whenever i break down to buy photoshop and other art software i'll make some.

I'm pretty sure your wallet will be broken too.

Prepare to dish out a couple hundred bucks for a piece of software.

Not if you're just gonna make a few pieces of art.

I have friends that use it for web design and other things, so the "close-to-a-grand" piece of software is great for them. I say only buy it if you're a designer of some kind, otherwise, it's really not worth the money if fanart is all you're going to make.

So I am http://tsuna-chan.deviantart.com/

I think I've seen some of you floating around on deviant art. I haven't really posted anything in a while. Try more like six months. Mostly cause I can't find a camera to take a picture of my sewings lol.

I used to draw... now I can't, so I sew. (:

What about posting them here? It's a smaller audience and we're more likely to give good criticism.

Okay thanks Cloud! happy.gif What is that the majority of the DA artists use? You can tell alot of their work isn't hand drawn and scanned.

I don't have a clue what artists use, but The Gimp is pretty good for graphics manipulation. When I'm editing images to make avatars, I use it nearly as often as I use Photoshop CS2.

Okay, thanks Nick-kun!! a_thumbs.gif

Yeah, i've wanted to know how people especially from NF, were taking a panel out of a manga page, coloring/fill in the manga character, and resizing the image to make cool sets and also gifs from anime videos.

The Gimp is an excellent sub for Photoshop.

But I'm sure if you ask around, people will point you to free software that can help you make gifs. Animated gifs are pretty tough to make though.

I'll probably get back into the habit once I buy my new laptop.

You can actually make animated gifs with The Gimp, too. But it's a bit harder and I don't know how to vary the speed of the frames so I usually use ImageReady CS2 for that.

I use gimp, and making gifs is actually kind of easy. For example, Nick, you can preset the standard delay for each frame, but if you need to increase it for a particular one, use more of the same frames.

There's also a website you can use that's really good for making gifs - you can even set the amount of delay for each frame. Only problem is, color quality's real low. I'd reccommend it for beginners but not for professional-grade stuff.

If anyone wants a gimp gif making tutorial...
