the story line was incredibly lame and predictable. What is with these animators making Naruto keep helping people get their revenge? He's supposed to be AGAINST revenge! Next episode looks incredibly like One Piece.

I do admit though, as a Naruto fangirl, I found his fear of ghosts pretty adorable.

Once again, it was okay.

The story was pretty weak and the premise was pretty much just lifted from "The Young Man and the sea".

It did, however, have it good sides. The beginning was cool with Yamato telling that ghost story and the atmosphere with the haunted ship and the fog was nice.

Also the fight with the giant enemy crab was pretty cool.

Im actually pretty intrigued about next week, mostly because it seems like its gonna have pirates in it and pirates are awesome.

Watched it. Didn't care for it. Naruto is out of character, as usual for the anime, and the plotline was weak. It was obvious 30 seconds in that the kid was a ghost.

Also, revenge? Again? The anime crew don't read the manga, do they? Because wow, talk about missing the entire point of the series so far. Also, you can't get revenge on an animal, because it's an animal. Have they learned nothing from Captain Ahab?

I think we need to clarify one thing about revenge in Naruto.

Revenge itself is not the problem in the story. The actual problem as exemplified by Sasukes fall into darkness is letting revenge consume you. Naruto sought revenge against Jiraiyas killer, and against what he percieved to be Sasukes killer in part 1 (haku). Shikamaru sought revenge against Hidan.

The key is that none of them lost themselves to revenge they didnt let the motivation overwhelm them to the point of Ahab and losing everything precious in its pursuit. Naruto forgave Pein, stopped himself from Killing Haku, and Shikamaru did everything possible to protect Ino and Choji and Kakashi from Hidan to avoid them being hurt.

In Sasukes case though he failed to heed Kakashis warning, that losing yourself to revenge would lead to darkness and emptiness. Thus when he gained revenge against Itachi he found himself empty and madara was able to give him anew target, and once Danzonw as gone that target shifted again to the village and its people.

Simply put wanting revenge against someone who wronged you in a story liek this is a common movtivation. the character must make a chocie though in pursuit as to whether they give up everything --family, friends, love etc-- and lose themselves entriely, or whether they choose not to cross the line and take a justified revenge but not at the cost of anyone save themselves.
