I was just thinking today about Naruto being the Hokage today and started thinking about who would be helping run the village. I personally think Shikamaru and Neji would be the council and Sakura would probably be in charge of the hospital and medical departments. I don't no who would be a good choice for interrogation though.

If he's still living (I'm still praying) I say Kakashi, if he declines Hokage status which I can pictured, will be a great choice. Neji, Shino and/or Shikamaru are another great choices.

Interrogation, however, if Ibiki isn't around, I'll say Ino because of usage of the mind jutsus. (And this was based on this arc as her father is likely part of the interrogation squad.)

Hard to say. We've only seen the Third's Council talk down to everyone else, and throw around their weight without putting any real strength behind it. So it's rather hard to understand what, exactly, they're expected to do.

Judging what we've seen so far, though, I'd say Sakura and Neji would be the best choices. Neji has a great deal of respect for Naruto, but still puts him in his place when he does stupid stuff. And Sakura keeps him from killing himself, so she's a big plus. 'Cause a live Shadow is better than a dead one, yeah?

Shikamaru would be a good catch for something like a council. And Chouji would be... in charge of the food supplies? Either way, I'm pretty sure Naruto will give his friends some important jobs.

Shikamaru will be Narutos advisor for sure. Shino maybe as well. Neji will be like a Anbu captain. as for the others i guess Sakura will be the hospital chair person and Ino will be interrogations. I see Hinata being a council member despite it all. the others will be clan leaders and on the council.

Shikamaru and Sakura are obvious picks, they have already established themselves as indespensible to Godaime. The rest of the rookie nine will be special jounins at least. I can also picture Konohamaru as Naruto-sama's apprentice, like Shizune is/was to Tsunade, he's even recently inherited his own will of fire so he should always be close by to protect the villiage. Ibiki should be around too, he's the kind of guy that works until he dies because retirement is just too boring. Gai and Kakashi and all their peers will probably always retain their special jounin status, too.
Heck, everything is already set up for Naruto to take the stage, he just needs to go through some paper-work training laugh.gif and he needs to have experience with being a capable leader like Shikamaru went through during the Sasuke retrieval arc. That's probably the only reason he hasn't been promoted to chunin yet, but the way everyone seems to focus on protecting Naruto like a baby it's no wonder he hasn't been put in that situation. He may get to finally experience the responsibility of having to protect everyone in this Naruto vs. Pain sequence, and may reallly feel the weight of everyone's dependance upon him.
With Sakura he may have felt this way when she depended on him to bring back Sasuke, but hers was a selfish request, and he was compelled to protect her because of both his and her romantic feelings. I think in this newest situation he will want to act to protect the villiage with more of a paternal affection, similar to what the previous Hokages felt. Meaning, regardless of the feelings of the villiage (who have already acknowledged him anyway, unknown to him as of yet) he will protect the villiagers because of his own sense of duty (a.k.a the will of fire).

edit: sorry I went off on a rant with this, rawr.gif I'm going crazy waiting for the next chapter & need something to chat about! sweatdrop.gif

Naruto should dissolve the council and restructure Konoha's government from the ground up. Between Danzo, the council's utter stupidity, and the way certain clans (Hyuuga) can essentially run autonomous governments of their own, Konoha's government is screwed up.

However, I half-expect Kishimoto to just not touch the matter at all, and essentially leave the people in place who are currently in place, and if any of them get killed whoever replaces them will be, ah, essentially nameless characters.

You haven't experienced the full cofusion of modern gender relations until you've heard an angry group of women yelling, "We want tentacles!" at an all-night Hentai-fest.

To me, the concept of a ruling council in Konoha has always been unclear. Throughout the manga, I don't believe there has ever been a direct reference to a specific council in Konoha's government. At least I haven't seen one.

We know that the Sandaime's old teammates Koharu and Homura were his advisors - in fact, were refered to specifically as such. It would also seem that they have kept their role as advisors with Tsunade. However, when Koharu and Homura approached Jiraiya shortly after the Sandaime's death, it was pointed out that during a "Fire Country meeting" (Manga chapter 140, page 11) it was decided that Jiraiya should be Godaime. One would think that reference to Konoha's council would have been made in that instance should it actually exist. The anime subtitle translation that I've seen goes over that specific sequence as "an emergency meeting with Country of Fire's feudal lord".

Now there easily could have been an issue with translation and the "Fire Country meeting" may actually have been a Konoha Council meeting. The anime translation I refered to could also infer to a Konoha Council meeting with said feudal lord. But my question is - why is this so vague?

Another confusing point during the conversation between Jiraiya, Koharu, and Homura was this: the notion of having to select top people from the shinobi ranks in order to form an executive committee prior to starting the restoration of the village. If a village council were in place, why would this need to be done? I realize that one could argue that governing bodies have been known to appoint special committees to oversee unique situations and/or emergencies. However, the village had just suffered an attack claiming the lives of many including the village's leader, and due to the feudal nature of Fire Country and its neighboring countries, may come under further attack since Konoha's strength has been weakened. How wise would it be to have their top shinobi in committee during this military crisis if their was a(n) (im)perfectly functional council already in place to handle administration?

Ultimately, there are probably a number of ways to explain away my questions. In fact, I am not denying the existence of a council.
It just boils down to one thing for me - why doesn't Kishimoto just specifically refer to it as such? Of course if someone does point to a specific excerpt that makes it clear as day, then I will humbly stand corrected and appreciate that person for enlightening me happy.gif .

I've always thought of the Politics of the Narutoverse akin to a strong Constitutional Monarchy. Here, the "Monarch" position goes to both the respective Feudal Lord and the Kage/Top Jonin depending on the size of the hidden village. From what Pain has revealed to us in his little speech, a Hidden Village is essentially the epicenter of a country's military power, and thereby the protector of it's economy.

My guess is that Ninjas as synonymous with armed forces, although a lot fewer in comparison with the millions-strong some of our nations have. So a Kage (in this case) is in charge of everything ninja-related, while the Feudal Lord acts as a monarch and governs the country with the help of it's council. So, essentially, a large country has two capitals - the "Civilian" capital and the "Military" capital, which are the hidden villages.

Konoha's "Council" would be a team of advisors to the Hokage, (I think the system applies in other nations) and would consists of powerful voices on the "Military" part of politics, which would include heads of major clans of the hidden village, as well as their top shinobi and specialists.

Going by this framework, I'll come back to Naruto's generation when he is the Hokage. Now, an example of a "Specialist" council member would be Sakura, who I presume would be the head of Konoha's central hospital. As such, she's also the military health advisor. Again, as per my framework, I'd say she'd have a civilian counterpart who would be with the Feudal Lord, but both would have no interconnection. The extended council would also consist of the heads of Major Clans - they'd be like a military legislature, meeting only when the Kage calls a summons.

Lastly, there would be some individuals which the Hokage would appoint personally. His own advisors would likely include Shikamaru and Neji. I'm hoping that his ANBU captian is Sasuke.

Yeah, I always think a lot about things that haven't been explained. The Narutoverse is a real paradox...computers at one end and they don't even have bicycles. biggrin.gif

I say this. if naruto becomes hokage... shikamaru and neji would be his advisors. Chouji would be head of the food supplies ino would be head interogationer. Kiba hinata and shino would be chuunin examiners. sakura would be head medic ninja. IF (emphasis on IF ) sasuke comes back he'll be a anbu captain. kakashi if he lives i think will also return to his anbu position ( emphasis on if again okay he got struck in the head with a rusty nail thats worse than what happened to neji in part 1! ). Umm because i have a strong feeling that temari is going to come and stay in the leaf village she would also be a good advisor since she could keep naruto on a leash and shes pretty smart.

The general consensus seems to be if Naruto became Hokage Sakura and Shikamaru would be his advisors. I will add to that consensus lol.

I believe number 12 of Peter's "What I would do if I was an evil overlord" gives the answer.

Haha love.gif family guy

I think I read an interview where Kishi said the ninja villages are basically the military of their respective countries. They protect the country in exchange for a place to have their hidden villages and the feudal lords govern the people. So the hidden villages follow the laws of their country but also have a militaristic chain of command to follow instead of having to answer to the feudal lord.
Also each villiage seems to have its own way of doing things. Sand village actually has a council that meets and votes on descisions, reducing the hokage to basically nothing more than top security chief (hmm sounds familiar) whereas in Konoha everyone seems to follow the hokage as leader (except those dam "advisors" who probably only have authority still because of their appointment by Shodaime).

Honestly, i think it would end up being the same council as Tsunade.

However, If Naruto does have a choice, i'd say the following:
1. Tsunade: She was the last hokage and Naruto's mother figure.
2. Sakura: She's smart, strong, and he loves her.
3. Shikamaru: He's probobly the smartest person in the village and would make a good advisor/strategist.

Those are the people i would choose if i was Naruto and other then them, I don't know who else he would pick.

Get Chance and Luck!!~
