I think Kishi chooses to put on the covers the highlights of the volume andwhat he considers important.

It was one of the more dramatic moments of the last few chapters. It generated great interest on the pairing side (150 pages for on chapter here), it was a first (he killed one of the rookies when many, including me, thought he didn't have the stones to do it (now stick to it Kishi! no asspul revivals), and Naruto finally got it through his head (after what three tries), that the war is more than just about him and Sasuke.

It was a big deal, so this is no surprise. So, I tend to agree with you.

QUOTE
It's not just them, I agree. But they are the center of attention; out of every moment Kishi could have chose he chose them holding hands. I really thought we got spared of that when 616 came out and Sasuke stole the color pages. Unfortunately we weren't. I think of covers with Narusaku and they never had that, they didn't get their hug or any real physical contact on covers.

I'm seeing alot of people being hypocritical because of the "it means something" reactions to Road To Ninja, technically filler/non-canon, compared to this (drawn by Kishimoto, in the manga) and how it means nothing.

I agree, and it's less meaningful that people make it out to me. At least, in my opinion, anyway.

My standard on anything that is not within the pages of the manga (not including cover art) is that I need something that whatever is created is proof of some kind of intent coming from the author.

Filler was easy because it's written by someone other Kishimoto and apprently not at his specific direction. The covers and RtN are not. Still, for RtN to somehow to be proof of anything in terms of pairings, I would think you would need some kind of knowledge about why he wrote it. Could it be a gift to the fandom he's about to burn (like with Avatar)? Would he do anything pairing related that devianted from his intended conclusion? Could it a hint of things to come or is it just a fun AU and nothing more? How would we know?

Covers are the same way (both chapter and volume). Without something showing that they are intended to have some hidden meaning or value for predicting the future then I find it hard to believe that they are anything that what they appear to be: Cover artwork. I find it difficult to believe that this cover is sending some additional message something beyond was already said in 615. If that chapter worried you, then probably does too. If not, I wouldn't sweat over it.

QUOTE
SAKURA is the HEROINE. She will always be. I get that she didn't have a role in this volume. I'd like a cover with her and Naruto that's not just them being the main characters for once.

I'm not sure this story has a heroine at this point. Sakura gets sideline for huge periods of time and no one has really taken the mantel. Both Hinata and Sakura seem more intangled in the subpot than the primary plot. Oh well, we'll see.

QUOTE
Correct: Naruhina is not canon.

I want to believe its the end of Hinata development/Naruhina resolution but I cant anymore because we've been saying that since she confessed and it just hasn't ended. I think it will be the end if Naruto confirms he still loves Sakura. While I believe he does and there's no evidence that points to him giving up on his love for her, confirmation of it should shut the nay-sayers up.

He wrote it where it he could do both. She got what she explicity stated she wanted. He could stop, but nothing about the scene prevents him from doing more.

QUOTE
I agree that it doesn't confirm Naruto loves Hinata. He still loves Sakura. smile.gif

I agree. It does little to develop the Naruto part of NaruHina. It would be really damning it he had developed the Naruto part more than he did.

The bolded. I feel like Naruto is now realizing this and it's pretty ridiculous that it took him this long. He's willing to throw his life and dreams away for Sasuke and I can't stand it to be honest. Hopefully he sticks with doing what's right because if he meets with Sasuke and talks about dying with him again, I'm gonna be pissed. One, because it's stupid, and two because after everything these people have done for him, he's still falling back...

Y'know what I honestly would love?? if Naruto starts playing hero again and neglects everyone else, I'd like Minato to give him a well-deserved pimpslap. Because of 2 things: this makes him even with their initial meeting, and no one would be able to get through him as well as Minato could, like in RtN. So yeah, the pimpslap he gave in RtN may very well be reprised.

And for once, he knows how it truly feels what it feels like to have a parent setting him up straight.

Neglects everyone else? LOL Has he done this before?

I wouldn't mind a meeting between he and his father but at this point since he's already gotten a pep talk from the one and only, how will that play out? I can't wait until this flashback finishes...

I think that if Naruto meets his father he will implicitly meet the other Hokages, who probably will acknowledge him as their heir, Hashirama will talk about Sasuke and intrust their desire for peace to Naruto.

I think it has, and what makes Sakura the heroine is becasue she's connected to the primary plot which is basically Sasuke, this kid is the main plot to a point that the War itself is meaningless just because he's still emo evil.

About Sakura getting sidelined, i dont see any another female character that had an entire mini-arc centered on her, the kage's summit she drove the plot.
The part that i pissing off her fans is that she didnt had a fight on the war arc she got sidelined because she's a medic ninja, but also the good part is that she didnt got her development so i believe Kishimoto is saving something for her, because her development is still half-done, she only need to move on from Sasuke to Naruto and get more stronger to support Naruto, this is the reason why she's the main heroine.
She's part of the team 7 and the story proved it on the begining. and on the begining of part 2.

Unfortunately, for a LK fan like myself, it really didn't come through. Now I can get R.Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly song and for some reason, Mariah Carey's song Fly Like a Bird plays here too... tongue.gif

Ah, the topic lasted 5 pages! *clap clap* anyways I won't deny that this is just going to bite us in the head, not because of Naruto and Hinata holding hands or anything of the sort but because it adds unneeded ammunition to those that will abuse like no tomorrow. That said, I still don't like the cover because it is depressing. It's not exciting or tense, you know to make the person want to read the volume, it just looks like a sob fest honestly. Again not because of NH, it just looks depressing plain and simple

Ofc it was the impression on 615 left that Naruto would fight with Hinata against the juubi, a duo, and it didnt happened.
SHe wasnt even focused on 616 only on the begining which didnt had importance, Naruto still didnt show feelings for Hinata.
This is the reason why i dismiss i thought that the cover would show something like that and still Naruto's focus was on Neji which was reasonable since eh was thinking about Neji during that moment.

Like i said many times, i never said it was just a moment to transfer chakra, Naruto acknowledged/thanked both Neji and Hinata on the scene the handholding represent this, i just cant take 615 as a "PAIRING MOMENT NARUHIHA LOLOL" when Naruto was talking with the Kyuubi and on his head he was deeply thinking about Neji.
How can this be mutual if Naruto's head was not thinking about Hinata.
It's just doesnt make sense, how can be a pairing moment when we had kyuubi, Naruto thinking about Neji and Hinata talking and people wanting to give all the credit to Hinata when Naruto does not even support this, and even the cover does not support this.

And moreover the only development that NaruHina always wanted is Naruto >> Hinata and it didnt happened, 616 like i said could be a chapter which we could have Naruto >> Hinata.
Fighting alongside and more other stuff.

Like i said a pairing moment must be mutual like char X with char Y mutually thinking about each other and/or talking with each other.
Not Naruto holding Hinata's hand, talking with the Kyuubi and thinking about Neji.

Yet another trolling moment to NH by Kishi. 616 could have been another perfect chance to develop the pairing. Like you said he could have shown Naruto and Hinata still holding hands and fighting together against the Jyuubi giving them more development together as a team *makes a negative buzzer sound* that didn't happen. Instead Naruto lets her hand go and went off to give his chakra to everyone to fight" together" against the Jyuubi. You were also right about 615 not been an official NH moment since Naruto was only thinking about Neji (once again it was one sided from Hinata's part).

Reposting cause i posted it in the wrong thread. sweatdrop.gif

Not sure if something like this has been mentioned before, but I may of just cracked the code to the cover.

Hinata wanted to stand by Naruto's side holding his hand during that chapter where they were all going off to be with him with Obito, right?
Well, that cover is basically closure on that moment. She got to.

I have a question.
I was reading the Anti-NaruHina FC on NarutoForums (not exactly the best place to go since they never stay on topic) and someone said that Kishi apparently said that Neji's death was a trampoline for NaruHina and this cover backed it up. huh.gif Is there truth in this? Or was that a part of the fake interview on April Fools?

Unless there's solid proof somewhere, I wouldn't put too much stock in it. It seems like everyone puts words into poor Kishi's mouth, with shipping fans doing it way more than anyone else. I really don't think he'd talk about Neji's death so callously.

At least I hope not.

Oh, I get which post bothered you... Not, that was only a speculation from that user.. It was just his thought...

Also because Kishimoto wouldn't never say a such thing sleep.gif" (we hope so at least). Using a death of someone for making canon a couple is the worst thing possible.

While Im sure some writers have done it, none of the will admit to killing a good character off just to get two characters together.

Unless Neji's death acted as some out of the blue love potion for Naruto to instantly change his feelings I don't think so. If NH must happen I want it done properly and with Care like how he did with NS after all this time
