Now here's the thing, I don't want to anger anyone, or insult anyone, or your beliefs, or anything that would cause you any displeasure.

If somehow I do by what I'm writing here, then I sincerely apologize. And rather than replying to this thread and becoming more angry, I say ignore it entirely, don't respond at all. Once again I don't want to anger anyone, I just want some answers and some help. Honestly.

I decided to post this on this thread because to me, you men and women are smarter than what I've encountered on different forums or social media websites.

You see about a month ago my brother in law's brother died. Once again I point out that English isn't my native tongue, so I'm not sure if brother in law is correct. My sister's husband's brother is what I mean.

Now truth be told I wasn't close to him, but it affected me more than I wanted it.

This event got me thinking about life and death, and much more. Now I'm not an idiot, it's not like I wasn't aware that this is life. We're born, we live and we die.

But until that day I never really thought about it, I just preferred to not think about it. Just live my life.

My problem is that I can't stop thinking about it. I have so many questions that I don't have an answer.

And I'm not cleaver enough to figure it out. Now I'm not asking you answer my questions, because I realize that's not really possible since even you don't know either. But maybe hearing what you think will somehow make me stop.

Once again do not take this is an insult.

Now I believe in God. Just not the God, that we've learned from the Bible. I do believe in a higher being simply because the way I see it, you can't look at this universe and the way it works and how it is, and not think that someone or something created it. The way I see it, it's not possible for the universe that we know today to just somehow be an accident, all of it just random. To make things work in a certain way and work in that way always. And other things but I don't want to make this thread any longer.

My problem is that I can't stop thinking about the fact that one day everyone I know and love will be gone, and I will be gone as well. And there's nothing that I can do to stop any of this.

I keep thinking about what's next? Is there an afterlife? Or there's nothing? And if there is an afterlife, then what's the point of this life? And I don't mean just our lives as humans, but everything that is matter? What's the point of this universe? What's our point? Why do we even exist? Is this a much larger game that our minds can't even beginning to comprehend? Is this some sort of experiment? Is this even real? Yeah I went there. What is all for? What's the point of life if it dies?

And once again I point out that I'm not here to start a fight or insult you in any way, and if what you read did insult you. Then I apologize.

I just seek your thoughts. Because my own are driving me insane. Honestly today I woke up and the very first thought was what one day all of this will be over.

And I admit I need help. Don't really like saying this, but the way I see it, admitting your faults is part of the solution to fix yourself.

So what do you believe?

Oh and I do have to point out again, that I didn't make this thread to fight with any of you or to start a fight between any of you. So if you didn't like my post or disagree with it or anything anyone would say, then don't reply and move along.

Thank you.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

Now I could go on and on when it comes to my thoughts on god and the afterlife, but I won't, because my fingers would fall off from all the typing I'd be doing, but I will leave at least a few thoughts for you to help you out. Now of course, no one can say they know what the meaning of life is because it's different for everyone, and isn't that a beautiful thing? I personally believe that "life" is simply a practice area if you will, for a much grander phase. This plane of existence is just a tiny part of another life that is everlasting. We're here to learn lessons, and for everyone that is different. We each go through life on our own personal paths which are filled with different religions, race, sexual orientation, and the list is never ending. Now what we chose to do with said lives is our responsibility, and dreading the end doesn't really sound like a good way to spend said life, correct? Questioning it all is one thing, but don't let the unknown make you paranoid hun, because in the long run it's all about the journey, not the destination.

What I believe? There is nothing. Just some imaginary god like figures some priests in fancy robes made up because people were scared of the unknown and they desired for some certanty. We make the world we live in and after we pass, there is just one big question mark none of us mortals can answer. It would be nice to believe it doesn't end there... but I don't hold my breath. It's honestly terrifying when you think about it like that, but I prefer it then living in what feels like a lie.

Life is frail, it can end any day, at any moment, and you don't know if you ever will see the ones you care about here or somewere else. And that's what makes living to the fullest all the more important. That's what I think.

It happens at least to many to think like that all of a sudden. What you're thinking and saying is very common between humans.

You will stop thinking in this crucial way about death, death of loved ones, whether you'll see them again or not, etc after a while from now. But, I want to tell you few things from what I have read and what I'm going to say is what I know from religion.

No one knows after a human dies where s/he will be exactly. But, you'll be in a place where you're safe from being in danger at least. I don't know if it should be called ' Place ', but somewhere. Whereas you'll be treated in a good way or bad way in this ' place ' yet, I don't know. What I know for sure is the result of everything for each human is the moment that will come where everyone will know how they will spend their eternal life depending on their actions and beliefs on Earth.

What I'm going to say now is my own thoughts. The point of your life and everyone's life is us being created and not be in a state where we don't exist. You're created to be existed. Not in a state of nothingness. You're created to help human kind. You're created to live and know what you have been later. Here is the end of my own thoughts.

You're a human and only a human, and humans are the best creation that have been. The latter sentence isn't from my own thought, but God said so. There's an afterlife and it depends on your beliefs and actions in your life on whether it will be a good eternal life or a bad eternal life. For sure also, you will see the ones you know about, if they will be with you in the eternal life you'll be in I think, in the eternal life you're in.

The universe will still be there, but life on Earth will be stopped. It will be the time of judgement.

The point of this universe has a role in everything. Specific roles of every single thing in the universe, I don't know them XD Scientists of Astronomy would know much more on these roles.

There are other beings than the beings on Earth and there's more than one universe.

Your life isn't a game, an experiment, other beings controlling here, etc. Your life is true, real and at the very present you're here.

I hope I eased your mind now with what I said.

You'll be fine after a while XD

For the moment, yes, I'm a bit more calm and slowly these thoughts aren't popping out like they were before.

Thank you, thank you all.

First of all I want to give you my sincere condolences for your family's loss.

I think everyone on this planet likely ask the same questions you do and many find comfort in various ways. As for myself, I happen to be an atheist and have been one since about 2008. In dealing with grief and sadness, I've had to reconcile myself by remembering all the good times that I've spent with that person and be happy that they were part of my life.

In that sense, I agree with alexander. Live life to the absolute fullest and cherish the connections you make with others in life.

For your own situation, though, I think it would be important to just talk to people. Really, it can help to get things off your chest, talk to family, friends and of course us here at H&E. And if this is really troubling you so much, it may even be worth it to speak with a therapist. I've done so myself and it can be extremely beneficial.

I don't believe in anything. I don't deny anything. I just live in the moment.

There is scientific evidence that contradicts religious theories and big bang. Maybe the truth is in the middle. It's not something I think of often. I think if there is a God, there is only one, with different interpretations. The one that christian, jewish, and muslim people believe in. (Allah is not a different god, but the arabic word for god so christian arabic people use the word too). Reason is because there is more evidence of it.

To me it doesn't matter if God exists, because I don't feel the need for his guidance anyhow. I believe in me and some other people in this world. Not that I'm not curious to know what happens when we end, but there's only one way to find out. And I have no desire of rushing things. :thumb:

I can't find it, but there's a great (and much more poetic than I'm going to put it) quote about death. It says that 'just as I'm certain there were people to welcome you into the world here, there are people standing on a far-flung dock waiting to welcome you there. And they will surround you with the warmth and happiness that you received when you were born into this world. The family and friends that have gone ahead, the ones you don't even know yet. They're all there, waiting for you.'

Before we were born, there were people waiting for us. Hoping and expecting us. Loving us even though we'd never met them. People stress about 'after' life, but there was also a 'before' life, when we didn't exist either. When the transition was absolutely unknown, if we were ever capable of knowing it at all. (Which we weren't, cause we were babies! lol) My point is that it's a transition. And we have know reason to expect that our lost loved ones won't be waiting for us, expecting us. Just like when we were born.

I hope this helps. It's not religious nor science based. Just a thought that gives me some comfort. Try not to go down that deep hole of "Why." No one really has any answers. I kind of think we weren't meant to know. But I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope that you move through your grief so you can get back to the life that the ones who have gone on ahead most certainly want you to life. All the best.
