Please tell me Tonberry is in this game.

There are two Tornberry type monsters in the game.

Regular Tornberry is a Commando and quite tough to beat so make sure you have a well developed party and well developed monsters.

Don Tornberry is also a Commando monster however is tougher than Tornberry.

Both monsters are a very good addition to the paradigm pack but have low recruiting percentage. This however can be solve with high feral link synchronize percentage as well as the battlemania fragment which increases the chance of rare and tougher monsters to appear more often than regular.

Just beat the game and I dont't know why most people don't like the game. I thought it was pretty good, just really disappointed about the ending.... better be a FF 13-3 with happy ending. Anyone else think SE wasnt telling the truth when they said TO BE CONTINUED means to play the other paradoxes?

I mean you never even find out what happened with Snow, Fang, or Vanille.
They never tell you why Lightning turns into crystal or why she turns into crystal on the Goddess's throne.
And Serah's vision of the future was never really shown, along with the chaos being unleashed on the world.
I really don't want SE to end 13 like this, it needs a happy ending with Snow and Serah getting married and Lightning alive.

No one thinks the game itself isn't good. No one is happy about the ending to the game, as you yourself mention. And Square Enix is telling the truth about the 'To Be Continued' being the opening to go try to get all the Paradox Endings. What they plan to do is release dlcs that give different 'Episodes' of all the character stories you mentioned that weren't wrapped up. There will be a 'Lightning' dlc as well as a 'Snow' and 'Hope' dlc. And this is what has a LOT of FF fans pissed off, because SE seems to just be trying to drain people's pockets dry of money. The argument is why bother makes us pay $60+ for a game when SE isn't even giving us a 'full game'. We have to pay more to find out what happens to Lightning. Then we have to pay again to find out what happens to Snow. And then pay once again to find out what happens to Hope. Oh and then also we should pay to get another dlc that will give more weapons and accessories. SE just wants to milk a dry horse like they keep doing with the Kingdom Hearts franchise. There will never be a Kingdom Hearts 3 at this rate, as SE seems to enjoy continually releasing bad or boring 'ports' and 'sidegames' of KH on every conceivable console and handheld gaming device in existence.

I agree, it was very poor from Squeenix. That kind of behaviour will only drive fans away and consign Final Fantasy to the bargain bin. In fact, I remember being surprised at how quickly FFXIII-2 was reduced at the shop where I work. Both Squeenix and Capcom have been hammered for their behaviour towards their fans and DLC, and I think they will find that they can lose sales and their standing very quickly if they try to take advantage of their fans. DLC has become an accepted part of gaming these days, but there is still a line that must not be crossed. Why should we pay more to see the ending?

Personally, I won't be touching another Final Fantasy game unless it has a complete story and gets fantastic reviews. I love my RPGs and adventures, but there are plenty of wonderful titles from other companies that reward you more for your playing time.

My thoughts exactly, and those were actually my first thoughts from the very first cutscene with him and Lightning at the start of the game, when he was placing Yeul into the water (which scene totally reminded me of Cloud placing Aerith into the Lifestream from Advent Children~). No man who looks at a woman the way Caius did with Yeul with so much love, longing, and deep heartfelt regret could truly be a heartless cruel 'bad guy' at heart.

I sincerely hope no one falls for it either and a message is sent. It's not a good sign that Squeenix is looking to pull this. Bioware is already the master of ripping you off on DLC. Activision is the master of ripping you off period.

And some of my friends wonder why I don't even bother with games with significant DLC, preferring to wait for a GOTY edition. If you're not going to give me the full experience I'm not going to give you my money. At the very least, if there's no GOTY edition, I'll wait for the game to drop to twenty bucks K-Mart or whatever, so that even if I have to buy DLC it's not going to be over the cost of a full, new game. Part of it is a disdain for non physical media, part of it's just plain refusing to be ripped off. I'd rather wait on a game, no matter how much I anticipate it.

Very true and the fact that they are adding so much DLC like more Coliseum battles is square's desperate attempt to make the game good and to take more money from the fans at the same time. They are about to release a DLC Coliseum battle against Ultros and Typhon and also new costumes from ME3 . Yep square wants to milk the cow squeezing more money from the fans.

Simple solution from the above? Don't buy the DLCs. No point in raging about a video game.

I happen to own both games. True, I've been distracted and not had much time to dedicate to finishing either, but I've seen various Paradox endings and the 'primary' ending that requires no special tricks in XIII-2.

As for XIII-2's plot, I understand it:

Caius had been turned into a l'Cie in order to protect Yeul. Etro, moved by his dedication, freed him from his fate. However, in the process, she granted him eternal life. Over the centuries, he grew to care for Yeul and had to watch her die, be reborn, and die again, always dying young (I think the oldest version seen in the game was only 17 and the youngest was 14). After a LONG time, he grew fed up with Yeul's bad hand and decided to destroy time by killing Etro so she wouldn't have to die over and over again.

Unlike Noel and Serah, he doesn't travel through time. He instead is just living forever and using Yeul's visions of the future to know things as he faced the two protagonists of the game.

I don't know if that is as clear to anyone else as it is to me.

I also enjoy what I've played of both games. While I enjoyed X and X-2's more turn-based style and XII's real-time turn-based hybrid, the speed of XIII and XIII-2's turn-based battles really mean I have to think on my feet. Unlike X, X-2, and XII, you can't just walk around with characters who have the ability to use any magic or ability. In XIII and XIII-2, you can max out each tree, but you can only be specialized in one at a time....ie, you can't cast healing magic while a Commando and you can't deal damage as a Medic. I happen to like that.

As I got XIII-2 as a pre-order gift from a family member, I have that DLC that came with it free. I also have the, so far, one free DLC they've added. And, yes, I am looking at the other DLCs for future purchase. Amoung other things, having XIII Lighting, XIII-2 Lightning, Hope, Sazh, and other XIII characters (major or not (like Lightning's old CO, lol)) as summons that'll fight alongside me in battle if I get their crystal, just adds to the fun, if you ask me.

Anyways I found the concept of the game VERY interesting when I read about it, I just HATED THE CANON ENDING.

I honestly saw Serah and Noel's relationship to be professional maybe something as best friends but I never saw any romantic hints from one to the other. Besides Serah's has shown clearly in the game that she only loves Snow though I like the pairing. I prefer Snow/Lightning and also Noel/Lightning even if they only talked at the beginning of the game I kind saw some chemistry between the two. If there's ever a XIII-3 square should develop Noel/Lightning.

BTW the 360 version of XIII-2 is only 19.99$ NEW I don't know about the PS3 version though.

I don't like Hope/Lightning it has been shown as a mother/son relationship. That's why it annoys me when I see so much fan fiction of said pairing, even more when it's Fang/Lightning or Vanille/Lightning. I prefer Hope/Vanille.

Ehh, I saw chemistry between them, and Serah may change her mind if there's a sequel and she lives. besides Snow seems to take other priorities at the moment. besides I read somewhere that the creators comments that hinted on another relationship for Serah throughout the game
