Yeah, it really was. I don't remember the puppets either, but I don't mind that addition. It makes sense within the realms of his abilities... I just realized... Deidara is an extreme bulimic.

Yeeha! I love this fight! Deidara is such a freakin' nutjob, you can't help but love him!
And yeah, the puppets were a new addition, but I actually liked them. The fact that the animators seem to be expanding most of the Akatsuki fights is pretty nice, as most of them in the manga didn't really get to show why these people are considered global threats. The anime really seems to be going out of it's way to show us "Yeah, these guys will kill you. A LOT."
I think this is probably my favorite episode of Naruto Shippuuden so far. And I don't even like Sasuke, so that's saying something.

I didn't thing the animation was THAT great. I mean, the episode was okay, I liked the addition of the puppets in it, but it's definitivaly not my favorite.

nice episode, liked the little additions the animators made to deidara's skills. yeah not much to be said since i'm completely engulfed in the manga. xD

I'm happy to finally see the Deidara and Sasuke fight. It was always one of my favs in Shippuden.

This episode reminded me of how much Gaara vs. Deidara made me fall in love with this anime all over again. The puppets were a fantastic addition without even sticking out as being such. The music was good, the animation was good, Tobi's humor was of course good.
All in all, this was a great prelude of things to come!
