  • Interests:My interests? Well, I do enjoy most manga and anime, but I think that's a given. I also enjoy comic books and videogames, so I guess I'm kinda geeky there. But hey, I do other stuff. I like to go out and party, but I do not like drinks served in a femvase (damn fruity stuff... ew), so good ol' beer is my mate. So yeah, I'm also a psychology student, so your mind interests me.

I honestly couldn't stand the way they ended her character in Smallville, and I haven't really liked her character since the very early days of Smallville. I've seen her in a couple of other movies, and I guess she's a decent enough actress, but far from Oscar material imo.

I'm still having trouble accepting that this movie won't have my fav characters (Ryu and Ken) in it, so I'm still a little bit peeved about that. I would have enjoyed an origins movie of Ryu and Ken's alot more than Chun-Li tbh, but I guess I'll have to wait. Chun-Li is a cool character, but I don't like to mix Kristin Kreuk in that mix since she'll always be Lana (-of fail) to me now after almost 8 years of Smallville. She's not much of a martial artist either, so I'm not expecting much. I am hoping for a Street Fighter-movie franchise though, since there are a couple of characters that could make good movie-material.

However, I can admit that she doesn't hurt my eyes. wink.gif

*Nods vigorously* The first Mortal Kombat movie to me is still very much a classic, and shows how good one of these fighting genre adaptation movies can be :3

The second Mortal Kombat movie...not so much >.>

Agreed. The first Mortal Kombat movie was the one that originally made me feel that video game films could be done; which at the time was kind of a pipe dream. I'm kind of missed it's never gotten a decent DVD release though. All it got was a barebones release from about eight years ago.

I try to forget the second Mortal Kombat even exists. It saves me inner turmoil. =3

As much of MK series are a flop now at days, the first MK movie was a hit and followed many points (Christopher Lambert as Rayden; adding Kitana to the story who was suppose to appear in MKII and working for Shao Kahn as one of his menions but -imo- her popularity led her to be included in the movie; following true to the original storyline of the game, etc.) There is a DVD release, though it was packed with Annihilation.

As for the second movie, it will have been better if Bridgette Wilson and Lambert returned to replay their roles as Sonya and Rayden and rewrite the movie following II and 3 respective. (C'mon, adding Jade as an spy and evil character... WTF?!)

Much as I like Christopher Lambert (there can be only one!) I don't think even he could have saved Annihilation. The whole movie was a complete mess from start to finish. Half the new characters that did show up had absolutely nothing to do and half of them were dispatched within minutes. The entire film would need to have been rewritten and the original cast of the first film brought back for even a hope of it to have been good. There just simply were not any real positive points to it.

Last Mortal Kombat I liked was Deception (Though I haven't played MK vs DC despite really wanting to). Deadly Alliance was just too damn slow and Armageddon screwed over the fatalities and endings. Midway's suffered appropriately for them though; see their current filing for bankruptcy.

Which is kind of sad. Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe sounds fun (I'm a sucker for comics) and a sequel could show promise for even more DC heroes. Though the first one should have had Lobo. I mean, how can you have a hyperviolent fighting game with DC characters and not include Lobo? He's the Main Man!

I know. It was also sold seperately though. And completely barebones. Which I mentioned.

This is going to suck. When will people learn that most movies based on video games are terrible. Now there are a few exceptions, like FFVII AC but that's only one good example. Just like The Dead Or Alive movie this will be just as bad if not worse.

No. FFVII AC is different. It's computer-animated and a "What if..." sequel to a videogame. If people basically follow a good plot and understand the characters that are exactly alike to the original, then it can work (not just say, "Oh such and such will work with the bad guy to make the story more interesting"). Street Fighter II (the anime movie NOT the 1st live action with Jean-Claude Van Damne) was the best animated movie and it followed the storyline perfectly..., well almost because of Cammy being brainwashed for Shadowloo after the Ryu vs. Sagat fight in the beginning. But other than that, the characters were intact and act like the same as the videogame personalities. Hell, even Street Fighter Alpha movie also did a good job on that part, except for some particular issues.

Other animated movies like Tekken, Fatal Fury, hell even Sonic the Hedgehog (yes Sonic had a movie though in US terms) were bad.

Uhh... no, it's not a what-if sequel. It is actually a canon continuation Derock. There are a few iffy unexplained things in it, like some returns of characters, but it was indeed intended as a continuation.

Chun-Li is a concert pianist. Not Interpol. Instead of kicking criminals where it hurts, she tinkles the ivories.

Chun-Li's father is kidnapped by Bison, who then locks him in a cell... and lets him e-mail people.

Haha. Oh boy. A pianist? The character desecration is even worse than usual. Though I'm not surprised.

The most fun I suspect will be gleaned from this film is watching it to see if it's as bad as the Jean Claude original.

This movie makes IGN cry:

http://movies.ign.co...7/957633p1.html

Normally I don't take IGN's opinion for spit, but any movie that drives a man to wish he were watching the '94 abomination... yeah, that's bad man.

Lol, I liked this line XD

There's better staged and more enjoyable brawls between Peter and the Chicken on Family Guy

And this pretty much sums up my feelings on this movie:

QUOTE
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li probably deserves some credit for striving to make things more realistic, but they swung too far in that direction. It may not be as gaudy or goofy as its predecessor, but it's far more boring and banal. It's a videogame adaptation that loses sight of what made the game popular to begin with: it was fun.

IGN compares the two Street Fighters... and the '94 original is deemed superior.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Oh man. How could you let this happen Capcom? Seriously, one bad Street Fighter was enough! Adding insult to injury, the films been a box office bomb so far. I'll be surprised if it even makes it's budget back! XD

Although it's hard for me to see it after this flop.
