[RESOLVED] Firefox 3 Issues

*clears throat* Anyway, does anyone know why it's like this? I've noticed that it hates it when I visit forums for some strange reason but surprisingly leaves H&E alone (Yay!)
Also, on my laptop... THAT one (also firefox 3) decides that it absolutely hates to play youtube vids. And crashes. Again.
So for the time being, I'm using Opera, but I'd really like to use firefox again. DX Help Please.

This is probably the reason why I have multiple browsers XD I've got Safari, Flock, IE and Firefox, so if one stuffs up I can alternate.

If you would prefer to roll back to Firefox 2, I might have found something.

I think old versions of Firefox will try to force you to upgrade to 3, but you can disable updates by going to Tools > Options > Advanced tab > Update tab, and unchecking "Automatically check for updates to Firefox". Just install it while you're offline and disable the updates, then you should be fine.

One thing to remember - if you decide to go back to FF2, don't forget to export your bookmarks first!
EDIT: If you keep getting crashes at the same websites, can you post the links so FF3 users like me can check them out? That way, I can see if it affects mine as well.

I used to have the same problem. I couldn't go half an hour sometimes without a freeze and then crash of Firefox, and I was getting incredibly frustrated. To the point where I was considering even getting Google Chrome >.>
But then I got my new laptop, and Firefox has not crashed even once. It runs smoothly and perfectly. And when I use the computers at my job, Firefox also works perfectly well. It seemed that it was only on my extremely slow, and old laptop that Firefox kept on freezing and crashing

After looking at PB's suggestion thread, I couldn't bare to go through all that work just to make firefox 3 work when I was much happier with firefox 2. So in the end, I reinstalled firefox 2 so it's completely fresh with no plug-ins or anything. Perhaps I'll switch back to version 3 later, but for now... I'd prefer version 2.
As for the websites that I visited that caused firefox to crash... it's strange... it crashes sometimes when I go check it out and other times it leaves it alone. So I can't say for sure it's definitely the website. Maybe it's a plug-in I had or something... anyways... the links are AsianFanatics, Tudou and Overstream.

Sakura-jie... you sure are lucky! I seriously think it was a plug-in I had or something that affected firefox 3 negatively compared to firefox 2, so beware of which plug-ins you decide on!

Yes, keep your add-ons light! Also make sure you only use add-ons that are said to run very well. I only use Adblock, Download Statusbar/Embedded, Web Developer, Colorzilla and the spellchecker.
Since you've decided to go back to FF2, I guess I'll close the topic.
