Before anyone rants, this is NOT about NaruSaku despair... It's about H&E despair. This site has meant a lot to me and to others, but it is rapidly falling down on it's broken foundation.

Sooo many people have simply stopped visiting this site, whether gradually like most or suddenly, it took about 2 months after the ass-pull ending and failed continuation, but it's happening quickly. Many people still consider themselves NaruSaku/Naruto fans, but whether or not this is true, almost none of them are active or care as much as they once did, they're simply giving up on Naruto.

Many of you will object greatly, but first think about it, did you not go on this site for a while out of forgetfulness? Did you stop caring? Even if you don't fall into this category think about it? Do you care as much? If you do, remember many people don't care as much anymore. This isn't a recommendation or criticism, it's simply me pointing out the obvious (forgive me).

I'm not speaking from some high and mighty position, I haven't posted in almost 3 weeks.

Even the remainder of people on the site don't care as much and are talking about other things.

I am NOT saying shut down the site or something as stupid as that, but remember this.

You are only allowed to post in this thread if you have more than 3 friends and all of them are as active as previously.

(You have to click on this picture to understand, because if you think Naruto is still this, then you're seriously misguided)

I read what you said, but let me tell you, that is not so true. There are other things in life better than NS and Naruto. There are other mangas out there that have stories that make Naruto look as if it was written by a 10 year old

My point wasn't that Naruto is the best or most important thing, or even anime. It's that Heaven & Earth isn't as active as it used to be, or as energetic. Even though we stayed together for other reasons, the reason we came here, the foundation of the website is the NaruSaku fandom. Kishi took that away... subsequently a lot of people stopped caring... about Naruto, about NaruSaku and eventually this site.

it is true, and of course I gave up on naruto for me it was more than just a disappointment maybe you will not believe me but even after all this time I can not even look at a picture of naruto and company without causing me a bitter taste and a state of kitten. There are many more good things in life than naruto

Sadly things are like that. Some us will  stay here until simple we get bored. Kishi insult NS and still we will suffer they are going to take us everything for us. Kishimoto could do something for us even if NS was not canon but he didn't.

The true is that some us we are doing what we can, fanfics, AE, fanarts and more. This is the only thing we can do, because Naruto kick us. NS depend us not more for Kishi.

DID SOMEBODY SAY DESPAIR?

Lol, I'm sorry, I just watched way to much Danganronpa to not do this.
But yeah, nothing is the same anymore since that ending. I already moved on to better things, so this site isn't as apealing as it used to be. It's sad, but it's the truth :(

I'll be honest I've moved on from Naruto. I still like the story and I still ship NS and I still blog some NS and Shinachiku fanart on tumblr, but largely I've moved on. I'm into another ongoing manga now, and it's author seems to be better at character development and plot than Kishi appears to have ever been. (And I'm not even one of the Kishi critics. I like to think I give him credit where it's due.)

But I haven't moved on from this site. It's not as active as it used to be, and that makes me a little sad. We talked about more than Naruto and this forum has been fun. I don't intend to stop coming here unless it gets truly inactive.

A few threads are still very active.

Despair, you say?

2qdquq1.jpg

Sorry but I can't really tell what the point of all that is. H&E always goes through cycles of activity. The ending was obviously a big thing to talk about here, and now people are calming down from that. That happens anytime something big in Naruto has happened. Some people stay, some people leave, new people join, etc. etc.

Sounds like a premature announcement of the death of a fandom...that probably isn't anywhere near dying. Currently there just is a lack of material to talk about until the next Naruto projects begin.

I just come on here to rant and make fun of the sh*tpile this series has become. It's very therapeautic for NS fans.
However if you want more people on here you should advertise it; put links to NaruSaku.com through fanarts and fanfiction. Hosts more contests and direct people here. I'm too beatdown and beyond caring to actually do these things myself but these are some ideas for the more active alive NS fans.

I agree with you. But I don't blame people. I mean after the asspull he did and the future pierrot got for Naruto. I mean I liked NS, I do still ship them and I did make an ending about that. But the fact is that Naruto for me ended badly. I found some closure and I did start to move on. I did start to come not as much as I used too, not because I stop believing but because I start to move on. There is no part 3 for me and no way to repair the damage really. I mean I was at work yesterday, people were talking about Naruto part 1 and from what I gather, they don't know that filler aren't canon, so they see Naruto started to get close to Hinata durin the filler when he saw her dance. I didnt barge in, didn't do anything, but I did feel bad about it. They knew the ending , Naruto ending up with Hinata (tell that their daughter is ugly) but it felt normal and I begin to understand how far the damage was done.

When we read the story only, they're is nothing that point toward it, The anime is more watched than the manga I suppose, so in the end, they decide what was best for selling money. I felt that this is wrong, I hope that it comeback to hunt them but I can't do anything about it. I've read some fanfiction about the ending, god do people fix it or what. I mean how did the real mangacome up with such an awful ending.

I'm working on a spin-off story about my ending, though I'm still in thinking process, I'm gonna write it for sure. But yeah, I might not come here as often. I came here once a week (when the manga was running and 4 to 5 time a week when it got that ending) .

The sad reality is, a part of me did give up on Naruto. I mean the ending was sellout, the character spit on what their used to be. I stop playing any related Naruto video and card games. I was hurt and a part of me hate what the character has become. Even if I believe this ending is in an alternate universe or something, the story continue to follow this guy who become a douchebag. Same goes for Sakura. A part of me hate her as well, becoming Sasuke's puppy. But nothing compare to what I felt for Hinata, a character I never care about. The level of hatred I've got for her cannot be explain. Even if I know those are character and they aren't real, only the people behind it, I hate her now because it's the character that destroyed the whole thing. How a side character ( 3rd rate side character, she wasn't a Shikamaru or a Rock lee 1st part or Gaara) become a main character and destroyed the story. I blame Pierrot, I blame her, I blame Kishi and Hinata voice actress as well.

People were hurt, cheat of their patience and time by this ending and some of them were troll and we can almost said hunt down by stupid internet people. Yep, I understand your concern about the site but  I understand why some stop to come or tried to move on as well.

I agree with the fact that all sites, especially this one, go through cycles of inactivity, but personally I don't think that this and that are the same thing. I'm going to try and come on this site as much as I used to, and not just to check messages, but to post, be involved etc... but I honestly can't see many people doing that.

I get that this community has other things to talk about, whether related to Naruto or not but the underlying foundation, NaruSaku, has all but disappeared no matter how dodgy the asspull is. I'm not saying the fandom has, but the hope for it has.

This site and the people here, are too big a part of my life for me to give up as easily as this, and those of us that remain should remain, but if you look at recent posts, they're all by the same group of people and rarely with the same variety of posters that used to grace this site.

As a member who has been here since 2006, I can assure you that the ups and downs of traffic are quite normal here at Heaven and Earth.

The amount of traffic hasn't even slowed down all too much. If you look in some of the sections there are still threads that are updated on a regular basis. The Ichiraku Ramen Bar is also fairly active.

There's no doubt that things will slow down now that Naruto is over, it was bound to happen, but this is still a large community and people will continue to visit.

Heck, I have basically put Naruto behind me but I still visit every day.

I think the idea that Heaven and Earth is somehow crumbling now after more than 10 successful years is a bit of an over reaction.

Like many others, I have given up on Naruto after the ending. I just didn't feel it was worth holding on to when there are so much better stories and such out there that are a lot more satisfying. I was actually losing interest in Naruto a while before the ending, but I still kept coming here because I like the community and I still drop in often and post now and then. Though I haven't been online much at all recently, as in not online at all either here or elsewhere, for a few reasons. As of now, I have no intention to stop coming here, even if it's not as often.

I'll chime in with some of the other posts. The activity here goes in cycles.

The only time we had a wide variety of posters was when something wonderful or ludicrus happened in the manga. Otherwise it's been pretty quiet. If something outrageous happens again, or if Kishimoto sees the light, then a lot of the posters will be back to weigh in. That's simply how it works. The doors aren't closed for anyone.

But honestly, as far as posting goes, right now more posts are being generated here daily than during some weeks while the manga was still going on. Sometimes the chapter thread for a particular week would have only 16 or so pages. Especially if the chapter was a snoozer.

From yesterday morning until now, there were 30 NEW PAGES in the Last thread. 30! I know, cause I skimmed them all! (Whew!)

And that's not even counting posts on all the other threads.

There is still plenty more to discuss about Naruto, as there are plenty more developments to come. And don't think this is generated by our site or through fanfics, fanarts or contests. No, the media conglomerate that is driving Naruto is not going to let its audiences forget about the series, because they're in serious danger of loosing more fans if they do. In the downtime between the launch of the next series they're going to continue to post interviews, leak info about the series, and release teasers about new project: like the upcoming novels and the live-action musical (ugh).

There are plenty of people who are on here chatting about Naruto and a host of other topics. And there's plenty of reason that the site will keep going strong into the foreseeable future.

The site's staying open and there's still plenty to talk about. And if/when something crazy happens again, all people you miss seeing will pop back in. It's just the way it goes! (So try not to despair too much!  )

What I like to think about is that Heaven & Earth brings together a lot of us in the community because it gives us a place to belong, Tricksie, like you've been saying here for sure. :snuggle: And babe, you nailed it for sure with all sorts of stuff.

We shouldn't give into despair, even if Kishimoto-sensei continues to shoot himself in the foot and thus ruin his career, we can still remember Naruto for how it was before it got screwed over in the ending. The great story, the development, as well as add our own contributions here and there to the story itself and make new things that should have been done the first time around. Basically what Tricksie is trying to say, gang, is we shouldn't give up so easily, but remember the good we have, and the fact too, even if we lost, everyone lost with us, and many NH/SS fans are taking it out on us because we're remaining optimistic with our pairing since it was the right way to go, plus we got tons of other topics to go with. As long as we remain as a family, then we shall be invincible!! :D

Personally I have not posted in weeks because I went on vacation and I had no connection (and let me tell you, being away internet for a while feels great. When I have my computer available, the temptation of visiting a site is strong, and you inadvertently wasted dozens of hours scrolling down the same pages. With no internet I spent more time with my mother, went for walks, read books and manga, watched anime and played games that I had not tried before, and even made a little of gardening), so I could not lurk or post.

Anyway, I usually go through a cycle: I am wondering how my fandom is doing, check the site and write several posts. Then I start to get upset again and I need to take a break. I get myself distracted with other hobbies or series or other of my favorite ships (I have been reading AsukaxShinji fics of late). Then I wonder how H&E is doing and the the cycle starts anew.

And that is exactly what I did before the end of Naruto. That is exactly what I did when I was utterly convinced that N/S was canon.

I left for weeks or even months and then I returned all of sudden.

Other people has already said this, but activity in this site goes in cycles. We are going through a slow -and hard- time, that is all.

Naruto fandom will eventually die, of course, and only a bunch of old-timers and younger fans will be left talking about the same stuff in some few boards and posting infrequently (and most of their posts will be character-bashing). However I have seen dead fandoms (check fandoms of manga/anime series that were wildly popular back in the nineties: Ranma, Evangelion, Tenchi Muyo...), and believe me, this fandom is NOWHERE near from that state yet.

Meanwhile I still am active, even If I am more active in the Otaku section. I still have new things to talk about. For example, every so often I will start a thread about other manga series, hoping that maybe some people will find something new to like.

honestly... why should I stop posting if I dont force three of my friends to come to this site?

When I read the opening post I initially thought that he meant "posting in this thread". After reading it a second time, I got it.

I am sorry, Ace, but that rule makes no sense and try to enforce it WOULD actually kill the site. Not every member has three friends interested in Naruto. And even if that person has three friends that are Naruto fans, they may not be interested in online boards. And even if they are willing to become members, they may refuse post if they are forced to post regularly -instead of whevener they want- and bring more friends that must become regular posters, TOO.

I have only a friend that is a Naruto fan (and he is favorable to NS). He has a terrible opinion of Naruto boards and has absolutely no interest in them. And I can assure you that if you tell him that he HAS to post regularly he will refuse becoming a member.

Moreover, I guess that many members of this board would stop coming altogether if they were said that they are forced to post constantly and bring more members that will do so as well. Sometimes people does not feel like visiting the board or writing or wanting to contribute to a discussion. If you force them they may stop coming in disgust. You have to give them a degree of freedom in order to make the site appealing.

There are ways to try to enliven a forum, but your proposal is not one of them.

Just be patient. Sooner or later activity will go up.
