Deathbattle: Gaara vs Toph Thoughts?

Thoughts? I think a lot of people were expecting the opposite. I actually was on board with the ending. I'll be back with more ideas.

Favorite Naruto Moments

06 November 2014 - 02:12 AM

So in light of things that may be happening there's been a tidal wave of negativity, and while Kishimoto hasn't always been the best writer nor has Naruto always been satisfying, we can't deny that there were some key things that we did like, otherwise we would've never wound up here. It couldn't have all been just NaruSaku, even if towards the end that may have been all there was to it. So in light of Naruto ending tomorrow I thought we'd share some of our favorite moments either from the manga or anime. A lot of my moments, especially comedic are small ones but I like them.

Edit too long of a list, no one would read it. I shortened it to the most impactful ones on me

Favorite Dramatic Moments

Part 1

--Naruto's determination is so great to protect Sakura that he continues to crawl towards Gaara even after they're both completely injured and out of strength from their awesome battle.

--Gaara apologizes to Kankuro and Temari. Their faces of surprise and his humbleness. You could tell Naruto was starting to change.

--FAVORITE dramatic moment! Rock Lee's fight with Gaara midway through the Chunin exams

Not gonna lie, whether the manga or the anime, this moment always gets to me. We get an passionate under dog story/ a powerful adopted parent/child story/ a great fight/ and a tragedy all in one moment. From the silly first moment Rock Lee believes he tricks luck by saying he didn't want to be next to the final moments when we discover he many never be able to succeed at what he'd trained so ridiculously hard for, this moment is both fulfilling and saddening.

Shippuden

-- Heaven and Earth Bridge/ Sakura tries to stop  Naruto/ Sakura heals him

--Ebisu refuses to give Naruto up to Pain/ Tsunade says Naruto is strong.

--Jiraiya's death

--Sakura calls for Naruto after Pain destroys the village and he appears.

This was just an awesome moment. Her home and friends are left in shambles, hurt and confused, she cries out for the one person who has always tried his best to be there for everyone, for her.

--Kushina and Minato Sacrifice themselves trying to protect Naruto/ meets his mom for the first time

--Guy vs anyone, seriously, in contrast to how silly he comes across, he showed how awesome he was especially against Kisame and Sage-mode MADARA!

--Naruto and Sasuke's final battle and talk

the fight for as short as it was was far more emotional than the one from part 1 and just much more raw. And while the resolution might not have been to everyone's liking, it was I think a fitting end, where, without brute force but sheer will and care reach Sasuke.

Favorite Comedic Moments

--Naruto Uses Sennen Goroshi on Gaara in his semi-transformed state

--There's a moment in the racing arc in Part 1 where Naruto introduces himself in very dramatic fashion and before he finishes Sasuke calls him 'Usura-tonkachi' which he accidentally repeats. It's just so well timed comedically that I can't help but laugh

--Kiba cheers for Naruto as he fights Neiji

It is so loud and instant that I can't help but laugh every time I see this.

--When Gai has to carry Kakashi after they save Gaara. Naruto comments on how it looks worse when he's running.

--"I want to see it. What's under Kakashi's mask" I loved this episode. It was hilarious.

--I really liked the "Curry of Life" filler. I thought it was hilarious.

Anyway, those are my favorites I can think of right now, I haven't seen Part 1 in a while and might go back and revisit. What are yours?

Marvel Crossover with ...

Attack on Titan...

Why? Avengers will easily destroy the Titans.

Spider-man will realize that every warrior in the manga serial has his powers plus swords...

Your thoughts? I honestly don't care besides wondering WTF?! Only a few weeks.

Official The Legend of Korra thread

04 October 2014 - 03:54 AM

There were several season 4 trailer, looks, and interview clips for season 4 so I figured we'd just have one.

Looks like Zelda wasn't just a tag-on character at the end of last season. I do wonder though, if she was that awesome of a fighter, where was she during the Red Lotus take over? Anyway, wow. That button on the episode. Why Korra?!   :comfort:

The episode was a catch up episode so there was a lot of exposition to get out of the way and not much meat. The villain... Kuvira. I'm just seeing a re-hash of the conquering lands villain from the original series. What is most interesting, and what I'm most excited to see is Korra's development in this season, especially with the way the last two episodes ended.

While I do think they missed out on the challenges of her rehabilitation physically, I think the fallout from it, the scar, with her emotional rehabilitation will be more interesting. So I can forgive the time jump. It does look from the trailer as if they'll be re-visiting those moments in flashbacks.

The villain at the moment seems lackluster and repetitive, but it's only episode one. If the last two seasons are any indication, they kind of slow burn into an exciting series. -- But the villain for book two was evil-incarnate. How do you top beating evil? Maybe they should have saved that for last? We'll see. I should trust Konietzko and DiMartino more.

What are your thoughts?
