#918486 Neon Genesis Evangelion

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 20 August 2016 - 01:23 PM

You know, I honestly can't remember much of this series. It's been so long -- I think I was fifteen when I first watched it. It's not my favorite anime of its kind, but I recall the experience as mostly enjoyable. I'm kind of curious how I might feel about it rewatching as an adult.

#918037 *The* Bleach Discussion Thread

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 18 August 2016 - 11:50 AM

I'm not in the Bleach fandom. I just heard it was ending and came to watch because I'm nosy. :lulz:

I thought Ichigo was asexual....

I meant more with his feelings, he really doesn't show that he in love with someone XD

That would be aromatic -- someone who does not experience romantic attraction. Whereas as asexual simply means a lack of sexual attraction and has nothing to do with romance.

And after putting in my irrelevant two cents, I'll be back to lurking now.

#913534 The Great Naruto Discussion Thread

It honestly surprises me that people here are still even talking about Naruto after all this time. I would think every possible topic regarding the series would be beaten to death by now.

#912560 On a scale of 1-10 rate the Anime you're currently watching

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 04 June 2016 - 11:16 PM

Yeah, whatever people say about this anime... When SOOOO many things go over your head, it's hard to care for the series.

Can a make a recommendation? Haibane Renmei is made by the same producer, but I think it's a much better story if you ask me. At least you get to care for the characters. The series revolves around the characters.

I've seen that one actually. Though it was a couple years ago and I could probably give it a re-watch.

#911707 Hi, is this Interview fake or real?

Very, very fake.

And I cringe at the description of Sasuke and Karin's relationship as "deep", sorry SK shippers. :sweatdrop:

#910345 New Boruto Manga?

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 07 May 2016 - 12:33 PM

Well it's neither surprising nor shocking. It just goes to show how empty the brains are of fans that still support this kitten. BTW I don't like objectifying women either, just throwing that out.

Surprising, no. But no less sickening. Honestly every time I hear the way some men (note: I know not all straight men think this way) talk about women as if their value is equal to how good their body is, it just makes me that much more grateful to be asexual.

There are many good seinen anime and manga around, don't forget that focus group for shounen is kid and preteen

There are also very intelligently written shounen that can easily hold their own against many seinen -- Fullmetal Alchemist, Hunter x Hunter, and Pandora Hearts come to mind. The target demographic really does not matter, it's the quality of the story itself that's important. Adults can be attracted to shounen series -- and shoujo! -- for the same reason many adults enjoy novels aimed at young adult audiences, because sometimes, they are better written than the novels targeted towards adult readers.

I'm not trying to say anything against seinen, by the way. Many series I enjoy, and several of my favorites, are in the seinen demographic.

#910261 New Boruto Manga?

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 06 May 2016 - 01:01 PM

From hwat someone posted from the "NH fandom" of the Naruto manga.

''Where did Hinata's boobs go ?''

''I thought Hinata had huge knockers.. Am I remembering that wrong ? Yeah, that's right. That's what I'm questioning about..''

''Liking the story so far, just one thing: what happened to Hinata's boobs ?''

''What happenned to HINATA'S kittens ?!!! Forget this kitten !! I'm out !''

''I don't want to bang Hinata anymore D:''

''They kittening ruined her design. But don't worry, I'll just erase this design in my mind and mentally force my eyes to see her movie design.''

''Because she's flatter than Sakura now she doesn't even look like Hinata.''

''WHAT HAPPENED TO HINATA'S BOOBS ? grumpy emoticon''

''Naruto probably doesn't want to bang her anymore. She's not the woman he married.''

''The worst thing in this chapter is the downsize of Hinata's boobs.''

''Why the kitten would Hinata's boobs get nerfed ? Tragic, man.''

''I would like to begin a petition to bring back Hinata's bewbs !''

''This assistant needs to be smitten for what he's done to my Hinata ! WHYYY !''

''Hinata's boobs just suddenly disappeared. What's the deal ?''

''Speaking of Hinata, boob vanish no jutsu ! I hope they fix that.''

''I loved it when it was loli Hinata. Loved it when it was oppai Hinata. And now love it when it's MILF Hinata. That's all I got out of this chapter.''

- some comments from Hinata fans about the first chapter of the Boruto manga"

These people are disgusting. Reading such misogynistic comments reducing a female to nothing more than a sex object makes me feel offended just on principle.

#909528 What are your favorite anime/manga?

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 30 April 2016 - 02:35 PM

I think I posted here a few years ago, but my tastes have changed somewhat since then so I guess I'm doing it again.

Fav manga:

Pandora Hearts -- Always number one for me. Truly a brilliant work that fully deserves to be called a masterpiece. Story, characters, plot, art; everything is virtually perfect.

Chrno Crusade -- Admittedly, it's not perfect, and I can't help feeling it really should have been longer to expand on some of its plot and backstory which have so much potential. But regardless of some shortcomings, I remain incredibly fond of the manga's lead characters who very much drive the story. And they're my tragic OTP.

Akatsuki no Yona -- Yona's character growth is just so well done and really carries the manga forward. Pretty much all the characters are likable, and the story has a balanced mix of action, politics, humor, and a progressively developing romance. (Hak/Yona ftw)

Deadman Wonderland -- God did this one put me through the emotional wringer. It has some really great characters and surprising, well thought out plot twists.

Kekkaishi -- This series was part of my early introduction to anime/manga, and I still hold the manga especially dear.

Fav anime:

Mushishi -- There's nothing I don't love with this series. It's visually breathtaking and the storytelling is masterful. Some may find it boring, but to me it's just relaxing.

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World -- Kino is, quite possibly, my favorite female lead in any series. She's tough and independent, and never made out to be overly sympathetic (I would hesitate to call her a heroine, because she's very morally neutral) nor is she portrayed as especially feminine -- which for me, being a female who is not particularly feminine, is very refreshing. Story-wise the series, both anime and light novels, is unflinching in its handling of very heavy and at times greatly disturbing topics. Definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Hunter x Hunter -- At one time I was actually hesitant to try this one, and now I can't imagine why. Both the 1999 and 2011 versions are excellent in my opinion and it's one of only a handful of series that I've felt so emotionally invested in.

Ergo Proxy -- This anime is seriously underrated, though I can understand why. It's not something for everyone and it's really weird at some parts. I had to watch it three times to actually 'get it' and it requires patience and the willingness to have your mind challenged. It's deeply psychological and the characters are all very interesting and well-rounded -- even if they are not always likable. The plot is brilliant once you get your head around it, and very multi-layered.

Natsume Yuujinchou -- It's really just a straight-forward, simple premise of a coming-of-age story centered on family and belonging about an orphaned boy who just so happens to have the ability to see spirits. The simplicity is part of it's charm however, because a story does not always have to be complex to be moving.

Special honorable mentions to Code Geass, Fullmetal Alchemist (first series and Brotherhood), and Steins;Gate.

#908890 Established Rivals with Proper Development

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 24 April 2016 - 07:26 PM

I may have never read hunter x hunter but i heard good stuff about the series and rival between gon and killua was well written. They weren't the typical rivals that has the hate and love thing going on from what i heard.

Actually, Gon and Killua aren't rivals at all. They have a very strong, well-written friendship that puts Naruto and Sasuke's to shame, however.

AkY got a sudden influx of chapter updates, up to 120: http://mymangaonline...ki-no-Yona.html

#907515 Hunter x Hunter

Posted by BakeNeko-Chan on 12 April 2016 - 03:08 PM

So, I listened to some clips for the upcoming dub, just out of curiosity. For the most part it sounds okay (this from someone who is generally not a fan of dubs) but oh my god Killua's voice is awful. :twitch:Way too high-pitched and girly.

Like I said, see what you and the mermaid have done to me.

Just giving you what you want. You don't have to thank me. :smug:

Too bad, I like it :hehehe:

I knew it. :chuckle:

#907189 Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu

Finally got around to catching up on this. Rakugo pretty much made this winter season of anime worthwhile for me, and I can't wait for the second season.

April 18th will be HxH's comeback, lol.

Only a month from now! I am so ready.

It should have been 1st to screw us all.

That would have been the meanest April Fool's joke.

Lower back pain is a kitten.
That doesn't look happy.

I currently can't use emojis to express my happiness properly.
