Izanami was the stupidest jutsu in the series.

All the "special" Uchiha Jutsu with the Sharingan are if you ask me, Nate! And I mostly refer to Izanagi, Izanami, and Kotoamatsukami because of how stupid busted they are, even if the eye loses all sight.

He should've made Sakura develop her own Jutsus and show her some love as a character and not make her into a slightly stronger Tsunade clone that thinks of nothing else besides Sasuke.

Would've added way more to the story than stupid eye power.

Add in in the fact that so called forbidden, nigh impossible to use or outright dangerous techniques were being handed out like candy at that point in the plot and anyone can see why the story devolved to such mind numbing idiocy. You either break your story with with the narrative's story breaking powers or you conveniently forget they ever existed.

I agree, but I can take it one step further. 

It is not about the cheap plot conveniences themselves and the flashy attacks that cause the most confusion. It is the fact that we started out with what was supposed to be a tactical battle manga where the concept of planet busters are out of the question. Keep it more down to Earth and they just cranked it up just for the sake of "this is what the fans wanted."

I mean, Naruto started cracking moons apart in Naruto the Last and we have ninja be aliens. What happened to the down to earth tactical battles? Naruto is not supposed to be Goku with more transformations and just "blast him with a bigger attack." Now that is all that is left. 

Remember when Minato was considered the ultimate threat? Where armies were literally given a "Flee upon sight" order? Now Minato can barely hold a candle.

The rules kept changing for the sake of the plot. 
Sharingans went from "you have to kill your friend" to "you have to watch someone you love die"
The Byakugan fluxed and I have no clue what it is capable of
Naruto gained a healing ability that only works...well, once or twice. The other abilities were abandoned.

It would've been better to just combine her training with Tsunade (medical ninjutsu/enhance strength taijutsu) with her original "Genjutsu" potential. That would've made Sakura competent and stay near the levels of Naruto and Sasuke.

The ones that came out after Amaterasu were OP (especially Susanoo). Izanagi had the potential to be truly OP because Obito’s house of eyes rendered the cost inconsequential, but it didn’t see much use after the Danzo fight. However, OP did not make them dumb in the the way I’m talking about it. 

 

Izanami was stupid in the literal sense. It was stupid in concept and stupid in use. It’s only use was as a plot device to break Kabuto’s Edo Tensei and serve as vehicle for his redemption. It’s hyper specific design meant it had no value  or purpose other than this one thing. As an aside, Konoha and Naruto are just not going to ask or think about where he got his “supplies” to make all the Edo Tensei ninja. They just let him run a orphanage as if he hadn’t been a mass murderer who supplied Obito with lots of soldiers and resurrected Madura. No risk there, I’m sure. I mean, if a kid or two goes missing who is going to notice? Crap like this is why the pairing results are, for me, small potatoes. 

 

Izanami presented the idea that accepting ones fate as a positive when there is no reason it had to be or how ultimately this would solve the problem Izanagi presented once the user was free from it. Hell, given it use as a counter to Izanagi how do you even not when to execute it, since the Sasuke and Konon the Barbarian fights really make it seem like its use can only be detected after the fact. A little late then, I’d imagine. Moreover, against anyone but someone like Danzo (i.e. someone who has multiple eyes on hand or an immediate way to obtain more) will usually mean your opponent typically has very limited uses before they are totally blind (not to mention that suddenly losing an eye would itself be hard to deal with considering how vision and depth perception work).

 

It still makes limited sense as to why this was chosen as the method to counter Izanagi and how one would develop given its cost.  It’s so clunky and bizarre in the way its supposed to counter Izanagi, that it borderline useless and probably less effective than what Sasuke did when fighting Danzo (forcing him to burn through most of the eyes).

 

It was just a bad plot device and felt like it was put in the series because well, we have Izanagi, so I guess we gotta have Izanami too.

He should have given her wood release as it is one of the three great powers in Naruto: Eye powers, Tailed Beast, Wood release. Guess what the other two have?

 

The first Hokage was able to rival Madara with only wood release while he had both Sharingan and Kurama. Madara was only able to surpass Hashirama when he got wood release as well.

How about a Jutsu that heals from afar? Strength of the healing depening on how strong her bond with that person is, or on trust. Or give her the ability to manipulate chakra. Could've been used to help Naruto to control the 9-Tails chakra. Would've made her pretty relevant and useful.

 

She dosen't need to be strong like the boys ... Her strength is supposed to be her smartness, right? Why not just go with that? Make her the reason for winning battles that seem lost. Kakashi is also smart. Why not let him train that side of her? The Potential is Endless.

I would give Sakura water release. Drive home the fact that Sasuke and Her don't go together.. Give Naruto wood and wind. Sasuke Lightning and Fire. A rock paper scissors motif.

Oh I agree with you James and I feel Sakura should have gotten the battle axes Kishi drew, how badass would that have made Sakura?

And as an added plus only Sakura could use them, just to piss Sasuke off.

The rules of the wood release is so enigmatic. Like, the only way one can have it is if people takes Hasihirama's dna ONLY, but t doesn't past down familiarly.

Yes, I know. But it never got explained why it can't be inherited or how Harashima learned to use it, right?

That's why I say it is enigmatic. It doesn't make sense and only seems to be a plot device. Not as bad as the sharingan because it is not as abused, but still just as plot convenient. 

Why can't wood release be passed down familiarly? Why can't Tsunade do wood release?  

By the way, yes Sakura has earth and water I do believe, but she never uses them. Hell, Naruto never uses his wind release other than rasenshurikan.

Does anybody has the official list of who has elemental affinities? I thought when that databook came out Sakura's affinities were completely different.
