You know it's so funny how during the Grand Magic Games Arc I was beginning to find Fairy Tail very dull and less appealing, but then Tartarus arc came and the initial love I felt for the series came back all of a sudden. Does Fairy Tail have it's cons oh yeah most definitely, but saying that the story is complete kitten after The Grand Magic Games is going a bit too far.  I think the reason why people sort of bash the series is because they were getting it into a time when the series was grabbing everyone's attention. I believe that if the timeskip started with Tartarus then we would have a completely different opinion on the reception from various people.

Well this is one series that managed to get back up rather than keep falling. I wouldn't say it got back up to its heyday (though you can argue that) but it certainly gotten better after that arc.

I actually feel terrible for Zeref, almost cried. Nothing that happened is his fault really. Hiro has managed to make a great "villain". Zeref is definitely one of my favorite characters. He has so much depth.

Agreed. For all the other ones that just play a role, Zeref really comes out as depth as this series is putting it.

I can't wait to se what happens with Natsu. I think it's kinda cool that there's still much more to be done with Natsu in terms of history. Natsu is my favorite character, and it's exciting that we can see him gain more depth as a character. Can't wait to see his history and how him and his demon side got split.

I know I said it before but I was put off by Fairy Tail around that point in time until after The GMG ARC ended and then we got the Sun Village Arc which was okay, and you know what I'm about to say for Tartarus so that one really doesn't need any explaining.  I totally agree with what you are saying 4life it hasn't gone back to what it used to be, but all I can say is that it's defintely pretty damn close to what it once was.

I feel ya bro I remember the first time Zeref showed up I found him fascinating because of the mysteries surrounding his character. And when he showed up again post GMG arc I was like oh kitten he's back only for it to be a tease, and then Tartarus came and holy hell my anticipation spiked but he quickly went away again. For me Zeref became probably my favorite character after we got the revelation that he is Natsu's brother and it makes so much sense given all the hints in the story that Hiro Mashima dropped. 

 

I always find myself struggling when it comes to who is in the number of favorite characters between Natsu and Zeref.

That reunion man like when the bombshell drops that Natsu and Zeref are brothers to him like kitten's gonna hit the fandom the day Natsu finds out. 

 

One thing I've noticed when visiting other forums is that a small bunch of people are comparing Zeref to Obito, and I mean Obito obviously is my favorite, but I think Zeref is done much better than how Obito was handled.

What an amazing chapter. So much feels. I really felt for Zeref and Mavis!

 

I don't think Mavis died right after they kissed. I think some time passed (months?) before Mavis died! Imo Mavis din't really "die", she is just trapped between life and death because her and Zerefs curse collided. For all we know, Zeref could be the one who sealed her body away!

 

Also I think Zeref will not be the final villain. But rather the god who curse people. I can actually see Natsu and Zeref teaming up to take him out!

Okay so it was just like I predicted but didn't hope for. Well it's fine, I'm looking forward to seeing what this secret technique Natsu's been working on. and that he will come to know the truth eventually.

Well this chapter feels lacking, I expected a bit more from the flashback, all we got was, she created the guild, met Zeref, found out the truth, accidently killed Makarovs mother, ran away, met zeref, fell in love, died, got sealed in a Lacryma and became source of infinate magic.

 

We never found out when she became the spirit, or why she was on the Island, or even why Zeref was there, If other manga could be accused of taking too long in flashbacks, (Seriously who does a flashback within a flackback?) FT seems to not spend enough time in it.

I agree. This was a good oppoturnity for the series to really delve in its history. I wished that the flashback would be something as long as "TBTP" arc in Bleach.
