Announcing a Banner Contest!!

 

Update: The Contest has been extended for a final time, so Friday August 30 is the new deadline for entries!

 

So…in honor of Smiter's spectacular redesign, we are holding a banner contest for artwork to run across the top of the site. Our hope is that we'll have several winners so that we can have plenty of banners to choose from and keep things looking fresh.

 

So get those creative juices flowing and design some great NS artwork!

 

The Rules:

 

• All submissions must fit in the allotted size — 1920 x 400, using the H&E header template provided below.

 

• All submissions must show both Naruto and Sakura.

 

• Multiple submissions are allowed.

 

• No submissions with mature content (ie. explicit sexual and/or violent nature)

 

• Submissions MUST be your own work. Colorings are okay, as long as you credit who drew the lines. Manga lines may be used for coloring. Lines from the anime and promotional materials may also be used, as long as they are part of a larger original composition and the coloring is your own. Simply cutting-and-pasting scenes from the anime or promo material is not allowed.

 

• Submissions can be PNG or JPG.

 

• Art submitted to the contest thread can include the H&E header template over top of the image. But winning entries will need to have a separate file with just your NS image. (Make sense? Just be sure to save two copies. One with the H&E header template, and one without.) 

 

• Submit entries to the H&E Banner Contest in the Gallery.

 

The Winners:

 

The top five winners will be added to the themes, with the number one winner becoming H&E's default theme.

 

The contest will run from Wednesday, June 25, through Friday, August 30. Voting will run through the following Friday, Sep. 6.

@Pocky, you definitely should!

 

@Konan, colored manga lines are fine. And there's lots of good scenes to choose from! Sakura and Naruto when they were young. Sakura and Naruto fighting together, looking totally bad@ss. Even a progression of scenes showing them from young to current. When I started looking through the manga for examples, I had to stop because there were so many cool scenes! Lol!   So color away! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Are anime screencaps/ edits/ promotional art allowed to be used?

I think it's okay, as long as you are using it in an original composition. But just cutting and pasting an anime screencap behind the banner is not okay.

 

However if you are using an anime screencap as part of a larger digital manip, or using an image from a promotional item (like Naruto's face from a poster or something) it would be okay because you would be using a portion of the original to create your own composition.

 

We just want to make sure the artwork has the individual's own creative stamp on it. Not a mindless cut-and-paste job.
