Hmm, a library book overdue for 31 years, and she paid $25.

Going by my local library charging .10 per day past the due date, she'd owe $1119.00, give or take depending on dates. Damn. O_o

Haha, only $25. My local library charges 20 cents for every book that is overdue each day. XD It's rather nice to see stuff like this happen; it's ordinary but it's still enough to make you chuckle. Seriously, 30 years! happy.gif

Damn, she's lucky... I think the libraries near me charged about 25 cents if the book is late.

A lot of libraries will charge a flat fee or the price of the book if the daily charges exceed either. Sometimes it's just easier to replace the book than try to collect on hundreds of dollars worth of late fees.

It was really cool that she returned the book.

*ADJUSTS LIBRARIAN GLASSES*

By then they usually revoke your library card.

Once it reaches a certain point Libraries just consider the book lost and will buy a new one or CHARGE you for the the purchase and processing of the new book. Which I can tell you IS MORE than $25. They have policies about these things, I know, I've written them. ;_;

Of course this is happened in the 70's so NO OPACs and library cards.

But I guess honesty helps a lot. XD

Totally emailing this article to my teacher She'll think it's hilarious when she talks about over due fines.

This month -- three decades, one career, five presidents, three relocations, seven grandchildren and thousands of books later -- McKee happened to open "The Patriot Chiefs," spotted the library card in the pocket and thought: "Drat."

Damn, I love the paragraph. to me whats amazing is not how long the book is overdue but how much love she have to reading and for some reason I respected her for that, not many people have her passion in reading and as a fellow reading fan, I have to take my hat off for her (No, mangas are not included... Heck they don't even count as a proper "book").

Haha! biggrin.gif Awesome! $25 for a book that was overdue for 31 years and 1 month! Again I say, awesome! laugh.gif

My mom would have scolded me senseless if I ever did that! arg.gif

I remember borrowing two books from a Kumon library. I think I never gave it back after I moved two times. Then, I lost the other one. I think it was the "Little Prince". Oops. err.gif

I hope my mom never finds out. a_thumbs.gif Shoot. happy.gif

As for the other one, I'll see if I can beat the 31-year-and-1-month record! Huzzah! I have a new goal in life! biggrin.gif
