I think Kishimoto might have explained it more, but my guess is it was something Mito Uzumaki had built when Konoha was founded. Tsunade and Kushina should have known of it, certainly though. I would have assumed Jiraiya as well. It was a slip up to not explain it and not have Naruto know about it.

..so what? You can still tell him about his clan, his surname was already revelaed after all. I want Naruto to learn some Fuuinjutsu, or any other powerup. Don't get me wrong, he is beast. But without Kurama, he's still just rasengan+kage bunshin unless he goes all the way to Sage mode.

I believe that if Minato hadn't done what he did, Naruto would've found out when he became Hokage because he would probably have access to pretty much everything.

First of all the design of the mask Orochimaru got to control the shinigami is a long existing design from Japanese culture. When i was in Japan i brought back one souvenir and it was that exact mask, made out of porcelain. The significance of the particular design is that it has to do something with warding off demons, an artifact from the shinto religion I assume.

Secondly, I have always questioned how planed Naruto has been so far. I really don't believe most of what we are now in the middle of in recent chapter was at all planned from the beginning. We already know how much influence Kishi's editor has and that the editor has influenced Kishi to change the direction of the manga before. But that is really just a problem that comes with any periodic story-telling like comic books. It comes with the medium.

I wish Kishi's editor would force Kishi to do more with Naruto's character. He's the main character, yet he's never truly learning anything about himself or trying to at all. He just sits back and gets slapped with information at random moments instead of somehow figuring it out himself.

- His sensei blurted out the information about the Kyuubi
- He nearly released the fox before he found out who his father was (never following up and asking about his family or anything)
- He found out about his mother when he started losing against Kyuubi (at the moment, never following up to learn more about his family's past/clans)

These are the kinds of things I want to know about the main character. I'm tired of learning every single detail there is to know about the Uchiha's and Sasuke, yet we never get anything in depth for Naruto. He's never trying to find out more about himself, ever. He's always moving forward, never looking back. Just because you look back does not mean you're giving up or that you're not strong, he shouldn't have any problems trying to figure himself out more.

This whole chapter was full of pulling stuff out of nowhere. Not just the ruins, but the magical mask that summons and controls the demon god, the zetsu following Sasuke, Orochimaru and Sasuke acting completely sane in comparison to how they were, just...ridiculous.

Eh, I don't think that was where they lived, more than a shrine to preserve what was left of their traditions and all that. The masks do seem out of the blue, however The Uzumaki clan are are bearers to its design, so that not too far fetched, as Someone else stated here. Zetsus following Sasuke, I can think of no excuse for other than they needed sacrifices and for sure were not going to use them selves, so what can you do? *shrugs* And for that last part, They were never insane per say, just hellbent on their goals. They may be Malicious, sociopathic, indifferent, and determined, but not insane. They've reasoned out their actions, albeit in a questionable manner.
