I predicting this franchise will end sometime next year with the decline in sales and scanlation. What I worry the most is when this Boruto contents is canceled how long this forum would last.

I imagine that several of us will still be around well after the fact.  We've done so for the last three years after Naruto's end and with the potential onslaught of interviews that will likely be forthcoming to justify/cover-up why Boruto was cancelled, we'll still have plenty to talk about.  Plus, there are other forums on this site that will still be active.

The bigger question is: What will Naruhina fans do with themselves after Boruto is gone?

Light and Shadow are the only static creations of this universe.

I imagine so, if only so they can maintain a dialogue because I'll bet that once Boruto is gone, their forums will die a silent death.

Yeah I can't wait for Boruto to die as its slow like you gues said other manga is coming out new ones which are learning from Naruto big kitten up and what not to do.

But I agree that NH fans will balme us they have always done so, and this is something that will never end, my only hope is that before Boruto is axed that Hinata dies and shows that Sakura was better than her, not sure how she dies but any death for Hinat would be good same with Naruto as well.

I think it'll go through quite many years to come, depending on the contracts that the publishers have inked with the authors/editors. Which is good, because I would prefer them to incur loss over prolonged time, while listening to the loud minority that this series is selling well. *evil laugh*

Jokes aside, all front of this series looks bleak though, be it in anime and/or manga. Words on the street says that the latest volume of Naruto Next Generation (Volume 4) first week sales is about 130k copies, down 50k from first week sales of Volume 3. I thought ~260k for Volume 3 sales was rock bottom... to think that it may sold lesser than that for the 3rd best selling manga in the history.

Let's not even discuss other media (anime, light novel). FYI, the recent light novel of Naruto sold about 6k. I recalled the first volume of light novel (Hiden series) was ~160k, although it's trending down with volume 4 sold at ~73k).

Whoever made the decision to go with NH/SS as the basis of the next generation really should get penalty. NH/SS folks didn't seem to bother to support this franchise financially...

"What? What are you saying?"

"It's okay, this is what I came here to do. I can save today, but you... you can save the world."

The decline has been going on three years by this point. I imagine the executives are getting at least annoyed hearing about problems Boruto is having. Yes, companies are normally very reluctant to end a contract before the time is up, but eventually when it cost them so much while giving them so little they will often rip it up. Since it clearly is not worth the time supporting it, and it just going to incur more cost if they continue wasting their time & resources. Boruto isn't at that point, yet. But if it sinks any lower it might.

The only form of media that the Naruto franchise might be doing well in is the video games. Since that's the only area where I haven't heard they are doing at best poorly in.

If it was an executive they are losing money, if it was the editors they have most likely move on to the next manga, SP are pretty much at this point putting all their hopes in Black Clover, and Kishimoto is where he is at right now.

From my limited understanding of the Japanese fanbase. I get the impression that most of the nH fans that were not otaku were very causal in their support. They thought it was a cute couple but ultimately wanted the characters to have a happy ending whether their pairing happened or not. When it instead turned out so negative; they have been slowly losing interest in the series over the past few years. As for the otaku, Hinata is a bland bog-standard archetypal moe girl. So if they get bored of her there are a thousand other girls in anime just like her, and a lot of them more interesting then her.

If we use the movies as an indicator of how well this franchise sells in parts of the world. Then currently it makes a majority of its money in Japan to the point that if you combine all the profits it makes overseas if doesn't even make a fifth of what it makes in Japan. The time when Naruto franchise was a big international seller is long over.
