#987102 The Great Naruto Discussion Thread

Posted by MangaReader on 25 May 2022 - 04:09 AM

I'm positive of one thing... Boruto's biggest flaw isn't actually the pairings, though excuse me when I say I do think they suck. Nah, it's the fact it's trying to, more or less, tell the same tired story Naruto went through while discarding all the characters we grew to like on Naruto's journey. Boruto and company, just by existing, are exponentially more powerful than Naruto, Sasuke, etc. all because, well, they're the "NEW" generation.

I'd like to compare it to the far more successful for the time but now seen as a meh series due to the series now having a "true" successor, Dragon Ball GT. At least with GT, when it decided to continue the Dragon Ball storyline, it knew exactly who everyone was rooting for and focused on. Goku, while definitely portrayed as a completely different character and also plot devised into de-aging and maybe given way too much focus, was still the main character. Compare that to how the story treats the title character of it's predecessor, Naruto. Dude literally takes all the L's imaginable despite being god of the ninjaverse. Oh and Kaguya, who was already a plot device used to defeat Madara, she was the weakest, uhh Ōtsutsuki?

Seriously, we went from ninja's with the ability to basically do magic... to kittening aliens. And the sales are going down? Who'd a thunk it lol

#987074 The Great Naruto Discussion Thread

I feel like a lot of us have "moved" on from this forum, not for a lack of interest or fading interest in the ship itself, but rather because it has been 8 years more or less... we've practically discussed all that needs to be discussed. We can't change the outcome of the story and there seems to be no intention of making any sort of fix despite how awful Boruto's numbers are for both the manga and anime. Doesn't mean we don't still visit, like I'm doing just now, lol. Nah, NaruSaku is always gonna hold that number one spot to me for best shipping, regardless of how many new pairings or confirmed sails I've gained/will gain/etc. It's got great chemistry, it's got good characters, heck the colors compliment each other.

And I'm not just saying all this because a particular friend of mine happens to have, from the looks of it, slipped off the deep end and suddenly decided to become a NaruHina shipper... *cough

I barely stomach the fact NaruHina is official, the fanfiction about it beforehand is still 1000x worst. That's actually saying something considering Kishimoto personally went out of his way to have Naruto and Hinata interact as little as possible.

SasuSaku at least can claim interactions, ever so brief... and terrible

NaruHina has nothing and rightfully gets dumped on

The anime, in and of itself, didn't really do Sakura justice... but really, Pierrot didn't do justice to any character except Hinata. They shoulda never outright stated that half the staff was bias towards Hinata, literally was killed any position defenders of the studio could have taken.

The sh#* I've seen on Twitter over the past 2 years is quite honestly astonishing. SasuSaku fans have the highest of reaches over the littlest of interactions...

I just wanna point out Kishimoto isn't the one who wrote the Retsuden. Rather it's Jun Esaka who wrote them, although Kishimoto provided the illustrations. So this series of novels are branded spin-offs meaning their canonicity can be questioned if you so chose? Speaking of which... I'm actually amused to see a lot of NaruHina fans and SasuSaku fans actually seem to despise the others ships. I guess Pro-enders aren't exactly pro-ending after all. Most of their common arguments are just s*** we've always pointed out in the first place. I guess they really are just jealous our non-canon pairing had a more wholesome relationship XD

As we all predicted (since I can't seem to get any working format to post this image, come on guys)

https://pbs.twimg.co...&name=4096x4096

Anyone care to attempt when a picture such as this could have possibly taken place lol? And why the hell does everything NaruHina wise seem to have to involve Sakura? Funny enough, the question being asked in this picture was the kids asking Hinata if her and Naruto were in love with each other when they were kids and Hinata just out right tries to change the subject entirely.

#974941 Whats your OTP now that NS was given the pipe?

Posted by MangaReader on 28 September 2019 - 12:03 AM

Is it wrong that NaruSaku is still my all-time OTP? I don't personally think so, but I'm sure some people would tell me the dream is over... ah well

Not sure how many of you have heard of Konosuba(Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!)? It's actually a Light Novel, with manga and anime adaptions, but the canon pairing, at least thus far and many doubts for which it to end given it's massively popularity with the franchise, is KazuMin (Kazuma + Megumin). For a comedy based novel, the author sure knows how to write some great chemistry and characterization. I definitely recommend giving it a look if you haven't.

They're adorable

That's gotta be my new OTP

When in doubt, you can always rely on the clown show that is the NaruHina fandom. I've never witnessed a bigger group of crybabies in my life then with them and their suppose to be the winners. Any sort of disagreement amounts to them taking on defense, with little to no offense available. I mean, this a group that relies heavily on Boruto to support their arguments regarding the Naruto manga, where they have next to nothing. Even their precious Last movie didn't exactly deliver the story they wanted, Naruto wasn't in love with Hinata at any point in the manga according to the film.

SasuSaku isn't much better, but they at least hold Sakura in high regard, though probably not for reasons we'd like. My problems with that group stem from Sasuke however and it's not gonna change thanks in part to Boruto showing us how much of a failed marriage that is.

#974929 Boruto: Naruto Next Generation Anime Discusion

Posted by MangaReader on 27 September 2019 - 04:37 PM

You all deserve a medal for even keeping up with Boruto... the only reason I know about this bs time travel thing is I follow Crunchyroll on Twitter and they flood my timeline with Boruto junk every now and then. And its also thanks to that junk I find people who actually still play defense for the pairing fandom. I've never seen a group of "winners" have to play defense so much or rather care that much at all what someone who frankly thinks the writing is trash thinks. They're still clowning that NH and SS are perfect ships and that the quality of their interactions overcomes their quantity of interactions.

Won't be shocked if this arc goes out of it's way to make Naruto and Hinata have positive interactions (all those filler episodes of them are now "canon" derp) and for Sasuke to somehow have a soft side for Sakura (or rather Sakura fangirling...again). Assuming this is a time period before Sasuke leaves the village for power. Part of me wants to keep up with it to see how badly it fails to draw my actual interest

#974927 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by MangaReader on 27 September 2019 - 04:10 PM

I have oh so much I should talk about to make up for lost time... but that would be rude and I just can't do that to you guys. My apologies for seemingly falling off the face of the Earth however.

I knew it, I totally flat out knew they just couldn't avoid doing a lame *** time traveling plot. I mean they're already running on fumes as it is, why not just bring in the money maker to bring in the old fans even more. The Last more or less sucks, bring in the Naruto and Sasuke bromance in the Boruto movie to change fans opinions. Your new show is basically part 1 Naruto without any of the things that made part 1 so great? Lets travel back in time so we can bring back young Naruto as a crutch who could potentially make Boruto look cool and change fans opinions... again.

It all about milking money at this point and it truly is a big disservice to this franchise that made money because of its storytelling and early-mid characterization, not because of it's relationships and OP level characters with bland and recycled personalities.

#974926 So, how did YOU react to the ending?

Posted by MangaReader on 27 September 2019 - 03:57 PM

Holy F*** it's been so long, do you people even remember me? If you don't, I hardly blame you. But my word its great to finally be back... all this time feeling like I'd be alone with this struggle.

Anyway, how did I react? I honestly think I just went empty... the utmost garbage part about the ending was finding it out through Naruto the Last image spoilers before the actual final two chapters dropped. I just remember the community kinda panicking hoping it was all fake or something else entirely, but I believe it was just our own inability to admit Kishimoto hacked himself out of writing his manga the true way he wanted to end it, all because a sequel was needed apparently.

I miss the psychotic Sasuke who was gonna burn the whole village to the ground from the Kage Summit... that seemed far more in character then his War Arc persona that decided to be Hokage to initiate a revolution.

#905737 The NEW NaruSaku Debate Thread

Posted by MangaReader on 23 March 2016 - 06:14 AM

Apparently to cope with the fact Sasuke is not truly a family man, the SasuSaku fans have become delusional in claiming Sasuke is just a very private guy, thus is embarrassed to do loving things in public despite the confirmation we know he has never once kissed Sakura despite the fact that they somehow have a child. Don't ask me how they come up with this BS, I couldn't give you an answer if I tried. Worst part is that forehead tap is supposedly the most romantic thing ever... where did we go wrong?
