This is under (Wi-Fi Protection Setup [WPS]) so I hope it's the right thing... heheelq7.png

QUOTE
This screen enables you to set Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) parameters for easy install wireless communications.

WPS: Enable/Disable Wi-Fi Protected Setup function.
Status: Display the state ( Un-configured State / Configured State ) information of WPS .

Self-PIN Number: Display the default PIN number of AP.

Client PIN Number: Type Client PIN number the client uses to negotiate with AP via WPS protocol. It is only used when users want their station to join AP's network.

Push Button Configuration: Clicking this button will invoke the PushButton Configuration (PBC) method of WPS . It is only used when AP acts as a Registrar .

So... I'm trying to set up a password/protection (whatever) for my Wi-Fi and i'm not very smart so i'm trying to figure out how and these words hurt my brain. First I don't know what a "Client PIN number" is, so that doesn't help me argh1.png

There was also one that said (Security) so I have no idea which one is the right one...

Security

Authentication Type Disable WEP WPA WPA2 WPA-AUTO
WEP Open System Shared Key
Mode HEX ASCII
WEP Key 64-bit 128-bit
Key 1
Key 2
Key 3
Key 4

The Key whatever was like "0000000000" so, uh.... arg.gif

Anyone have an idea of what I should do? 'Cause I wanna have more secure Wi-Fi ...

Thanks! a_hug.gif

Edit: it's a TRENDNET TEW-652BRP

You're trying to set up security for a router I presume?

The security type that you choose should be based upon what kind of devices you have, which you should have looked into how to do this rather than buying it without any knowledge.

With that said, you should probably choose either WEP (compatible with more devices, easier to hack) or WPA2 (less compatible, much more secure).

It might be easier if you post your router model so that you can get help easier.

Ah, yeah, that's smart x) I have a TRENDNET TEW-652BRP. I didn't buy it, either, my old man did.

Somehow I stumbled across an emulator online of what I assume is your router. Is this what it looks like? I can only assume these would be the correct settings, so mark the same boxes that I have marked.

A WEP key is a sequence of hexadecimal digits. These digits include the numbers 0-9 and the letters A-F. If you choose WEP then I'd suggest for Key 1 you should make it a 10 digit number that you can easily remember. I'd choose WEP only if you have a device like a DS, PSP or something that can't use WPA2. Just make Keys 2-4 blank but make sure the bubble for Key 1 is selected when you apply the settings.

If you choose WPA2, it can be 8-63 characters long I believe. It also isn't limited to the numbers 0-9 and letters A-F. It's much more secure than WEP too and should be used if all your wireless devices can support it.

Of course if neither suggestion works I'm sure someone here can inform you better.
