Because Im a SasuKarin fan, and because this argument involves Nartuo, Hinata and indirectly Sakura. I share with you the wonderful Twin Enigma

It's funny because it's right. What is with fans abruptly wanting seeing characters throwing themselves in front the danger dramatically even if it would do no good?

1 - Sasuke doesn't need -or want- a human shield. Karin's FLESH will not stop anything Susano is unable to.
2 - Mizukage spits out MAGMA and belches forth ACID. Karin is supposed to stop that?
3 - Mizukage's jutsu actually melt Susano and started corroding Sasuke's flesh. Do you think Karin's skin is more sturdy?
4 - It was not only acid. It was acid MIST. Karin can't block that attack because it spreads everywhere and swallows the target. Placing herself in front of -or behind or beside- Sasuke would have done nothing.
5 - Hinata didn't protect Naruto. Like a matter of fact, she almost got him killed. And she turned a bad situation in almost hopeless.

I don't understand this obsession with self-sacrifice. I wonder how many shojo mangas and romance novels some people has read (no that there's anything wrong with them, of course. But there is nothing inherently wrong with chivalric epics, either. Don Quixote just read too many and they warped his perceptions).

Once again, I see this as the fans of "Goddess! Hinata" thinks she's almighty during dangerous situations and while they think poor Karin (and indirectly, Sakura) are particularly useless unless they pull something to stupid to them.

Indeed, this situation reeks from Hinata's worship. Or Karin bashing blended with Hinata worship. It must be a new kind of brew.

Guided by some bizarre impulse, I actually read the fanart's comments. Some of the posters actually tried defending Karin by lambasting Sakura.

Sigh.

It's... well... NOT amusing how Sakura gets bashed not only by Hinata/NaruHina/yaoi fans but also by fans of the remainder female characters.

Maybe some fans resent her because they would like their worshipped characters got more development, screentime, relevance or powerups. But those characters are not getting it, so they pick on the character who gets it.

I don't know why I'm shocked. Main characters have always received plenty hatred. When I watched Dragon Ball, a lot of fans hated Goku. When I watched Saint Seiya, a lot of fans hated Seiya. When I watched Sailor Moon, a lot of fans hated Usagi.

Or that is what it looked like. It's perfectly possible they weren't many, but they were very vocal and loud.

It's shounen you guys. If you're not able to win every fight you're in or you're not the main character's slightly less outgoing friend gay lover , you get hated on.

To start off with; I'm NOT a SasuKarin fan. Far from it, I have an incredible aversion to it and despise everything it implies. Sorry.

I still agree with this argument though. Throwing yourself in front of someone may seem like the romantic thing to do, but if it's really not going to spare their life and if they can defend themselves from it... Why? I'd argue other Karin aspects like... How the heck am I supposed to buy that she has genuine feelings for him when I have clearly seen something more fangirlish, and how I can't believe that Sasuke can throw aside Suigetsu and Juugo JUST LIKE THAT but Karin has to be the special one... Ugh. I want Suigetsu; forgive my bitterness.

unlike Suigetsu and Juugo, Karin is the only person who Sasuke has said and I quote "I need you."

he has never said I need you to anyone before not even Orochimaru or Naruto.

He told Karin he needed her, and that is a big Thing. Also he didnt say I need you for your abilities or I need your abilities. he said specifically I NEED YOU.

that is a vital distinction in the manga where Kishimoto is noted for not wasting ink on futile words.

Also when she saved him during the Killerbee fight he told her and again im quoting "Thank you karin."

he used her name and gave her a genuine thanks for her actions and even allowed ehr to hold him and rest for a moment when she was tired from the healing.

furthermore Im of the opinion that the fangirl Notion of Karin has actually been exagerated and is a mistaken appelation thats been tied to her by SasuSaku fans.

The notion comes from a few scenes where she acts a little fangirly ill admit, but it fails to take into account true fangirl behavior like Sakura displayed in part 1.
trying to change herself to suit him, always agreeing with him, that sort of thing.

She doesnt always agree with him, in point of fact shes called him an idiot on more then one occasion ((remind you of another couple we know?))

also she has not chnaged herself to suit him shes remained strong and confident in herself.

theres a defiante relationship pattern between the two and Its getting stronger.

its a relationship that I think has been drastically misconstrued by ceertain fandoms and has enormous potential in the long run.

I still don't get how he could form a relationship with someone like her, even though he has the capacity to destroy everything he's ever known, what his brother strived to protect, but of course he can find it in his jaded heart to 'need' Karin for any reason other than her healing and scouting abilities. Even if it becomes canon and everyone says it's the most logical thing since sliced bread, I just don't like how I'm supposed to buy it. Sure, Karin likes him just like many other girls do and have...

Well, wrong topic to discuss this. My point short and simple: if I'm going to argue anything against SasuKarin, it won't be her not jumping to save him.

BTW: She doesn't 'change' herself? Well, when they are alone she tries to seduce him by taking off her glasses and turns a complete 180 on him, then outrightly denies it when in company, while thinking her fangirlish thoughts in her head. She changes herself to /hide/ it around others, it intensifies when she's alone and thinking about him, and when she's alone with him she tries the seductive, sweet angle. She does this in a more teenager like fashion. Sakura's approach was more appropriate for a twelve year old girl who hasn't yet learned the ins and outs of a relationship. But that's just me.
