For a band that's been around for over three decades, Maiden's never let themselves get stale. Their latest album is definitely among their best of their thirty year career. S***, they still run circles around modern metal bands.
The same goes for Judas Priest, as well.

If we step outside the metal genre, you can add Rush to the list of bands I adore.
You know what, screw it. List time. The following bands are totally awesome.
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Rush
Megadeth
Mastodon
Lamb of God
Austrian Death Machine
Ugly Kid Joe
Circle Jerks
Metallica (early stuff; they sucked after the Black Album and while Death Magnetic is a step up, they're not great again yet)
AC/DC (up to a couple albums after Back in Black; it feels like they've started really winding down as a band)
Alice Cooper
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Slayer
White Zombie
The Ramones
Alice in Chains
That's all I can remember for now.
I can agree with the "not lately" bit. I really liked their debut album but since then the quality dove off a cliff. To me anyways.
A lot of those are more Death Metal than standard metal.

I know I just didn't feel like specifying. In hindsight I should have just put extreme metal since Misery Index is a little more Grindcore nowadays.
Hieroglyphics
Dilated Peoples
Blackstar (Mos Def and Talib Kweli need to make a new album!)
Bone Thugs N Harmony
Jurassic 5
Hmm... I probably have more, but I can't remember.
*Highfive*

The Beatles (The game needs more DLC)
The game really does capture the magic of their songs, doesn't it. I don't have a game console (not really my thing) but I'm getting one just so I can see the videos for each song on my TV with decent speakers. The only other game that tempted me to get a game console before was Final Fantasy X-2 (a game that was actually focused around three women and has a romance in it too- with the possibility of a happy ending) The Beatles game though has made me sure I'm getting one, and I'm going for a Playstation so I can get Final Fantasy X-2 as well, and probably the Naruto Shippuden games too, heh.

The game is awesome. But, as I said before, it needs more DLC. I really hope that they release more songs, but being the last DLC was released January this year... it's unlikely.

I'm pretty sure what he meant was the complete lack of punctuation in your post. Adding a couple of commas to your list would make it easier to read, and capital letters are pretty nice to.
As for me, I'm constantly changing my favorite bands. I'll list some I would say are pretty much constant though.
Aerosmith
Kansas
Blue Oyster Club
Foreigner
Lifehouse
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Motörhead
Rush
Yoga Fire
ZZ Top
Kaizers Orchestra
TNT
Steppenwolf
Sweet
I'm sure there are more, but I tend to find some songs I like more from every band.
