The boy wasn't in the compartment when it landed.

Oh my! What happened to the boy? Did he just fall off, or did he never climb on the balloon to start with?

They're not sure. The father says he thinks he saw him climb in, but they've searched the ground too and he hasn't been found in his neighbor hood. :/

From what I gathered from MSNBC and CNN, the father is a storm chaser so the balloon itself is likely to be aimed for weather observations with the bottom area being a good place to place instrumentation and collecting data.

I've heard various reports on where the boy is, including reports that the door to that little "cabin" was unlocked.

I just heard on the radio, they found the kid hiding in a box in the garage. It said he untied the balloon, then got scared and hid in the garage.

Looks like a publicity stunt. Watch them get a show on TLC called "Kiddie Storm Chasers"

Glad the boy is safe.

I heard about this earlier on CNN. I'm not sure if it was a publicity stunt or the kids had a stunt to themselves that got out of hand. I know a little about aviation and judging by the size of the helium filled object was suppose to act similar to a weather balloon from my understanding, since it had a a card board bottom that was suppose to house a recording device in it. The overall size of the balloon itself was no where near the larrgge enough size it would actually take to lift a man or yet alone a child.

Let's just say it was a stunt. His older brothers, ages 7 and 8 respectfully, told the parents that the boy was on the balloon. But when they caught the balloon, he wasn't in there as he was hiding back home in their garage. I call it a prank and I bet those kids' parents are very pissed because they went on a wild goose chase with the balloon.

I saw previews about that on 'next on the news' commercials, but it was family time so we were watching CSI, Mentalist, and other shows that were on tonight instead.

They named him FALCON.

FALCONNNNNNNNNNNNNN.

Ironic isn't it? Can't you see it?

I do. And I'm not laughing. Not one bit. I would have named him Sparrow. Or Mockingbird for extra lulz.

Hey, those were the parents form Wife Swap!

I can't believe they would make up such a stupid lie so they can be on television. :/ I guess that explains why they wanted to be in Wife Swap....

^

Eighty-one percent of 18- to 25-year-olds surveyed in a Pew Research Center poll released on January 9th, 2007 said getting rich is their generation's most important or second-most-important life goal; 51 percent said the same about being famous.

So I hear the kid was just hiding in the garage the entire time.

Wow I guess people will do anything for attention these days.
