Following what Kishi had done with the original manga, no doubt NS would have been canon, otherwise, it is what Skarrow said.

How's his own manga? Has it ended yet?His brother would have gone with a heartwarming Team 7 ending, and kept the love triangle between Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke unresolved so everyone could make up headcanons about how X paired up with Y and gave birth to Z.
And left the story at that.
To me at least, he seems smarter at ending stories properly.
Even a rock has something it can be used for. There's a way for them to shine that even a jewel can't compare to - Sakamochi Tatsuma

His brother has his own career and he wants to be as done with Naruto as possible.
