Okay I recently had something of a revalation...I cannot complete long stories that I start. Yeah...I finally figured it out, after awhile I just can't finish them for some reason and its compleatly beyond me as to why. I know some of you are familiar with the 2 I started and posted some in the Library (Both remain unfinished...)

I even started another Alternate Universe Naru/Saku fic, I had set it so that Team 7 were firefighters instead of Ninja. Thought maybe that if it was a little different and away from the mainstream I would be able to finish it (Havn't finished it...it remains half completed and I never have the motivation to finish it) So realizing my problem was that I couldnt finish long stories...I thought I would try a relativly short One-shot, see how far I can get. Well so far nowhere...cause allready I hit a snag.

I need a bit on info that I cannot find anywhere so I came here for help. Does anyone out there know exactly how old Konoha itself is. Without this info this oneshot I have been meaning to write wont make alot of sense. I am sure I could make a pretty good guess as to how old it might be...but I want to try and be as accurate as I can be. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Sorry, M1abrams but I don't remember ever coming across that particular info in the manga myself. I could hazard somewhere between 100-200 years if you count it by around the life-time of each Hokage (inconjunction with Kazekage), but the Hidden villages could've been around long before the Kage system was even implemented.

Edit: Oh and I know what you mean about being unable to finish fics. My problem stems from being unable to pick one and stick with it. (While getting plagued by more ideas...)

Thanks Vesper...if that is the case than I can just wing it. I can make a pretty good guess of how old it is, and I will just round it to an importand sounding number...250 sounds good You should see this one-shot soon, I started it last night and got a good chunk done so. I will post it soon, till then.

I believe it's 200 years ago. They talk about it, but I can't remember for the life of me what episode/chapter it's in.

It seems more likely to be 100 years cuz they said Konoha was founded by the first and second hokages.

Let's see.

We have the first generation, of whom the only members of we've seen are the First and Second Hokages.

The First founds the village, and has to rule for some time. At some point during this, he selects the young Sarutobi to be his successor, as shown in a flashback scene. At some point before Sarutobi is ready to take over the First most likely dies and his brother becomes the Second.

If I'm remembering the flashback scene correctly, it looks like the Leaf Village is fairly well established at that point - likely at least a couple years older than the ~10 year old Sarutobi. The remainder of the First and Second's reigns must last at least ten years, because we see a Sarutobi in his twenties training the Sannin as their jounin teacher, and he's almost certainly not the Hokage at that point. At some point after that (at least say five years, to give the Sannin time to be trained), Sarutobi becomes the Third Hokage, and rules for several decades.

The Third's reign is long enough for the next generation (the Sannin's) to finish growing up, fight wars, have children (The Fourth's generation), and have the oldest of those children grow up and have children of their own (Kakashi's generation). Let's just throw out 30 years as a minimum, 50 as a maximum.

At this point, it makes more sense to work backwards. Twelve years before the series starts, the Kyuubi attacks and the Fourth dies. The Fourth becomes Hokage a year or two at the most before that.

So, 10-13 + 10 + 5-10 +30-50 + 1-2 + 12 = 67-97 years before the series starts. Very rough, but reasonable, I think.

So I'd say that you could make a claim for anything from ~70 years to ~100 years before the series starts for the founding of the Leaf Village, and not cause any problems. Outside that range things get trickier.



Hmm... let me check something...

The cover of manga Chapter 303, featuring the First Hokage, implies that around 50 years have passed since the First died, which more or less works with what I worked out above, I think.

So that should just about cover you, I think.

i agree with aaron here because an easy estimate can tell. sarutobi was alive (a child, then,) when it was founded, as he was trained by the first and second hokages. so how old he is now (plus three years, cuz that's how long he's been dead for) minus how old he was then, would give us konoha's age.

k=s + 3 - s's age when he was a kid back then

and there you go!!!
