If I recall Sakura was in 6th or 7th place in total of the popularity polls by the time the 3rd databook came out, with her fight against sasori with chiyo came in 3rd with a comment from a fan saying how amazed her characters growth was at the time.

I know remember the time after Jiraiya died how Hinata helped Naruto through losing his godfather, or what about when Naruto failed the test at the start of the manga how she was there for her bestfriend.

the moment I like was when at the end of part 1 Hinata was at the hospital holding Naruto's hand that was when Naruto knew he liked Hinata.

IIRC, Sakura was constantly in the top 10 Naruto characters on popularity polls whereas Hinata was usually between 10 and 20, below ones like Neji.

Naruto has been shown what Hinata did for him/to him/endured because of him, and he "cofesses" immediately after that without a single hint that he might have felt more than companionship/friendship for her in the past. "Guilt" is the only logical explanation here.

"We live in a world that is so quick to convince us to ignore our feelings. Feeling stressed? Get a massage. Feeling angry? Go to the bar with your friends and blow off steam. Feeling lonely? Well, by George, don’t talk about that because no one likes a bragger. Same with being sad, no one likes a Debbie Downer. I'd actually love to see Linkara take a crack at the manga, then watch the Last. It'll be like his "One More Day" review multiplied by 3. :lmao:

... I was trying to say that the narrative dosen't make sense the way it is presented to the viewer and how the viewer is supposed (?) to see it.

"Guilt" and a bad conscience is the only way this can be explained, since it is impossible for a human being not to know that he/she has Feelings for someone, wether you are unsure about their nature or not.

Naruto being totally oblivious about his nonexistent feelings -> Genjutsu about how great Hinata is/was and Sakura telling him what an Idiot he is for not noticing this and that he is supposed to be in love with her, because of that (what is pretty ridiculus ...) -> Suddenly, he is in love with her

People in Narutos' position who do not know what "romantic love" is do not exist. The awareness that something called "romantic love" does exist is a normal part of a humans' developement. You don't Need a parent to teach you that.

That makes it worse when you think about it, I mean Naruto was guilt tripped into loving Hinata we saw him go on dates so all his friends just made him feel guilty that he was not dating Hinata they forced him on her I mean if this was me and they all said to me, “YOU NEED TO LOVE HER.”

That's why I keep saying that when it comes to NaruHina, there is absolutely no regard for Naruto's feelings and it makes me sick.   You don't force love on someone or treat it like an obligation on your part to return feelings that you just don't have.   If my "friends" tried to guilt-trip me like that,  I'd casually tell them that if they cared so much, help her find a guy that will appreciate her for who she is or go out with her themselves.  No one should have to commit themselves to misery by forcing themselves fabricate emotions just to fulfill someone else's desires.

But as we know, the Last was produced by someone who didn't read the source material save for scant ideas.  So, I suppose he assumed that Naruto's character was like Goku's back in Dragon Ball.  (Hell, even GOKU understands and recognizes the differences between platonic and romantic love when he sees/feels it.)

Suddenly" only fits if there was no development.

NH was incredibly lacking in development regardless of what pairing fans with self-serving interest espouse (hence the folly of saying "b-b-but certain fans predicted this so it must be valid!!!!"), but it doesn't matter. Naruto suddenly ended up with Hinata after that databook came out. You could have all the so-called development in the world. Doesn't alter the fact that the databook was released and then a day after (databook came out on November 4, 2014), BOOM, Naruto is married to Hinata in chapter 700. So enough feeble attempts to run away from the subject. THAT'S your context for until now. So either you think Naruto's platonic relationship with Sakura came to a close  or you're giving the databook the middle finger. I repeat: Which is it?

You are looking for it being "told" to you. I am showing you what the scene means.

Nope, you are giving me your opinion on what it means. At no point have you shown me any dialogue where Sakura, in The Last, even acknowledges that Naruto had feelings for him, albeit shallow. At no point have you show me any scenes in The Last where Naruto says, thinks or insinuates "Yeah, I used to have feelings for Sakura, but they were only small." At no point have you offered any statements/references in the manga/databooks that clarifies Naruto's feelings to be a crush. The only thing Sakura does is tell Naruto that he once said he loved her, but that he only said it because he wanted to beat Sasuke. When you say "b-b-but that obviously means she is saying he had a crush on her", you are giving me an opinion. Or as I like to call it, glorified fanfiction. I could easily craft a competing glorified fanfic based on that scene. Here, I'll demonstrate:  Naruto used to be madly in love with Sakura, but not because of Sakura herself, but because he was madly in love with beating Sasuke. See? I can make bald faced assertions too.

Returning to the words, and why Naruto says them at all, just later, an opportunity is thrust on him, and this promise obstacle is removed, and he does not have the promise to stop him, we gain more context on Naruto's understanding. This is another instance where you need to both take in your later explanation provided with the language you are taking from the text.

You sound like a Washington politician being at a public interview. Bunch of jargon and gobbledygook. Quite stalling and get to the point already. :sleepy:

Simply put, Naruto is not implying he -would- confess, by saying how could he?  Why would Naruto confess if he knows Sakura is in love with someone else? This is what is called out in later context by Naruto himself. This is why this plot point isn't necessary to resolve, it -is- resolved.

Um . . . okay, then what is he implying then? And why are you ignoring the question: Why is he linking his feelings for Sakura to the promise in the first place?

Why would Naruto confess if he knows Sakura is in love with someone else? What a weak retort. Same reason Sakura wants to confess to Sasuke even though she knows he's not interested. If you love somebody, you want to win them over. Naruto has known how Sakura feels about Sasuke since chapter 3, but that hasn't stopped him from wanting her for himself. This even gets delved into in one of the filler episodes (and I don't usually bring up filler, but I may as well since you keep bringing up glorified fanfiction). Not that it matters. Naruto didn't say anything about being unable to confess as a result of her being in love with Sasuke. Sai asked him if he had confessed yet and Naruto explained to him that he couldn't since he couldn't keep his promises.

And last but most certainly not least . . .

Ignoring your Strawmaning at the beginning and end,

Of course you're going to run away from our little discussion about "suki." Fyi, it is not some universal term for "crush" as you said it was. Smart move though. I had some additional ammunition in store that was not gonna be pretty had you continued.

You are looking for it being "told" to you. I am showing you what the scene means. You are stuck on strict denotation, rather than connotation. You look for literal language over understanding what that language is meaning. Factually, Naruto did have a crush on Sakura canonically, supported in the early chapters and the databook, and this is not dismissed by Sakura's words. Factually, this was not a true romantic love, thus Hinata is his first love. Thus, Factually, you have a quantified differentiation. You want the writing to tell you and not show you. You need to utilize both language -and- context. Do so and this makes sense.

You are not showing anything. Youve given no evidence that his feelings was 'crush'. . What you are doing are ignoring facts that's been given to you by the manga and the databook and deluding people with your presumptuous assumptions and misinterprerations of Naruto's feelings without any substantial evidence. His feelings are romantic because; in chapter 3 he say that he likes her a lot, he tries to kiss her on the forehead (an example of romantic initiation) and his heartbroken reaction when he realizes how much Sakura likes Sasuke further confirms how strongly he feels about sakura. It's not shallow because he admires how great of a person she is, he is respects her, develops a strong unique bond with her. These are all mutually inclusive which are all needed in order to make a mature romantic love work. That's what you've been failing to see all this time.

Yeah which is why NH is bad in so many ways no one cares for Naruto post ending just Hinata her fans make that very clear after all with they way they treat her this stopped being Naruto's story. I mean no other story has done this they have who will be with who right from chapter 1 good writers now to do growth Kishi does not however his younger brother is a better writer in many ways.

The only reason Kishi keeps lying cause he knows once he comes out and says he kittened up he will never be able to do manga again J.K at least admits that Harry and Hermione would have been better for each other.

With Goku at least he was simple cause he lived in the woods all on his own, for Naruto this just makes him look like a kitten that will use women.

Stop, it's not like Naruto's character was based around "never giving up", it's not like author coud've just make half-assed attempt and give at least poor scene with failed confession of naruto, at least to show rejection from Sakuras side if he was on idea of satisfying facnfiction pairting of NH at the end of the day with all dot's on i. But we never saw anything, nonono, that's ofcourse not a retcon of sub-plot, and major trait of MC, lul. And ofcourse Sakura saying Naruto that he once said he loved her... when did he confessed to her directly? So many inconsistency...

Guys, did you know? SasuHina is canon! They loved each other since their academy days - They just didn't know what romantic love is and that they have this Feeling for each other, because they were traumatized and nobody explained to them how it works between the bees and the flowers! Hahaha! Belive it! :twitch:

/sarcasm off

The only reason Sakura was present in that Genjutsu is to further enforce on how stupid Naruto is for not realizing and returning the love Hinata had for him. If not - how does she even know  he was not aware of her Feelings? Maybe he knew but decided not to respond to them because he didn't want to lead Hinata into thinking he might return them?

That thought didn't even cross her mind. Sakura thought that he was not Aware of them, because he didn't date her or was interested in spending time with her.
