well i certainly do believe that it is quite possible. with all the secrets that have been going around, especially since they've all been about sasuke. now its narutos turn! i mean why else has kishi just about never mentioned naruto's mother once. i mean seriously, after he met his dad for the first time, you'd think he'd seriously have a big thought about who is mother was about. but kishi totally ignored that.

You know, this is something that just randomly popped into my head as I was writing the latest chapter of Whirlpool Country.

Everyone knows now about how Madara can effectively use whatever his space/time jutsu (Kamui, most likely) is to 'remove' people from the world, and hold them in some kind of alternate reality. We saw him do it to both of Danzo's agents, though we weren't shown where they went.

However he did the same thing to both Sasuke and Karin, but we did get to see where they both went. Not only that, but he brought them back.

It makes me curious... because we now know that the Yondaime Hokage did fight Madara at around the same time he fought the Kyuubi, as it said in the 'Naruto 10 years fanbook'. Perhaps Madara took Kushina and placed her in this alternate dimension, to get at Minato? Or perhaps even for some other reason.

It would explain why everyone speaks of her in past tense, because they all think she is dead or gone. It's never stated if anyone really knows what happened to her. Should the need arise, if Madara has her in his alternate universe whatever thing, he could possibly use her as a bargaining chip for Naruto's cooperation. I could see Naruto giving himself over to Madara to save his mother... or at least consider it.

However, in the same vein -

Kakashi knows and uses the same technique that Madara does. At least, I know Madara is more skilled at using the Kamui technique than Kakashi. Okay, much more skilled.

One potential way to keep Naruto from 'sacrificing' himself to get his mother (if it is indeed the situation), is for Kakashi to better control the Kamui technique, and save Kushina himself.

Dun dun dunnnnn...

I hope Kushina appears. I think it would add an interesting dynamic to Naruto.
