I have to disagree with Hinata part.
I don't think it just a hero worshipping.she truly love naruto even back then.
We know why Hinata love naruto back from chunin exam.
Hinata love naruto even from her academy day as shown in the chunin exam flashback.

I think she looked up to him, making it sort of like a crush. Wouldn't say love though, since they were young, and wouldn't exactly know what that means..

But It still love or any form of it.
It's like sakura, ino, and Karin love to sasuke and naruto love to sakura.
Oh and rock lee too.

I think there's definitely a difference between being in love and having a crush.. Naruto's crush on Sakura appears to be the closest to love, compared to the others. I'd like to put Hinata's crush above Sakura's on Sasuke's but I think they're on the same page. Their crushes are ignorant and immature.

I'd argue that Naruto's love for Sakura was the only genuine expression of romance in the series. He'll do anything for her, he reads the situations and social cues well, and he's the only person who puts the one he loves before himself. I used to not care for NH but that was not even love, that was a shotgun marriage. It was like someone just flipped a switch and all of a sudden she got super RTN aggressive. Meanwhile, Naruto's feelings for her look cheap bc of 631 and more importantly he forgot his bento box. It really seems to me like he just settled and said, "If Sakura really cannot get over this guy (and I cannot have him either) than I'll take the butterface."

 

And Calling Sakura and Sasuke's relationship love is just plain stupidity. Sure she had a crush on him that was clear, but their entire relationship is born of pity based on his past. First of all that's not love, that's an emotional high. She never even knew the real Sasuke. What he liked to do, what his favorite things were. Heck, she never even found out the real truth about his past from him, she had to look it up in a file. And on Sasuke's side he rejected her again and again and again. I don't even think he EVER knew anything about her besides her name. Actually, he NEVER knew anything personal about her besides her name. After every mission he left to go mope in a corner. 

 

Just thank god Minato Kushina was left untouched (minus the whole red herring fiasco.) Yeah sure its the typical boy saves girl, girl falls in love with boy, boy compliments the part of herself that she hates but it was done well at least.

Ugh, that scene has a ton of problems with it. What's the point of having her make that speech when she just gets pasted into the ground in the very next page???

Twin lion fist is fan service who does nothing in manga.
We only know the effect from data book. Kishi seem have no idea what to do with that.

At least, Naruto admitted that he didn't fully understand why he liked Sakura, until he got to interact with her a bit more and learn her feelings, which were a watered down version of his, when it came to wanting acknowledgement. From there on, their interactions, while on T7 only served to water his blossoming feelings for her and vice versa.

I will say that Hinata had a good reason to like Naruto, given that he had a strength she didn't, but realistically, she only talked to him a few short times over YEARS of meeting each other. So, her confessing she loves him, without even believing in him or caring about his dream, or knowing the hardships he went through, which shaped him, makes her feelings feel just as shallow as Sakura's.

I agree with you. I think he mistaking crushes for love.

But...mistaking love for crushes? How old is Kishimoto anyway? He can blabber on about the philosophies of the world and war and kitten and kitten but doesn't know the difference between crush and love? I don't get it! Even he himself had a love marriage! So does this mean that his 'crush' over his wife was his 'love' towards her and they simply got married because of that crush? Seems legit that his 'crush' never transformed into 'love' for him to know it! No wonder why he mistook crush for love

Not to mention her petty puppy dog love! Selfish to the core! She didn't even think for once what Naruto felt towards her or whom he really loved! Hoping that one day he'd love her back is one thing and forcing her on Naruto is another! If she really loved Naruto, she'd have let go off Naruto and if possible, helped Sakura with her feelings. I don't expect the latter from her since she technically can't educate Sakura on feelings when she(Hinata) herself isn't aware of where exactly her feelings lie! She did NOTHING for Naruto. Even the life she was ready to sacrifice was a waste! It seemed as if she entered there to confess and then die! Quite honestly, it was not impossible for other Rookie 11 to jump in and help Naruto then! She knew she cannot defeat Pain but still? I mean she knew she would die and wouldn't be able to protect Naruto no matter what she did inturn failing in her purpose! So basically, she just went in there to confess! Pity....

it is a technique only taught to the main family of the hyuga, so neji might not know it.. then again, he learnt the spinny jutsu at age 12.. anything is possible i guess.

 

if used correctly, the lion fists clamp down on it's opponent and suck their chakra away iirc

Yes. It's all about validation. Compare that with Naruto's feelings for Sakura (you know, the ones that only exist because of some rivalry). He's constantly working towards things that will help and support her rather than focusing solely on what he wants and what will validate him. It's a huge contrast.

Here's what I think.  For anyone is trying to comprehend why the female staff and Mrs. Kishimoto along several other mangaka (not from comic con)  saw NS and wanted NS as the endgame pairing is not because of fan service. The narrative was built and designed specifically for Sakura to reconcile Naruto's feelings and how it developed throughout the original manga. In other words, Sakura was meant to move on from Sasuke and become a very powerful kunoichi and one of the most prominent, badass heroine in SJ history.
 
Just take the historical samurai manga Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue for an example. The characters Takezo, Otsu and Matahachi were close childhood friends and you can compare them with Naruto Sakura and Sasuke.  The heroine Otsu behaved the same way  as Sakura when it came between her ex-fiance Matahachi and Takezo. Takezo has nearly the same background as Naruto (although Takezo personality fits more to Sasuke's profile). Her feelings toward Matahachi is the exact same as Sakura's toward Sasuke. Both superficial, which makes their proclaimed "love" were  very contrive. 
 
The relationship between Otsu and Takezo is the same with Sakura and Naruto. And how the opposing fans that saw it as them being like only siblings is correct. That's how the relationship between Takezo/Otsu and Naruto/Sakura began like. However, Otsu and Sakura showed that they were capable of moving on from their first love. Otsu; being devastated that Matahachi sent her a letter that he was cheating on her and he was with another woman with no plan to returning back to the village. Sakura; Sasuke treated her like crap, nearly killed her three times. You have one guy the likes to fornicate and cheated while you have another guy that does not give a crap (about Sakura) and would rather be more than enough for any woman to move on.
 
This was no problem for Otsu on a whim. Inoue gave explanation within the manga that she only liked/loved her ex-fiance because he was the only one to befriend Takezo in the village. Takezo was shunned by the local villagers as a devil child due to his wild and violent nature. 
 
Unfortunately, Kishi failed to explain to us why she loves (to me, I call it crazy obsession) Sasuke, so we have no idea how it happened. Now anyone one that still have their shipping glasses on, I suggest you take them off because here is where the magic begins that makes both these female heroines so alike. 
 
​While Otsu was very infatuated with Matahachi, she was unaware that she harbored feelings for Takezo because of her arrange marriage with her ex-fiance. She started realizing it after her engagement was broken off and Takezo was branded a criminal. And thus she was forced to leave the village too, because of her disengagement with Matahachi. 
 
 As you can see that collage is a young Sakura was warming up to Naruto, also completely unaware of her feelings because she's too obsessed and besotted of Sasuke. Although the panel was not included in the collage, the start of part 2 with the reunion between Naruto and Sakura part when she was blushing after asking Naruto the question that "is she more woman like". This was the anchor point that shows the audience that Sakura was starting to understand her feelings for Naruto and "rapidly" moving on from Sasuke.
 
Back to Otsu, much later in the manga. She reunites with her two childhood friends and encounters Matahachi for the first time in the vagabond manga, while nursing Takezo (unconscious) from his victorious battle over 70 men that he cut down all by himself. Matahachi tries to apologize to her, but her heart won't open up to him as her gaze was set upon Takezo's prone body. This completes the cycle of having Otsu moving on from her first love that was nothing but a silly crush. Thus completes the comparison between these two characters.
 
Back to Sakura, as I explain that Otsu ability to move on was straightforward. Unfortunately, this was not the case for Sakura when Sasuke was first introduced or mentioned by Sakura in Part 2. Unlike the straightforward direction Inoue went with Otsu, Kishi and his first assistant Yahagi decided to make more dramatic by dragging Sakura infatuation further, making it more challenging for Sakura to move on from Sasuke. Stalling of Sakura from moving on and reconciling Naruto's feelings will forever change the course of this franchise. This allowed NH/SS to be popular and the creators to be fascinated by Hinata's cute and shy demeanor (mainly her oppai) to catapult the two pairing fandoms over NS as they believe that Sakura does not love Naruto because she's incapable of moving on and only sees her as Naruto's friend. This eventually leads to the fans, editors and the creators' hating Sakura, entering the Pain Arc.
 
Furthermore, Kishi started taking interest in Sasuke and his clan, which also played a factor in the derailment of NS's road to canon. With all the bewilderment and feud, this spark perhaps the worse shipping wars, mankind has ever seen over the internet that will always be remembered for many years to come. With the focus on Sasuke, Sakura was not able to be developed and made a huge impact in the manga as what it should be as her role as a heroine. The most powerful female character that take kitten from no one including Sasuke and to be feared by Akatsuki.
 
As the story continues, NS still does get developments. However, Sakura's character got worse each time she failed to move on from Sasuke. This would lead up to her tragic character assassination chapter 693, stripped of her dignity and heroine title (before TL) to be given to Hinata and robbed of her Legendary Hero Shinobi status, which her teammates teammates received, according to the Shikamaru Hidden light novel. And she became a doormat and a sex toy for Sasuke to use whenever it pleases himself. Thus again completes her character assassination, which could be one of the worse for any heroine every written on paper.
 
Now Kishi comes out of the closets and unveils to the world what type of author he really is. It was known that Sakura's strip of heroine status was due to the popularity and hatred, the SJ editors urged Kishi to make a heroine switch back in the 2010 Jump Festa press con. Just a day before TL premiered in Japan. Kishi made a confession, stating that he was misleading NS fans for 15 and used Minato's GF comment to his son a red herring. 
 
The bombshells Kishi dropped are at the comic con was Kishi stupidly revealed to the world that his wife was vehemently upset with him for not going with NS and Kishi became a fan of a western NH youtuber fan of his (the fan of his own fan lol) known as Swayer7image. The controversial ending points in the direction of fan tampering and popular over the main narrative. 
 
The bottom line is that  Kishi and Yahagi would have been straightforward from the first time, which was the Heaven and Earth bridge after Naruto's fight with Oro and made Sakura be clear about her feelings towards (chatting with Yamato) Naruto before he woke up, or if the story was never tampered with to have Sakura regressed back into her part one self and Naruto becoming known in Japan as the world's worse scumbag and a bad protagonist; we would have had a non romantic shojou, pairing fest that disgraces all shonen manga to begin with. If almost everyone never gave Hinata the royal treatment and try to force her way in the place of Sakura for many years. Non of the character would not be character assassinated and become OOC.
 
 In the end, you have almost 700 pages equivalent to three volumes of NS interaction and development went down the drain.
