#936462 Boruto Episode 1

Hinata in pink hair and green eyes... Nop XD

I'm sure next episode we'll see her forehead double in size with a big fat diamond in the center of it. Cause why not.

Whose Sakura again?? Beats me 🤔

I got halfway through, lol so don't take my review seriously.

It was ok. Super nice visuals and voice work of course. I'm actually really interested in how the values of being a shinobi are beginning to diminish under the rise of a new Golden Age now. Because there is no point of being a shinobi anymore, is there? What is there to protect now that all is well? Old school vs new school, basically. I reeeeeally like this concept.

Omg Hinata LMAOOO. Her? Scary? She couldn't scare a baby of she wanted to. She's too sugar-plum-princess to even work up a scowl. "Mom is scary when she gets upset!" "Mom is really strong!" "Mom has pink hair and green... wait, my bad wrong person."

I actually stopped watching when the father of that kid who got bullied slapped him. Not because I was disturbed, because it was so cliche. Evil parents forcing child to become the next heir against their wishes. And what's with rampant abusive fathers in this series?

Bleh. Mixed feels.

Sarada's new outfit actually makes me wonder how her fans are defending her on this, lol. Fanservice is written allllll over this child and it's just the beginning. And it really makes me angry that they did this to her (& I'm so glad that they didn't do this to Sakura; I woulda pissed on Kishimoto/SP and left the manga if they let that happen). Must be a societal normality in Japan, like Shadow1275 mentioned. But still...

I too think they should have skipped the fanservice and closed the series with Naruto becoming Hokage and be done with it. As after that, the stories just become uninteresting.

I mean honestly I've never seen Naruto as Hokage material, just sitting around shuffling piles upon piles of papers is just not what Naruto is about or who he is.

He needs to be out, on the move, doing silly things.

As for the pairings, the history shows us that things are much more interesting while there is UST between the characters, it's a foundation for much more dynamic and interesting stories as opposed to reading about happy (and usually dull) family lives ...

I've always thought he'd bring his chipper personality with his job, but he ended up trading it in to be what he wanted  :ermm: It shouldn't have been that big of a sacrifice.

Hell yeah, I agree! Once the wave of teen-angst and mixed feelings are resolved, it's immensely rewarding see them come together in the end. No mud, no lotus you know?

But married or not, I feel like Sakura would ground him with her tough love & remind him to keep his head in the game, while lifting up his mood simultaneously. It is Sakura who brings out that spark in him anyways.

#936136 Why DO we like Narusaku?

Posted by gamma on 02 April 2017 - 11:59 PM

COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY TRUE!!!!!!!!! nice one!!! :eager:  although I want to make a small correction to the NH statement. I want to be Hinata getting a guy like Naruto/I want a girl like Hinata

Yes that is what I mean by "NH fans are purely selfish and objectifying". NH fans imagine that they need to have a soft spoken obedient and big kittened woman for fulfill all their needs and requirements without contributing anything to the relationship, or imagine themselves as Hinata, the shy insecure girl that wants the boy next door but could never tell him and again obtain him without again contributing anything to the relationship, besides telling the guy her "love for him is as vast as the ocean". SS is nothing but a masochistic girl's fantasy about healing the emotional scars of the "bad boy" and redeeming him through her affections". None of these parties are putting anything into the relationship, so is it any wonder that they are dysfunctional as they are. NH and SS are about fantasy, NS is about equality.

What do Naruto and Sakura represent? a strong and open relationship, empathy, not being afraid to speak their minds, being themselves fully and unconditionally around the one they love, respecting and sharing opinions. Naruto would NEVER take Sakura for granted and Sakura would NEVER permit Naruto to fall out of practice, go out of shape, or ignore their children. The reason why NaruSaku works out is because they don't have  put a fake smile around each other, and pretend to be someone they are not. Sakura is never a weak submissive crying wreck around Naruto (unless Sasuke is involved) and Naruto never has to walk on eggshells around Sakura (Sakura does not faint in Naruto's presence EVER) or put up a cool act for her, and can be his fun-loving, goofy self. They can show themselves without a single thing hidden from each other. They can laugh together, tell each other what upsets them and pull through together and encourage each other during hard and sad times.THAT IS WHAT love is. THAT IS WHAT MARRIAGE is.

Do you see any of the things I've listed in NH or SS? Again, NH and SS are about fantasy, NS is about equality.

Yeah...I am getting old...Standards today is too soft.

Nah with this case, I'm still here trying to accept it as what it is in the most unbiased way I possibly can because I'm tired of denying kitten to be quite honest. Just the way they guilt-tripped their way up to canon still gets me, but just maybe I'll suck it up & get over it. But for now I'm still bitter & will forever hate this pairing. I'm also treating this as a filler because sadly, it felt more Hinata-centric than anything, really. I'm just glad it's over.

.
At the wedding it was a nice touch how they had Sakura standing around looking depressed and envious… 0___0

It certainly gave antis more than enough leverage to bash her imo, as if they didn't already had any. Psh.

The only saving grace to this whole situation is that Iruka got the credit he rightfully deserved.

1000% agreed. He was the first person to actively protect him after the ninetails was sealed in him. All credit to Iruka for making Naruto the way he is. Had he not protected Naruto that day, things would have went differently.

I wouldn't be able to stomach it. It would hurt my heart to see it. Regardless if I believe the whole ending is kitten and fake.

Aww I understand! I feel the same way too, it didn't settle right with me but curiousity got the better and _(:3 」∠)_

But then I remember how boring they are together & what a failure Naruto 2.0 is and I feel better lawl

#935261 Naruto Episode 500

So, I watched it., cause it was all over Twitter, trending anyways. Yes it did have a wedding scene to it. And it was pretty emotional, imo.

The animation was amazing, crisp, clean, all that. Obvious bias to Hinata of course, she looked positively perfect oh my god. The most touching moment for me was when Naruto asked Iruka to be present at his wedding as his father (despite Iruka saying that he sees Naruto as a little brother to him but ok).

The window moment, where Naruto looks nostalgically at the statue of his fathers face with Hinata by his side was quiet moment for them (mostly for Naruto). Despite me disliking the pairing a lot, it was a nice moment. Maybe because this was the end of Naruto and seeing him all grown up and the tearjerk-ish music that was playing the the background, but damn. I certainly feel a sort of closure to all this, personally.

You know, now that I think of it, aren't they still 18-19? Cause Kakashi is still Hokage and Naruto is still in his TL outfit and such...

Sasuke & Sakura only got a minute of fame and that was it. Sakura reverted back to her 13 year old self, and Sasuke can't get out of his 2004 emo phase... They didn't even have a Team 7 moment either :( I wish they re-made their old genin team photo... but even that would feel tainted somehow.

Idk. I'm glad it's over tho holy moly its finally dead

Naruto had some awesome villains with Akatsuki. After Pein died...meh.

Essentially. The originality kinda died along with the villains.

My favorites were definitely Hidan & Kakuzu, without a doubt. There's something exhilarating about them as partners.

Hidan is not swayed by meaningful words and doesn't have a care in the world about anything at all. He's just crazy evil in every sense to me lol. Hidan's character kinda reminds me of Mugen from Samurai Champloo actually (except Mugen was more open to reasoning during battle and a bit cheesy at times haha). Pretty sure they just asked him to join and he's like 'aight lmao'. Omg what if his head just pops out of the ground one day on a team of unknowing genin & be like surprise mfs woulda thought i was done

Where Hidan was bluntly crude, Kakuzu on the other hand had a smarter, more ominous personality and disposition than his counterpart. Kakuzu's way of becoming immortal completely fanscinated me as well: to take live hearts out of other people and using their chakra nature for his own + to extend his lifespan.

Their arc had me to the edge of my seat tbh. To see Kakashi so disheveled from fighting those two made me binge watch the entire fight in a day lol. And man, they were also sort of the 'original' immortals before Reanimation Jutsu, you know? Love them.

My least favorite had to be Kaguya for the reasons already stated in this thread. Also those 7 swordsmen of the Mist? They were hyped up in the very beginning and they turned out the be lame. There was one with a thread and needle sword-type of a half-a**ed weapon that made me cringe, and I think it was among them.

#933753 From a writing standpoint, what exactly is the appeal of Naruto and Hinata?

Posted by gamma on 07 March 2017 - 05:40 AM

To be honest, I loved NaruHina in Part 1. Not totally from a writers perspective however.

Mainly because it seemed like a cool thing to do at the time; the whole hopping-on-the-popular-bandwagon shebang. As well as the fact that there was art everywhere with this pairings, AMVs, fanfics (lol do NOT get me started on that one) ect., so I was easily convinced that they were the best thing since sliced bread & Betty White for a while.

And I completely understood why everyone loved them. They just looked "cute" and "cool" together: Naruto's charming cluelessness and brash disposition + a deathly cute blush-y, smushy gushy Hinata, turning into a fainting and stuttering mess every time they meet. It was perfect, a dream. It appealed to 14 year old me at the time who preferred looks over substance, and because of the simple notion that "opposites attract" bs. I never really payed attention to the story too much when it came to the development towards them all the while.

And to be fair, NaruHina did have their moments. The scene where Naruto vowed over Hinata's blood that he would kick Neji's behind for her was maybe the most touching scene associated with this couple for me. In retrospect to the entire sh*tshow series, this pairing did have some rather stunning moments, but it lacked consistency and personal moments for it to truly feel genuine because they started developing NaruHina way too late in the game for it to pick up some speed. Everyone knows this.

But atm these two are just boooring af together, they literally have little in common. Hinata's character just dampens Naruto's by a ton & I feel like they can't have fun together, its really sad. Plus you have unnecessary drama about failed marriages everywhere, Naruto looks like a hairless miserable cat, Hinata's crying, her children are crying, Kishimoto is crying, Sakura is presumed dead at this point and Sasuke just can't seem to take a seat for once in his life and I still wonder how fans are still defending this kitten lmaoo

#933704 From a writing standpoint, what exactly is the appeal of Naruto and Hinata?

Posted by gamma on 06 March 2017 - 03:50 AM

I saw the filler as well & lmao...

As I was watching it, I got increasingly bored so I started to skip around to find out where tf our main hero & heroine Naruto and his otaku hug pillow Hinata were. And they were essentially nowhere in sight. Which I think, only proved one thing to me personally: they're just so effin' boring together that they can't even pull a lax conversation with one another...

I had wanted them to have significant scenes with each other to see how they both brought out the other's character, mainly Hinata's. See how they made plans, chat about the clothing they'll be wearing, try on some funny clothes & tease one another about it perhaps(?), etc. just to showcase their "chemistry", what made it unique and to generally see how in love they were. SP had a nice opportunity to meddle with NaruHina deeper and to add some spice to their bland relationship, no matter how OOC it might have been because really, everyone feels a little OOC at this point.
