As topic implies, I am looking for quality NaruSaku stories!
But I sorta found myself troubled by the tons of fanfictions at ff.net or the recommendations thread,
so I might need some help from experienced readers of this community to get me some! :>
Well, its actually not the sheer mass, though these sure make it difficult to pick something,
but the most of them just lack in quality, sry if that sounds offending to any writer.
These stories happen to be rushed, both in plot and character development:
I do know that it's called fan"fiction", but the setting still has to be in the Narutoverse and the plot itself has to make sense it that certain universe, being steadily developed without the use of farfetched ideas like having Sasuke coming back to Konoha marrying Hinata or such. Neither will Sasuke suddenly give up on his revenge nor will Hinata marry him, nothing indicates that and as long there is no good, thoughtful made up reasoning by the author, it will do the story harm.
Same goes for characters, especially Naruto and Sakura. A lot of writers don't manage to keep them in character, they actually have OCs, merely giving them the names of Naruto and Sakura. These two are complicated and troubled, Kishimoto did a hell of a job, developing these great characters. Trying to further develop these is just as difficult, since the author has to both keep the characters in line and present us readers something new, which we didn't exspect at all, and yet makes sense. I really dislike, I'd even say despise stories where Naruto and Sakura suddenly make out in the first chapter and you basicly do that for another 10 chapters. We all do know how NaruSakuFictions tend to end regarding the relationship betweem, but that's not a reason to rush their development. These two will not suddenly jump at each other kissing passionately, if there isn't anything developed and changed, giving them reason to. I do also understand people's need of lemons and fluff. I enjoy them myself, if they are used wisely, which they usally aren't.
Just finished the latest chapter of Shivakashi's Medicinal Lullaby and also already had the pleasure of reading DigiFruit's masterpieces, I guess these made me sorta picky :>
No need to explain the quality of DigiFruits's works. And Shivakashi manages to give us a thoughtful plot, which certainly many didn't exspect, but still fits the Narutoverse. I was like: "Aawww, that might as well be the actual storyline, if that happend at that time, etc." All the characters actions are reasonable, they might act like that under these circumstances (which also are compatible to the Nverse)
I also enjoyed Mizukage by Dragon6,
really liked the setting of the story, but the more own characters he introduces into the plot, the plot gets less reasonable, since he is not developing these characters, merely throwing them in to support the plot (eew, am I making sense at all??)
I guess you've noticed already that I am not native to the english language and yet, I have to criticize Dragon's way of writing speeches. Well, it didn't bother me at all first, but after reading other great fictions I have troubles reading his,
because he always uses the same patterns:
"Hey watcha doin?" Guy1 asked.
"Nah, doing nothing " Guy2 answered.
"Okelidokeli" Guy1 said/another verb of speech.
Though, I do like the pace he takes to develop the NaruSaku relationship, he is not rushing it to the dismay of some.
Also appreciate all that diplomatic stuff, giving us insight to the life of a Kage, besides being the strongest and most acknowledged ninja in the village.
Too bad that Nes Mikel seems to be inactive.
Garden of Sanctuary is just one wicked sick oneshot srsly, Medusa Javelin is just as great and Empyreal Paradox left me speechless, messing with my thoughts. That one is crazy, but great, though it doesn't seem like he'll ever continue it :/
Stuff like "Densetsu no Sannin: Repetition" by Wilhelm Junker or "Trail of Freedom"/"Hands of Destiny" by Terra of Genesis (that guy definitly likes 3wordsNames) weren't that bad either as far as i can remember, though they may lack in some aspects and aren't up to par to Shivakashi or DigiFruit when it comes down to style/language. Not that it matters, since they are all on hiatus :/
Pheew, didn't intend to write as that much, but I'd guess you guys will need a picture of what I read, some information about what I like/dislike to lend me an hand (or two) :>
Note: Hope that no author is offended by what I wrote, they really shouldn't!. These are merely my thoughts about some fanfictions, I am not writing myself so I really appreciate all your work, the time you spend to display your ideas. You guys have my respect!
