would require extra parts in the system which drives up the cost.

Microsoft isn't offering any BC at all.

I will say that I'm pretty disappointed in MS. It's just been slap-in-the-face after slap-in-the-face from them for their new console.

Yeah, wow. It's almost comical. Just when you think they're done kicking you in the face, along comes another.

Really, the only thing that was controversial with the X1 was their policy on used games and online stuff, take that away (and price it to match the PS4), it has a lot of good games that can back it up.

I don't know, the only thing sounding appealing to me is Titanfall. Add in Halo if you care about that.

I would have put Killer Instinct there, but guess what? It's free to play and you have to buy each character! Isn't that just lovely? I swear, it's like they hate their consumers.

Seriously, why would anyone buy this thing?

Reggie on used games:

"We have been very clear, we understand that used games are a way for some consumers to monetize their games," Fils-Aime said. "They will buy a game, play it, bring it back to their retailer to get credit for their next purchase. Certainly, that impacts games that are annualized and candidly also impacts games that are maybe undifferentiated much more than [it] impacts Nintendo content. Why is that? Because the replayability of our content is super strong. The consumer wants to keep playing Mario Kart. The consumer want to keep playing New Super Mario Bros. They want to keep playing Pikmin. So we see that the trade-in frequency on Nintendo content is much less than the industry average – much, much less. So for us, we have been able to step back and say that we are not taking any technological means to impact trade-in and we are confident that if we build great content, then the consumer will not want to trade in our games."

Miyamoto on used games:

“We’re more worried about piracy and we think used games are a whole other story. In fact, from our perspective you want to create a game that people will want to keep and keep playing for a long time. That’s the approach that we always take and that’s the best way to avoid used games.”

Nintendo dropping knowledge, make  your games worth keeping and they won't get traded in.

Nintendo's always been like that. It's part of why I like them. It's also why, despite the fact that I make jokes, I don't want them to fail and I want them to do well. Gaming always needs voices like theirs out there.

It has been a terrible year for Microsoft has it?

First everyone wasn't feeling it for Windows 8

and now...no one likes X Box One...to be honest...even the name makes me feel sour.

Videogames aren't what they used too...I will just get Assassins Creed Black Flag, Grand Theft Auto V, Saints Row IV, and Battlefield 4, and that will be it...

That wasn't a shock. M$ has this weird thing where they seem to follow the Star Trek rule for their operating systems. Every other one is garbage, always followed by a good one.

It explains XB One as well; Microsoft never learns its lesson regarding forcing restrictive s*** with their operating systems, so why are we shocked they didn't get the memo with consoles?

I appreciate all platform systems...except Xbox one.

Here's a joke:

Why does the new xbox is called" one"? Because it's" one" piece of crap lol :fan:

Because release date will be so bad, that only one person will purchase it.

Yeah, I've always liked that approach.

Quite often, you get these expensive blockbuster titles that only take 10 hours or less to finish in single-player, and they offer no incentive to replay them once you're done with the story.  So it's only natural that people will just sell off those games for a new one.  Why should we be punished for wanting to resell something we bought with our own money?

I usually keep all my games.

Which is scary because if I ever move out, I need a whole bookcase just for them.
