I think that when you put all of the interviews together (including the ones made prior to the ending), you get the sense that Kishimot wanted to make Sakura a proper heroine, but simply had no idea how to go about doing this. He tried to make her prettier and tried giving her new abilities, but nothing would stick and her popularity continued to be at issue. In one interview, he outright says that he will try to make her a proper heroine from now on. But no matter what he did, she just never fell into place. At the same, he's facing pressure from Studio Pierott (see one of the above interviews where he mentions said studio's desire for a NH movie). He's also watching youtube interviews from diehard NH supporters like Sawyer7 (who he specifically mentions as having watched). So finally, he says "screw it." Lo and behold, a one note side character becomes a heroine overnight and Sakura's arc spends the reminder of its time fading away into obscurity. A side character who I could literally and easily edit out of this 700 chapter manga in a smooth fashion if someone were willing to draw me 20-30 new pages of content and material. 

 

Of course, I'm very much inclined to agree with our good friend, Riverkid and the following assessment: 

 

 

And for me, I never really cared about "shipping" NS in the traditional sense. I simply looked at the character progression throughout much of the story and saw NS as the logical outcome of Sakura's character arc, especially considering the author has never specified a reason as to why she's in love with Sasuke. For much of the manga, her arc appeared to center around the themes of maturity and self-discovery and it appeared that Naruto's feelings for her was the vehicle for these themes to be explored. But alas, that never came to fruition. And not only did that never come to fruition, but so did a great deal of things in this series  that simply leaves me scratching my head to this very day.

Indeed, as I've stated right after I stepped on this site, I came here because it made sense to me, not for loving the couple, I realized their chemistry after reading NS supporters' arguments doe.

Misstatement. Sawyer7 is the one who made a video about inadvertently running into Kishimoto at the 2014 Jump Fiesta and Kishi telling him that he knows who he his and that he watched his videos.

 

And don't get me wrong. I think they have plenty of chemistry and believe the author attempted to show this with various subtle moments throughout the entire series (even as far back as chapter 4 when Sakura chastizes Naruto about his attempted chalk prank on Kakashi, but Inner Sakura admits to thinking the prank is awesome).

Omg. I wonder if NS supporters would have been as aggressive as NH fans way back in the time and made a YT blog like him it would have done as much as noice for Kishimoto to notice it...and what would have happened.

NS supporters were so confident in what was plainly being presented in the story that they were content waiting until the ending so they could say "Told you so." They had no reason to get desperate. Chapter 469 should've been a wake up call I guess.

Wow it's the same for me. I honestly wasn't invested in any ships at all until after it was over. I just thought I was naturally progressing to NS, so when Naruto ended I was shocked (at the overall way it ended too not just the pairings) and that's when I really started to appreciate them as a pair. I just like good storytelling. NS is the only pair I "ship" in anything and I didn't even when it was ongoing lol

Well there you go. For future reference, boys and girls, if you want a ship to happen, make endless youtube videos demanding that it happens regardless of any prior character progression in the story.

 

Wish I had known about this technique in the past. Would've definitely given it a shot with the crack ship in my sig prior to that manga ending.

It's just like when you search google for something , of course naturally you gonna click the first link that appears or at least check the entire page one, who has time to browse the entire 10 page ?? . Bad luck for kishi for at least the first 5 link that appear when he search youtube is all NH / Pro ending fans , Sawyer , forneverwold , double4anime  etc ....

As to these NH youtube videos, what Kishi did probably is what a lot of fanfic authors do when they read their reviews. They look at it, see a reviewer leave a criticism and decided to base their entire next chapter on pacifying that reviewer's criticism regardless of whether it is truly good for the story. Hell, I've made that mistake myself, so I can relate. Can't let your desire to get more reviews cloud your judgment or else you risk compromising the integrity of your story.

I'd say the nh and NS fans are equal on fanfiction. Some nh fanfiction are better than the kitten kishi and who currently writing naruto writes.

There was a post on tumblr I saw recently that summed up NH after the ending and Kishimoto's interviews. There was someone who commented on how NH fans live off headcanons and filler instead of canon. I thought it might be appreciated here.

 

 

well, when everything in canon is a slap in the face to them, i’m not really surprised. ☕️

• kishi: hinata – who has the byakugan, btw (like, 360º vision and has been trained to walk upside down & on the water surface) – tripped on a rock and gave up on personally trying to help naruto, whilst sakura performed medical ninjutsu, manually pumped his heart with her hand & administered CPR with practically no chakra.

• kishi: naruto had feelings for sakura for 699 chapters – he develops feelings for hinata in the movie that i didn’t think was important enough to mention at all in my work. apparently it’s the result of a genjutsu and feeling sorry for her or something?

Kishi has stated that even Kaguya is somewhere on the same level as Nappa. kittening Nappa who was manhandled by a pure Kaioken Goku. Darkseid would not even bother fighting those Metahuman wannabes that call themselves Ninjas.

Same here really. Pairings are actually one of the further issues I have with the ending unless romance is (made into) a central plot point. In that case, I don't usually care who ends up with who as long as the development supports whatever outcome occurs. Heck, Naruto could have somehow ended up with a resurrected Kin or Tayuya and I wouldn't care so long as the (individual / mutual) development was there to support it. So I actually don't mind NH in general, but in the context of the story as it was, there was no consistent, mutual, or meaningful development to support NH happening. I can read numerous NH fanfics that are actually decent, but that's usually because such fanfics start off sometimes even before the main start of the series and actually develop NH from the ground up (with better ones also not just bashing Sakura either), having them interact more (both normally and more intimately as time goes on), having them actually develop into better people and/or shinobi through those interactions, and so on.

Hell make truce with Darkseid to help and he'll take care of the war. If your wondering why he would help is case if marada does his infinite dream thing he won't be able to get his anti life equation since the infinite dream thing is a lamer version of the anti life equation. And then hinata goes after Darkseid after he kills naruto and Darkseid just messes with her and oneshots her, while he takes Sakura to apocalypse to become strong.
