Here's a little help in guessing when to expect a new opening.
With most long-running anime (Naruto and Bleach in particular), openings generally change every 25-26 episodes, and during the span of one opening theme, there are two ending themes, which run for 12-13 episodes. Now the current opening debuted on episode 231, so taking the above into account, we should have a new opening by episode 257, roughly in 8 weeks time.

@Konan-chan: You have to keep in mind that a weekly chapter is anywhere between 15-19 pages long, and depending what the contents of the chapter are, you can determine how fast the anime will get through the scenes. On average one episode will cover two chapters, so a span of 50 chapters can be covered within roughly 25-27 episodes (again, depending on the content, along with whatever filler scenes the anime team decide to add). So when you think about it, filler arcs are used so that by the time the anime gets back onto the canon storyline, Kishi will have a considerable lead on them, and then we can enjoy a long run of canon episodes without the story being interupted.

The "narusaku" moment in it is not enough for me to get over the sillyness of the opening. It's so unrealistic with its motions and dumb dancing. It reminds me of one of One Piece's openings (not a good thing) with Naruto's rubber like over extended arms.
Outside of the sillyness, the opening and ending give away way too much for me. I hate it when the anime gives stuff away like that because I love that surprise that I get from the manga. So ruining Minato's entrance and giving away dark Naruto, Kyuubi-mode Naruto and even Kushina in the ending is way too much.

But then you're complaining about the opening scenes, not the song I LIKE the song.

Which OP opening? It totally did not remind me of OP.

I don't hate the current OP, but the anime can do much better. The Naru/Saku thing is nice, but it just feels too childish overall, like I'm watching some kid's cartoon. I wouldn't mind it if this OP covered the last filler arc, but it really seems awkward playing before canon material. I feel like a good OP should get me excited to watch the episode, like this one did.

We seem to have our new opening and ending for the anime based on what ANN says.

#11: "Namida no Saikai" (Tearful Reunion) by Ikimonogakari (eps 257-)
#21: "カスケード (Cascade)" by UNLIMITS (eps 257-)

This means we only have one more week of the current opening and ending. Hopefully they're good.

Ikimonogakari is the one who sang Blue Bird. Its about time they changed the OP. I hope its good. I actually thought they'll go for a more heavy rock theme for the war but I guess they would do.

I would've preferred the ED and OP switched around. UNLIMITS is the band who sang Bleach's "Haruka Kanata" which was kick-ass by the way.

The current opening is silly and has a bunch of scenes in it that don't appear in the manga or the narutoverse at all.
making signs with three diferrent people and shooting a bolt of lightning or naruto envelloping him with a fire tornade?? WTF

I could tolerate the goofy animations and dances but this fanfictionesque stuff should really be kept out of it.

I also don't get the comparison with the OP openings, they're silly but nothing you can't see happening in the anime itself.

I checked it out at NF, the truth is the Ikimonogakari information came from 2ch. But someone else later corrected that statement.

Dang, I don't really listen to J-rock, but I actually recognized Ikimono-gakari. Along with "Blue Bird", they also did an ED for Bleach (though I guess Bleach's EDs aren't really as memorable as its OPs). They also did the theme song for The 3rd Phantom video game, which was probably one of the best anime video games I've played. Not that the band was the sole reason for that, but they certainly helped.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the new OP/ED set. I really hope the OP's tone matches the upcoming arc.

I'm actually looking forward to the new opening even more now. I didn't want Ikimonogakari to have another opening for Shippuden when they already had two and I like rock music. So hopefully it's a good song and has lots of good scenes in it.
