Holy F*** it's been so long, do you people even remember me? If you don't, I hardly blame you. But my word its great to finally be back... all this time feeling like I'd be alone with this struggle.

Anyway, how did I react? I honestly think I just went empty... the utmost garbage part about the ending was finding it out through Naruto the Last image spoilers before the actual final two chapters dropped. I just remember the community kinda panicking hoping it was all fake or something else entirely, but I believe it was just our own inability to admit Kishimoto hacked himself out of writing his manga the true way he wanted to end it, all because a sequel was needed apparently.

Hey, Manga Reader, how's it going, buddy! Honestly, that's why I think that Kishimoto's distanced himself from Naruto and focused mostly on Samurai 7. He knows he F***ed up big time, so he wants to make sure he doesn't get distracted or manipulated again and end up ruining Samurai 7. I haven't read it yet, since i'm hesitant too after what was done to Naruto... but I might check it out at some point.

Oh I'm doing fine, nothing major going on though. Still kinda finding myself always coming back to Naruto no matter how much I try to avoid it, cause gosh darn it, it was a solid series.

I think my reaction could have mellowed out, like it kinda finally has, if Kishimoto for that yearly time period hadn't decided to continuously damage his stories own narrative with the talk of red herrings, terrible person if you stop loving a psychopath, and all that other stuff I've forgotten about

Being honest here, I felt Kishimoto had been dropping the ball for a long time prior to the ending. It was clear this was a series being milked, and the new stuff they were adding was already tearing the story apart. Everything after Pein is just a cancerous tumor that grew and grew until they decided to name it Boruto.

Well, I got back from work that day and wanted to see if the rumors were true, and once I did well guys I felt dead inside, I had no idea what happened or why I just kept hoping it was a trick or something, but sadly we all know it was happening.

Even three days after the last chapter came out, I still felt like all the joy in the world was now dead. I couldn't smile or laugh even when watching South Park.

I didn't like it, obviously. The writing had been going downhill for awhile, and the ending was awful.

Looking back for me it was the beginning of a bad time for me. Lost on of my favorite stories, later that year lost my fiancee after she left me. Just a lot of negativity from that time period.

I was in college at the time, but on vacation when it got released. Spent mad hours mocking it, because it was and still is a kittening joke. In fact Naruto started to devolve right around Danzou's death. I'm of the opinion that Danzou should have been the real end game all along, instead of some bigass dumb extraterrestrial monster, why not make it the hidden type that you have been living with your whole life as it insidiously infects everything around you?

If Kishimoto really wanted to "Change the system" through Naruto then he should have had Danzou become a fascist and take Konoha over but thats neither here nor there....

The biggest stick in my eye will always be Kishi running his mouth after the ending about how "Sakura can't get over Sasuke...she's addicted and would be a bad woman." and "Naruto doesn't know what love is." and "It now snows in Konoha because of retcon!" I could have accepted NH even if it was kitten, I cannot look at SS and see any reason why they should be together. None.

Sasuke said the same damn thing in 693, and all of a sudden they have a kid together in 700? I'm sorry but important changes should happen on screen, not off.

I fall in and out of love with Naruto periodically. Had a dry spell that lasted years and now I'm back and just focusing on the things I did love. Like Sasori/Sakura, Which is the best SS pairing.  :fu:

So I got mad, mocked it and now I just choose to accept what I like about it and ignore the rest.

I don't blame you on all of that. It's taken me time to move on and remember what I liked about Naruto more than what I hated.

You're so right. That's how it should have gone. The quiet old elder who is hoarding power in ways that Orochimaru would approve of. Having Naruto and Sakura uncover Danzou's plot would definitely have been living up to Kakashi's "look underneath the underneath" theme.

Ooo Sasori/Sakura. So good and right there waiting to happen!! Kishi must have been thinking it too, that's why he made Sasori so pretty in the end. For his big fight with the equally lovely Sakura.

I still remember believing Danzo was "Tobi" for a time. Same silhouette, keeping opposite eyes covered, and Danzo revealing the Sharingan only pushed my belief.

Him or Tobirama's body possessed or something, lol. (I could've sworn early entries actually had Hashirama as the serious one and Tobirama as the more laid back one, which would've supported "Tobi's" jokester attitude.)

SASORI was the first person to look at Sakura seriously and be like "dayum, what a girl." He also gave her a creepy marriage proposal and did something "useless and sentimental" for her. :smug:

And he was basically her only serious fight through the series...ffs Sasosaku had more development in understanding one another than Sasusaku has on screen.

Yes absolutely. He acknowledges her. And we all know what an important theme that was in Naruto (or the first half of it at least!).

I've also thought there were some interesting parallels there too, in that Sakura's biggest fight was against a puppet and Naruto's biggest fight in that arc was also against a puppet (Pain) who then wanted to turn him into a puppet basically. They wanted to control him/control the kyuubi. Basically they saw him as a vessel, an empty shell, a puppet.

It could have been a point that brough Naruto and Sakura closer, that they both fought battles that were so similar. In fact, I thought Sakura's skill against Sasori would come back in the Pain battle, by recognizing that he was essentially a human puppet, not a wooden one. But, alas, no.

It also would have been healthy for Naruto to have seen someone else recognizing Sakura. And it would have been healthy for naruto to have recognized that there are other people better suited to fight against or partner with Sakura. Because a Sakura/Sasori partnership would be a truly fearsome thing. They would be better suited to each others skills than any of Team 7 was. (Sure Team 7 had crazy power, but they never fit together like Shika-Choji-Ino did.)

edit: The Sakura/Sasori fight gets featured in Voice in the Wind in the next chapter. So yeah, I feel ya about them!!

I know what you mean. I want to show some of jealous Naruto regarding some things with Sakura when it comes to other guys at times as well as how she is with her feelings for Naruto and Sasuke changing in The Demon Within. As fort how to do that... I dunno yet. But I do know there's a good idea somewhere to do for that. And just how it also would make Naruto feel like he needs to be able to be better to stand by Sakura's side, and how she'd need to feel that sometimes too.

The thing about Sasori/Sakura partnership whether its romantic or just business is that they are in fact different but oddly complimentary. Sasori seems to reflect Sakura--he fights at a distance, she fights up close, she deals mostly in curing ailments while he exists in the realm of inflicting them--but to inflict them he also has to know how to cure them. I mean even in his puppetry and whatever method he used to extract his heart he had to have some extensive knowledge of anatomy and the like. He's basically the Evil genius to Sakura's Good doctor, and I like that dynamic.  :hehehe:

The two of them working together rather than trying to kill one another would have been freighting. Sasori is very two-faced, he can go from being subtle, methodical and almost machiavellian while Sakura is the opposite, but the sort of have this ability to meet in the middle and coalesce.

I mean there is just so much between the two of them in that one battle that it's just hnng. Saosaku is basically the better version of Sasusaku, it has actual developement and even when he was trying to kill her Sasori was nicer than Sauce lmao. :pimp:

Also the fact that Sakura got a Sasori reunion yoinked from her in favor of more Kankuro time is always going to bother me. Sakura was the one who reached Sasori originally. She's the one who impressed him, the one first one who planted the "You're wrong!" seed in his head. She is legitimately the only person he has ever even broached the subject of "becoming like him" with as far as we have seen in canon--Like I wrote a drabble about this last night for tumblr, but if you go back and read his last conversation with her...I'll just drop the part of the drabble that pertains to it because I'm lazy lmao:

“Do you want to become like me? Then you could probably understand…” a useless offer considering his state but it hadn’t sounded hypothetical by any means. He was extending a once in a lifetime opportunity a process and state only he had knowledge of.

"I can make as many people as I want out of puppets…” he’d looked her dead in the eyes with that strange smile and added “if I want them.” As though he had wanted her. “But I don’t add just for the sake of quantity.” His gaze seemed to rake across her features, studying her from head to toe. "Quality is important too."

Like he already had plans written in his head.

It had alarmed her at first, how nonchalant he was. He was supposed to be years and years older than her and yet he seemed so young not only in face but mannerism–youthful in his fervor. 'Its possible that removing himself from the aging process slowed his development.’ It would explain his poor decision making. Even a genius brain didn't stop developing until they were at least 25.

The fact of the matter is--as I joked before, the whole thing came off as a creepy marriage proposal. He's intimating that she's worthy to stand as his equal, not a mindless puppet but something exactly like him. Some people make a big deal out of the age gap, but I genuinely believe that him messing around with kitten probably did stunt his development--and also he's kinda crazy to begin with -coughs-

I remember being super excited for the final 2 chapter. Even tho 693 happened a part of me was still naively hopeful for the end. Honestly I was already disappointed with some of the decisions made in the war arc because of how drawn out the manga was in general, but the pairings were something I was thinking okay I at least have this to look forward to. I can overlook everything else thats wrong with the manga cause this is my OTP and at least the characters will be happy etc.

But then I remember seeing the leaks of the kids. I was wondering if this was true and at first I didnt believe it and then I was like oh god it is true. I was so scared to read the last 2 chapters at that point, but when the last two chapters released I ended up looking and being thoroughly disappointed and angry, wondering what I just read. I remember ranting to my friends about it (especially about SS because to me it was so toxic and wondered what happened to all the development in the characters). I remember questioning whether I was completely wrong myself and these pairings were actually meant to be or something and now its hard not to sometimes think what Kishi said was true about them being his idea all along when I hear how they keep changing ( retconing) what happened in the actual manga. I also questioned my ideals in what I constituted romance.

Ill cut it there, but I was devastated. However that made me want to write Naruto and Sakura more because I wanted to write what I thought was true to their characters.

I remember reading some of boruto but after a while I just didnt cAre anymore when the new characters felt like empty copies of the originals.

I stopped watching anime and reading manga all together. Its only this year that I started watching anime again, and even then I can care less about pairings anymore. And now I cant stand any character whos whole existence revolves around one person. I noticed many works have something like this and it just turns me off so much now because I know its probably going to be a pairing and it will be seen as real love.

It was only recently I started watching (and loving) Animes like Boku no Hero but completely shut out the idea of romance/ care for the pairings, even when theyre pretty clear lol.

But yeah either way, I didnt care for the Naruto series anymore. I had even stopped writing for Naruto (even tho its mainly because I got busy) and it wasnt until recently that I started writing again since I loved writing the characters. Even tho I dont care for the series anymore I still adore what the characters used to be so decided Id still write and finish any stories I had of them. I am even nostalgic for what the series used to be and the fond memories I had watching it and reading. Those were still good times Im not going to lie. Back in part 1 and beginning of part 2. So I still cherish that but the ending left a stain in those memories too. Gah idk.

But yeah...

NaruSaku <3
