This again? He's not "over protective", he treats Nami and Robin like they're glass.

Zeff raised him to be that way. Remember how he originally just really admired women's beauty, but then Zeff taught him that he should treat women differently, or else he would beat him up.

He said that he should never hit a woman, not that should treat the women like they can't do anything for themselves. Sorry, but Sanji's is at fault for that, he's an adult. Maybe he should treat Nami and Robin like they're part of the crew.

Pretty sure he picked it all up after Zeff. Why else would he go from saying "hit that woman, Zeff" to "if you put a spec of dirt on her, I'll kill you"???

 

Why aren't you talking about the latest One Piece episode? Pretty cute Luffy x Nami moment in it. Of course, I, the bigger fan of the pairing, has to bring it up.

They're all kind XD Sanji needed a push from someone to tell he's very kind to the readers. Still, regarding treatment of women, he doesn't treat them as equal to men. It shows from what he talks regarding this.

 

Whether from Zeff or not, he's kind, but regarding women, he treats them as being weaker than men.

I'm going say maybe about 60 people. It was almost filled, but it was being shown in one of their smallest screens.

Yeah I know right We were a little bummed that it was so hush hush though. In my home town it was being shown in three theaters but two of them only had it playing for one night with one showing. The third theater had a poster, and it played it for two days, but still only one showing each. I don't think they have a clue how much money they could make if they reached out to local anime clubs and played it the entire week with multiple showings too, but I'm happy that I was still able to see it on the big screen.

He's overprotective of "WOMEN". there's a difference between being nice to women and and then defending their honor for them like they can't handle themselves, and lusting after them, which he does. He may not be sexist in his intentions but the actions speak for themselves

Zeff is sexist then.

 

Why do you think women and children are first off or out of somewhere in danger? Why do men go downstairs while the woman stays upstairs when there is a strange sound downstairs. Why do most women tend to find muscles more attractive, throughout all of history. Men are the protectors. Now, today there is less of that, as guns and technology pack a much bigger punch than any muscle can. Women don't seek out muscles for protection today as much as they do it for looks.

 

What year is One Piece set in? 1400s? 1500s? Back when chivalry was very alive and fully expected from a man wanting to have a bride. I'm watching Masamune-kun no Revenge this season. It features a very dignified and strong woman, who in 3 episodes has relied on Masamune being chivalrous in protecting her, twice. Why? Because most men and women fall into suckers for that writing tactic. It has always worked.

 

When the maid was getting humiliated and Sanji decided to help her out, Reiju saw a very manly man, not a sexist pig. Men like that don't care how strong women are, they find personal joy in ensuring their safety. Watch the recent Film Gold? Robin wasn't hurt at all, and Sanji went berserk, calling himself an idiot for letting anything happen to a woman. Robin didn't care any as far as we can tell, but for Sanji, it was his way of living to destroy what put danger in a ladies way.

 

Men aren't born this way. It takes an adult figure to make them feel like this is the way a man must act. We saw Sanji wanting a woman to be hit when he was a child. Then we saw how angry Zeff got because Sanji wasn't the Sanji we know today. Zeff, as a adoptive father to Sanji, taught him to treat women the way he does. That's why Zeff didn't hit the woman for making his mistake, but beat up the men. And that's why Sanji told Chopper that a man must forgive a woman's lies. Everything Sanji is towards women, comes from Zeff. And nobody here hates a thing about Zeff. So to me, sounds like a whole lot of wishing for Sanji to be a hated character here in this thread.

Yes Zeff is sexist And don't use the setting or era as an excuse, because why aren't any of the other named character like that then? "Male defending female" chivalry should be common in the setting, if your argument has weight. But on the opposite end there are sexism in other ways, like viewing women as trophies and forcing them "to be your lover" too, like what happened with Bonnie before. So I suppose there are different sexists in the story, but my point still stands, and I'm not saying that it makes the story any less in quality but it is what it is. To say that Sanji was taught to be like that and is justified because of the setting- for that to be avalid argument, there would have to be much more examples to make them and example of a rule not an exception

But people were taught to be that way much more back then. Being chivalrous to the point that you won't let women try to fight for themselves might offend some women nowadays, but it isn't quite sexist. Jumping in front of a bullet for a woman because her precious skin shouldn't be damaged doesn't deserve such criticism. If men are that way, so be it. Some women will be attracted to it. Others won't. Sexist is flying around as much as racist is recently, and most of the time is is out of context. Such powerful words being used left and right for almost anything.

 

As for Sanji being all over every woman. He doesn't even touch them. It's an anime. Every shonen has that one guy who loves women A LOT and is that way for comedy. Should we hate Master Roshi and Jiraiya next?

Not that side. I meant the pervy side of Jiraiya that wanted to touch every woman even though he loved Tsunade. And like I said. You don't just think women shouldn't get a spec of dirt on them unless someone taught you that you should be that way as a man. Zeff, the one time we saw something come up with hurting a woman, was furious with Sanji. Obviously, the chivalry of Sanji towards women comes from Zeff, and there isn't a thing wrong with it for either of the characters.

 

Nami and Robin don't care if Sanji wants to protect them with his life. Not once have they shown ANY sign of offense by it. Not even an upset face directed at him for it. As I said earlier. Some women can be offended by it, others won't be. Some women will be attracted to Sanji by it (like the maid girl), others won't. It isn't a flaw. The only flaw you got on him is that he spies on women bathing. Every anime guy does that. As for touching Nami while in her body, I can't defend that. Bad Sanji.
