I checked the Gamer Loung for an existing thread on this, so I decided to make my own.

Set 15 years after the events of Alien(1979), the game follows Amanda 'Amy' Ripley, daughter of Ellen (Sigourney Weaver), who along with representatives of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, travel to the Sevastopol Trading Station to recover the black box of the USCSS Nostromo. Upon reaching it however, they find the station heavily damaged and most of the crew missing or dead, and a lone Xenomorph Drone stalking the Sevastopol's decks.

A:I is developed by The Creative Asembly, best known for the Total War series, with the game running on their own in-built engine, and has been in development since 2011. The game is a FPS Survival-Horror/Stealth, in the same vein as Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Outlast (though the game's wiki suggests inspiration from the Bioshock series and Dishonored). While they'll be more than one enemy throughout the game, the focus is to complete misson objectives all the while avoiding attracting the attention of the Alien, which cannot be killed, and will actively seek the player out with adaptive A.I. There's also talk of a 'Crafting System' of sorts that is yet to be elaborated upon.

The trailer (with links) for those who haven't seen it:

While fans of the franchise may approach this installment carefully following the general disappointment of Aliens: Colonial Marines, one must keep in mind that A:CM was produced by a different developer, and for the time being A:I appears to have what it needs to revive the series.

Just be sure to keep a second pair of pants handy. :P

Looks pretty cool but I'm not really looking forward to another amnesia clone. I just wish Visceral Games would make the next Aliens game I feel they could make a pretty great installment for the franchise instead of another disappointment.

>Isolation

>Multiple enemies besides the one you're facing

Pick one.

I hope a programmer guts this game with a mod and makes it versus Alien only. Seriously, I'm hearing there are soldiers and clones in this tripe.

New Developer Diary: Creating the Alien

I've been following Isolation since January (some of you on here may have known sooner), and I've loved everything so far (then again, fans of the series felt the same for Colonial Marines after the demo). I'll hold my hands up and say I'm usually not into the horror genre (a wuss), but if the demo turns out to be anything like what I've seen so far, then I think I might just grow a pair and put it on the 'To buy' list for this year.

I've honestly never played an Aliens game or the Predator crossovers (so this is looking like a first for me), so I can only imagine the frustration/anguish players felt after testing the Colonial Marines demo only to pre-order and recieve the disappointing final game. Most of the complaints I read online are from those who pre-ordered, which I've never done. So with that in mind, for those who are carefully optimistic, those still in doubt or just don't want to get hurt again I think the advice is simple; don't pre order, try the demo, wait for the release date and read the reviews. Then, if your worries are eased buy it. Easy enough, right?
